I just installed Windows 7 x64 on a bootcamp partition on my new iMac 27-inch, and transferred my music to it. However, when I played it, I noticed a big difference in audio quality. The sound still works, but it's more radio-like (possibility mono audio), and not getting the stereo quality that I get in Mac OS X.

I have now had the chance to fully test it and use it several times, and have made the following observations(1) This adapter is extremely easy to use. Just plug MDP and USB into your mac, hook up the HDMI cable to both ends, and you're ready to go, no software or drivers necessary.(2) The video is of high quality, and unaltered by the adapter. Images are crisp and clear. Full 1080p is supported.(3) Audio is also of high quality, although this adapter only supports stereo and not 5.1/7.1. The audio is as good or better than DVD quality, depending on the audio source.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just set up my new MacBook Pro 13-inch with Boot Camp. Initially I put Windows 7 RC on it, but I couldn't get the audio control function keys to work. Figuring Win 7 is probably quirky, I figured I'd drop back to Vista for now until 7 is officially supported. (Interesting how easy Apple makes it to annihilate a Boot Camp partition. :) So now I have Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 running with no issues. All the Boot Camp drives and utilities seem to be working. However, with all the sounds cranked to max in Windows, and using the F12 key, the volume is very quiet. Probably less than half of what I can get in OS X.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI came across some youtube video with dual-language audio; ie. one language on the left channel and another language on the right channel. The Output page under Sound preference does not have the left/right balance control, probably due to the mono speaker in MBA. If I connect to an external speakers, or headphones, then the balance control re-appears. Is there a way to get around this problem, if I still want to use the build in mono-speaker?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe option to 'play stereo audio as mono' that comes with OSX 10.6 does not work as I expected.When I enable this option it sounds like only one of the two channels becomes mono, while the other one does not sound mono to me.It's hard to notice this, because the total sound does change to 'less' stereo. I've done some testing with different soundcards and testing signals, and found out that when the option is enabled, the mono signals are routed incorrect.While the right channel becomes mono, the left channel seems to be something else; I'm not sure if it's the original left channel of the stereo signal, though. I have reason to believe that the resulting mono sound on the right channel correctly is the 'monofied original sound', but that from the left channel.The resulting mono sound on the left channel sounds like the original left channel of the stereo sound, maybe added with the mono sound of the right channel.
Why do I think so? When using a sound card with more than two outputs, I can clearly see that sound is being sent to the second and the THIRD output, instead of the first and the second output, immediately after I enable mono. Resulting in output on THREE channels:original leftmonofied (left) monofied (right) On my soundcard I can disable the extra outputs, and than I hear:original left + maybe monofied rightmonofied (left) I think the programmer of this great feature made an 'off-by-one error', consequently sending the monified output to the wrong channels;to channel[1] + channel[2] instead of channel[0] + channel[1] I don't know what happens to sound that is sent to channel[2] (the third channel) on a two channel soundcard.It could be mapped to the the first channel, but that of course is speculation. Could be tested though, with the right audio signal.

Here is whats happening: my 3 y.o. 15 MBP is connected to external speakers (Bose MusicMonitor) and every time there is a sound, any system sound, say an email in, a volume chirp, or a Skype chirp, anything at all, I hear an audible POP, before hearing the actual sound, in fact the POP sort of overlays the sound. I hear the second POP sometimes, after the sound has sounded, so to speak, and sometimes the second one does not happen at all. To me it reminds me of the Pioneer Amp my dad used to have in the 70's, when you first turn that thing on, it would produce an audible POP. So, back to to this, it sounds like an amplifier POP by being awaken by the system, and I'm inclined to think it is the MBP's audio "amplifier" on its board. Oh, btw, both the speakers and the MBP's volume is set to low.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI managed to successfully install windows 7 32 bit on the imac with all drivers. I thought I should post this as I couldn't find any information on how to install the audio drivers, and how to get the magic mouse scrolling functions to work.
Here is how I got everything installed.
For all files you use before installing them you must right click on them then properties then compatibility,
check the run this program in compatibility mode for windows vista service pack 2
For video nvidia
install bootcamp/drivers/nvidia/nvidiagraphicsmobilevista32/setup.exe
For audio
install bootcamp/drivers/cirrus/cirrusaudiovista32.exe
For chipset drivers
install bootcamp/drivers/nvidia/nvidiachipsetvista32/setup.exe
Install all the software/drivers that is in bootcamp/drivers/apple BUT if you are using windows 7
NOT THE FOLLOWING BOOTCAMP.msi because your oamputer will freeze
For the bluetooth download and install the drivers from [URL]
I have iMac mid 2008 and I've been using it with Vista before for gaming a lot, but have just installed 7 instead and everything would be great if my microphone doesn't stop working Actually the system can see it but there is no record at all on any recording level. I never had any issue with XP or Vista, and on S-Leopard it still working, so my question is -Have anyone here experienced any problem like this and is there a way out? I tried re-installing BootCamp 3.0, installing Vista's 2.1 Bootcamp drivers instead and also tried the Realtek's drivers from their site -
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently had a cracked panel on an old Macbook Pro 15 inch (A1260) and just replaced it with a new one. Ever since i replaced it i have had no sound. Now i consider myself an experienced mac user so i have checked under my sound prefences and it doesnt list anything under sound input or output and things are grayed out. I also had the guy who replaced my panel, who is also my friend, check everything out and he hasn't been able to figure out why there is no sound. he gave me a usb midi device that shows up and works but when unplugged theres nothing.
Another thing that has started is, video online will stop every 11 seconds, and thats with me clicking on the bar when it stops playing after the first 11 seconds.

