OS X :: White Macbook Accepts 3GB Memory Upgrade But NOT 4GB?
Feb 25, 2009
I have just taken delivery of a new white Macbook and I upgraded HD to WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB HD and memory to Corsair VSA4GSKIT667C4 Mac Memory 4GB 2 X 2GB PC2-5300 667MHz200 -Pin SODIMM for apple laptops.
It would not work even after correctly reinstalling the new memory a number of times
I decided to put back the original memory but by mistake I installed one old dimm and one new dimm and the computer then installed Mac OS X on the new HD and works OK.
I am looking into upgrading my PBG4 1.33 to a NEW (updated) white macbook.
My question is regarding upgrading the memory & harddrive. iFixit makes the changeout of these items look incredibly easy. Is it? (i am by no means a fix-my-own-computer person, but I did recently replace memory and harddrive in my PBG4, and that was much more involved than what it looks like this process would be) I can get a 320G 7200 HD on ebay for under $60! Add in the RAM from ebay, and you are looking at upgrading the $999 macbook for under $100 - Apple charges nearly $300 for these upgrades, and it is a 5200 HD!
Am I missing something? Can I really put the 7200 HD in the new macbook? Is it really as easy to replace as it looks?
how to obtain a bigger memory for my imac so that I can upgrade to OSX LIon and then to icloud? My imac currently has 1 Gb memory and I need 2 Gb apparently. Apple can no longer supply a 2 Gb memory. I will need to knowe hwre to buy a suitable memory and how to change it.
Apple alongside its 2009 Back-to-School promotion on Wednesday also updated its entry-level white MacBook with a faster Intel processor, memory architecture and more hard disk space.
The update was announced quietly on the company's online store. For the same $999 Apple charged for the previous iteration of the white polycarbonate model, users get a 2.13GHz processor (up from 2.0GHz), a 160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm (up from 120GB), and 2GB 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM (up from 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM).The update is the second this year to the Cupertino-based company's entry-level notebook offering, the first of which arrived on January 21st when model was updated with NVIDIA's 9400M graphics architecture.
That update also saw the notebook gain the same 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 1,066MHz front-side bus employed by the mid-range aluminum unibody MacBook, as well as a doubling of its memory to 2GB. The new white MacBook is eligible for Apple's just-announced Back-to-School promo, which offers a $229 online rebate good for a free 8GB iPod touch to qualifying education individuals who purchase a qualifying Mac and the iPod on the same receipt before September 8th.
I'm about to receive a new Macbook (2.0 Ghz Unibody). I was wondering if I should consider upgrading RAM to 4 GB. Is crucial the best place to buy RAM upgrades? I'll only be using Office, Photoshop and Aperture on the Macbook (and maybe some games).
I have a macbook A1342 and I want to upgrade my memory ram fron 2GB to 4GB or 8 GB if the utter is possible. Which is the maximum memory upgrade in this model of Macbook and can I use memories DDR3 1333 Mhz instead of 1067 Mhz?
I'm looking to upgrade my white, early 2006 MacBook (1,1) 13"Â 2gb memory. 2.0 GHz Core Duo processor. 80gb hard drive. Can I upgrade my memory to 4gb? I've seen some people say yes, others say no...Also- can I upgrade to a SSD hard drive? If so...which one?Any other upgrades I can make to get a few more years out of it? (I don't use it often enough to justify buying a new MacBook... I use my iPhone 4S and new iPad for most day to day tasks.
Can I upgrade my MacBook Pro 15-in i7 Intel 2.2 GHz to 16 GB RAM (assuming 2x8GB DDR3 1333 MHz)? If so, what vendors make upgrade memory that is compatible?

