I continue to get verification failed every time I try to download anything when it is nearing its end. It is very frustrating. What the hell is happening. Tried fixing permissions didn't do anything. Don't know what to do?
View 5 RepliesI have a Macbook running Mac OS X 10.5.7 and I'm trying to use BootCamp to partition it into part Windows XP and part Mac. When I clicked 'Partition', it loaded for quite a while and then a message popped up saying 'Verification failed, this disk could not be partitioned. Use disk utility to repair this disk.' so I used Disk Utility to repair my Macintosh HD. I put in the original Leopard disk, restarted my laptop while holding shift and used Boot Camp to try to partition it again, 47GB with 17GB of free space for my Mac and 8GB space for the Windows XP but it still came up with the same message saying I needed to verify it. I tried everything but it still doesn't work. I even tried backing up my data and erasing my current data but the erase, security options, erase free space and repair disk button is grayed out.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Mac won't boot. It goes to the screen with the apple and loading circle, but doesn't go past that. I've got WIN7 installed on bootcamp, so I can access that, but when I hold down option, Macintosh HD appears as EFI BOOT. I've used disc utility from my installation disc. When I've checked the permissions, it has failed. It also fails normal verification, saying "incorrect block count for file temp555244.".
I was able to select repair disk once, but that failed as well. That would say "missing thread record (id=554666),
keys out of order,
rebuilding catalog b-tree,
stopped repairing because filesystem verify or repair failed."
Someone suggested I open terminal and enter "fscl_hfs -fy/dev/disk1s0" While it ran the common and gave me a bunch of what seemed like options (r to repair btree, etc) i couldn't do anything from there. I tried entering "fsck and then /sbin/fsck -fy" as apple suggests on their site, but that did nothing.

15" Macbook Pro, Mid 2009, 500GB HD, 4GB RAM, 2.8GHZ Processor Mac OS X (10.5.8)
I was having similar problems a few days ago, when windows crashed as I was transferring files across partitions using macdrives. I had snow leopard when that happened, and reinstalled leopard. It worked fine after the reinstall, but the next day I started having these problems, which are similar in nature to the inital ones.
I am trying to install windows on my mac. I tried partitioning using bootcamp and told me that the verification failed the , thee disk could not be partitioned, use disk utility to repair this disk. My final place I want to be in is to have windows as my main operating system on my mac. Can somebody help?
Is there a way to clear the hard drive completely also?

Tried through Software Update, downloading solo via webpage....each time I get verification falied and/or invalid checksum when launching solo.
I partitioned my 320GB hard drive into 2 sections, 212GB and 108GB, I removed my 108GB partition with Disk Utility, and tried to only have one partition for my entire hard drive, but the "disk verification" fails! 108GB of my hard drive is inaccessible (it works to make a second partition over the 108GB, but I want a single partition over everything for installing windows with BootCamp) what can I do? would backing up everything and wiping my hard drive and reinstalling everything work?

Anyways, when I go into disk utility, and try to set up the partition, it fails. I have a newer uMBP, 375 free GB (trying to set up a 75 GB partition) and it just wont work. Weird. I have a 1tb external for time machine back up and have about 750 gb of stuff to back up. I was under the impression that when time machine backs up my stuff it will automatically delete the oldest backup to create room for the newer backup.
My problem is that i did a back up a couple weeks ago and then today i go to back up and it tells me back up failed only 718gb available for 740gb of stuff to back up
anyone have this problem? how can i fix it?
I use Time Machine to wirelessly backup my MBA to a Buffalo NAS. It will work fine for weeks or months, then I will see the dreaded "Time Machine completed a verification of your backups. To improve reliability, Time Machine must create a new backup for you.” error. Of course this means I lose all my backups.I have researched this pretty thoroughly and I know that using TM with a NAS has some risk. But I am hoping to not have to resort to dragging out a USB drive everytime (daily) I want to do a backup.Can anyone share sucess stories of how they make TM work reliably with a NAS? Is it a Buffalo problem and a different NAS works better?

I am trying to download MAC OSX 10.5 that I just purchased and my hard drive on the computer won't show up as a destination drive to download the software on. I erased the disk figuring that would help but it did not.

When I attempt to download a .wmv file, it appears to download (as evidenced in download manager) but then stalls forever and never finishes the job. I can download other media files without problem. I have updated WMP. Im on G4 PB 10.4.3.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIve recently downloaded a trail for the download accelerator DAP (Download Accelerator Plus) to speed up the download of a world of warcraft patch. Unfortunately, I had to delete this program when I realized that this was causing my computer to overheat due to pushing my computer's abilities through the roof. My computer has not been damaged in anyway, and i have "deleted" the program but when i still continue to try to download something it says that "DAP Plugin cannot find Download accelerator plus"; even thuogh i just deleted everything. so then i try to delete the plugin, but my mac says that "this item cannot be deleted when it is in use" but it really is not.
Can any of you help me to try to delete this plugin so i can start downloading again. After several attempts and techniques I STILL am not able to download anythinh

View 3 Replies View RelatedI moved up to the HP P1006 since my 1020 was not compatible with 10.6. It has been working great until a hotel sent me a receipt in pdf format. I open the file try to print from the pdf and from the mac, both ways and I get this:

I am not a techie, and have no idea what that means. Anyone have an idea?
I'm having a problem when trying to burn DVD's, I have get the error 'failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media', I get this error with the internal super drive and also the external Pioneer DVR-116D, I have tried 2 different brand of discs but still the same results.
I had a look around and a lot of people said about cleaning the drive worked but obviously this is happening to two drives and two brands of media, both discs are +R DL discs.
My time machine is not backing up my files anymore. Everytime I start it, it prepares for a very long time (maybe 30min or longer) and then eventually does start. But in the middle of the backup, an error pops up saying that I need to verify the space needed for the backup. But there is definitely space on my back up drive and Time Machine also recognizes the external harddrive. I've tried re-backing up a few times already but it doesn't work properly each time. I can still enter Time Machine and see the older back ups.