- A very very faint feedback, like when you plug an electric guitar in to an amp, can be heard when the first sound (the mac start up chime) is supposed to play on restart
- USB headphones work
I am thinking of buying the base 27 inch iMac and upgrading the hard drive myself. I read few threads here of people doing it but I am concerned about breaking the glass while lifting it off. I am somewhat handy having replaced the hard drive several times on my white iMac which is no picnic. Any thoughts on this from people who have taken off the glass on the new mac or even the older 24 inch display glass?

Not sure if this a known issue or just me but I found this morning that two finger scrolling upwards doesn't work on my MBA when I am browsing in Google Chrome. I observed it works in other apps including Safari. Thought of taking it to the Genius Bar then gave up because of the hassle of going through the replacement as I already put in full body zagg on my MBA.

Instead of just buying another one, will apple replace my current one? It was sparking on the cable that plugs into the computer and it looks like its been burnt, which is probobly why it doesn't work anymore, is this a defect with apples chargers and will they replace it even though my iBook is out of warranty?

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy trackpad suddenly stopped working well more precisely is being erratic. When I move my finger across the pad the pointer is not moving and when it does move there seems to be a lag. The gestures are not working properly etc and the pointer would move on its own not by much but a little bit. I have tried SMC and PRAM and that has not helped. I attached an external mouse and was having problems with moving the pointer, however when I selected disable trackpad when external mouse is attached the external mouse worked just fine. All of my software is up todate I am running OSX 10.6.8. I hope I do not have to get another track pad the laptop is about 7 months old and I have an apple care plan but I am out of the US for the next couple of months so I am looking for fix I can do myself.

I took it to the Apple Store to find out that the Logic Board was broken. They took it and they mailed it back to me about 2-3 days later. Now in Mac or Windows mode, the camera is upside-down. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been searching for a solution for months and saw a thread with a similar issue suggesting taking out the external speakers. Unfortunately, I've never used external speakers and this was not my issue. The problem I seem to be having is if I leave my iMac alone and let it put itself to sleep when it wakes up (using the magic mouse to wake it up) trying to put in my password with the Bluetooth apple keyboard won't work. Its completely frozen.
I tried to bypass this by setting it to not require a password after sleep but once I actually get into Windows 7 then nothing works. I see my suspended Windows 7 state but everything is frozen, the Ethernet just shows a never ending loading bar and my Keyboard doesn't type at all. The only solution I've been able to use is holding the power button until it turns off (Which is quite a painful process I might add, it takes a while to shut it down this way). And then after I hear it finally power off hold the power button until I hear the fans kick in again, at which point it starts from the same state as if sleep worked normally.
I'm using windows 7 64 bit on a December 2009 iMac with all the most recent EFI/SMC firmware updates as well as the Boot Camp 3.1 drivers. I've tried and read nearly everything but I'm totally stumped. Does anybody have any idea what might be wrong?
I am trying to install Mono 1.9.1 on a Mac Leopard. Installation seems successfull. I have the mono.framework files in the library. But When opening the Mono Alias there, I get a "/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/1.9.1/lib/libmono.0.0.0.dylib: cannot execute binary file error from the Terminal". I know not that much about development (yet)...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to buy a new macbook pro for school but I have some questions before I can buy one. For some of my school work I still have to use windows. I'll need windows for SPSS for windows and for MS Office, Access to be more specific.
I already own a 21.5 inch iMac on which I run Windows 7 Ultimate and I have installed MS Office in Windows 7. The problem is that I noticed some difference in using the keys on your keyboard while working in excel or access.
For example: on my windows laptop in excel, i have to hold control and then click on the fields i want to select. I noticed that on my iMac i needed to hold the right alt key on my mac keyboard and then i got to click the fields I want to select. So this is just a slight difference and it doesn't matter at all if I have to use some different keys for this type of actions. As long as I know how to do them offcourse. This may be silly for some of you but in order to get some good grades I really need to know this. Note that I only need to use Access not excel. But I just gave Excel as an example so you guys know where I'm coming from.
So my question is, does anyone have any experience with this? Are there other key changes I have to know? Or important notes on this subject?
I also have another question. As I already explained above I am running Windows 7 ultimate via Vmware Fusion and I have installed MS Office in this virtual machine. Can I just copy the virtual machine file from my iMac to my macbook pro? So I will have the same settings on my MBP?

We only used an amp to input thing. We were wondering if here was any way to mirror the sond to make it come out of both right and left speaker without recording again it took us 3 days.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI can only use 1 headphone at work, so I'd like to have both the left and right channels come out that 1 earbud, which would essentially be a mono signal instead of stereo.
Is there a way to do this? There's no balance tool in iTunes, and in OSX sound prefs, I can pan the sound all the way to one side, but that doesn't actually combine the channels, it just only plays that one side.
Things now sound squeaky , I tried adjusting the bit rate thro MIDI, tried all combinations but to no effect.
Is there a way to rollback to a earlier version ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just finished installing iATKOS v7 (10.5.7) and then installed the software update, all with success. (So now my system is 10.5.8). The thing is, my audio doesn't seem to be working. I don't know what kind of audio driver I have. I even went to System Profiler but it tells me I have no built-in audio, and neither does System Preferences. Does anyone know a way to detect what kind of sound driver you're using, so that I can find the drivers/kext for it? If not, any Terminal commands or any other ways I can get this to be fixed?