I have never had any problems with this SuperDrive, until I installed Toast last week. I went to burn a disk, and it failed the burn; then after that any kind of disk I inserted into the drive would be ejected.
The drive doesn't even try to read it, nor does it try to spin up whatsoever... I put the disk in, it makes an 'accepting' noise, then less than two seconds later, it rejects it. I'm running 10.6.4, with HL-DT-ST DVDRW GSA-S10N running AP12 firmware.
Like I said before, the disk drive never had trouble reading anything, but all of a sudden decided to reject every one under the sun.
Restarting in Windows doesn't effect it, nor does inserting a disk before the computer boots. Everything appears normal in diagnostics, but the drive is not even trying to read it.
Black Macbook 2.4 with 2GB. Trying to upgrade to 4GB but won't start after install. Front light comes on but that is it. Pulled one of the new 2gb and replaced it with one of the old 1GB and it loads fine. Swapped new 2gb with new 2gb and it still works but not when installed together.
I've got a simple question: is it at all possible (in whatever way) to upgrade the memory (RAM) of a Mid 2009 MBA (2.13GHz C2D)? It is fitted with 2GB RAM and I am running into its limitations.
I have a MacBook Pro : 13-inch, Mid 2012, Processor 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7, Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 , Software OS X 10.9.3 (13D65) , Storage 750 GB SATA
I was wondering if it's possible for me to upgrade my Memory to 16 GB and my Storage to about at least 512 GB SSD
I have an A1226 15" MacBook pro with 2GB of RAM and 120GB hard drive. I'm busting at the seams! It's running very slow, with 110GB of hard drive used up. I need more hard drive for photos, etc. and more memory for speed. I'd rather not spend the money for an iMac, so I'm considering upgrading this MacBook Pro with 500GB hard drive and 2GB more RAM (total 4GB). Can anyone tell me the pros and cons? Am I fooling myself to think this is going to come close in performance to a new iMac with 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drive?
I just installed 8 GB Crucial memory for my 13" MacBook Pro (Late-2011; 2.8 Ghz). I immediately noticed scrolling on safari was jumpy or skipping. It is like this in other applications as well. Even zooming in/out of pdf's and using iphoto. I only purchased this laptop in Feb, and this bothers me. I tested using the Geekbench app. Every benchmark was about equal or much higher except for Processor Integer Performance, more specifically "Image Decompress multi-threaded scalar." It went from 138.3 down to 134.3 Mpixels/sec. Do I have lemon memory? I would almost rather go back to the 4 GB if this laggy performance is a continual issue. One of the things I love about Mac's is now becoming irritating.
I am wondering how much memory I can upgrade with my MacBook Pro Late 2011. I went on Apple.com and they only offer up to 8GB of Ram for my model when I looked around and saw that on OWC ( MacSales.com) which is a very excellent reliable source for all your Apple Products. But, I was able to find a 16GB of Ram for my MacBook Pro Late 2011 and it said it can be used for my MacBook Pro.Basically Apple says its only up to 8GB of Ram while I see other people have 16GB of Ram for the same year as mine but the only difference is the the size of the computer. Anybody could give me a answer with this question as I dont want to buy the 16GB of Ram and it not working for my computer. url...

I just bought 2 - 4 gb memory to ugrade my 2 - 2 gb memory on my macbook pro 13" early 2011. Installed them and rebooted. The About Mac still shows 4 mb memory and looking farther it shows it has 2 - 2 mb memory. Also, now when I close the lid on the computer and it shuts down completely and not just go to sleep. i do not know if the two are related.
I set up Time Machine with an external hard drive formatted for Windows. It didn't work. How do I reset Time Machine so that it accepts my new external hard drive for Mac?
An Apple solutions provider on Thursday announced a family of memory upgrades for existing and previous generation MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks that raise the maximum RAM limitation from 4GB to 6GB.Unibody MacBook and MacBook ProThe upgrades for the latest round of Apple notebooks are made possible via Other World Computing's new DDR3 4GB modules and 6GB DDR3 dual module kits that leverage the provider's long term experience using the new DDR3 memory technology."MacBook and MacBook Pro owners running memory intensive audio/video, 3D modeling, and image processing/management applications will find having 6GB really makes a difference in their computer's performance," said Jamie Dresser, Product Manager, OWC.

Has anyone experience that? Before the upgrade, even when I opened my Fusion VMware, I will still have at least 1-2GB available left but now I only left with 200MB available. How do I troubleshoot? Regret that I upgraded the firmware.
Recently purchased a MBP and find the memory of 4 GB fairly small. Â How would it affect the MBP if I were to change the memory to 8 GB...Ie. will it run faster ?
I have MBP that has 2x 2G DDR3 1067MHz memory installed on it, I would like to upgrade them to 2x 4G, but I'm not sure what to buy. are memories for Macs, Mac specific? or I can use any standard laptop RAM?
