I purchased a new Macbook last month and it shipped with Mac OSX 10.5.5. Is there any way I could get an updated copy with 10.5.6? I can't restore from my Time Machine until I've fully installed OSX and updated to 10.5.6.
I just updated my PowerPC G4 to Tiger 10.4.11, and now I am trying to install updated applications (Office 2008, Safari 3, Adobe 9) and none of them will install. When I double click the icons, the Installer icon bounces on the dock once or twice and then disappears.
I updated Efi firmware, but force quit twitter to install. Now system won't come on, it just shows grey screen with the spinning wheel loading. I am running lion 10.7.3.Â
I have downloaded iWork '09, tried it and registered it, and am using it on a Mini. So far, no problem.
Being an honest fellow, I had bought the "family" license, so that my wife can use it on her laptop. I copied the entire iWork folder (Keynote, Numbers & Pages) into the Applications folder on the laptop and, of course, gave her the registration key.
When she tries to launch one of the applications, she never reaches the stage of being asked to enter the key. The only thing she gets is a message saying that there is a problem, and she should check with the developer to see whether the software is compatible with her version of OS X, and it may be necessary to reinstall the software.
The OS X version is the same on both computers (10.6.5).
i will get my new 500GB seagate drive in the mail i was just wondering if i should fresh install. or just go for the standard CCC. doing a fresh install would take hours because i would need to install tiger the upgrade to leopard, then software update. then copy all the info from my old drive
i got a ibook g3 and i cant install my copy of tiger it is on cd and cant get it to boot it reads it fine if it is on desktop but not if i hold c or key it dose however boot in other macs
I just purchased the SN 10.6 family pack and would like to make a backup of the Install DVD. I have several MACs in the family and want to make sure I have an extra disk in case something happens to the original. I have Toast Titanium and I believe I can make a copy of the disk. Will this be an exact copy and will it be bootable from the DVD drive on my iMac? Are there any special settings in Toast that I have to use.? I only recently purchased Toast and am not too familiar with it at this point.
I have downloaded Lion to my Macbook Pro. We live in a rural area and are on a "low speed" high speed internet connection, so it took me ~24 hours to download. I have not yet begun the installation process, and have copied the installesd.dmg from the install folder to my desktop. We have 3 macs in our house, and I don't want to have to try to download again, as the process is so slow. Can I just copy the installesd.dmg to a DVD or flash drive to install it on the other 2 macs?Â
If this is possible, do I have to do anything special? Can I install from the flash or DVD or do I need to copy onto the target mac first? Although both other macs are backed up using time machine, I'm a little nervous about just launching an installation without really knowing what I'm doing.
I'm trying to install Windows XP on my macbook pro to play some games and use some cool applications that haven't been made for Mac OS X I have an activated copy of Windows XP with me... do you think it will work if I try to install it on my macbook pro...
I am trying to install Wireshark. The directions say to open a Finder window and navigate to /usr/local/bin. I cannot find where this is in Finder. Can someone provide me a detailed path how I can find this folder to copy Wireshark files?
How do you get a copy of Rosetta to install on 10.6.8? I have a power pc software program and need to install. Rosetta does not automatically install from the Apple servers. Is Apple discontinuing Rosetta support?
I want to install OS x on Macbook pro laptop, I have erase all data through dist utility and when i reinstall os x it will give me message like "You must sign in with an Apple ID that was used to purchase "OS X Maverick"...
Looking for the way to install my purchased copy of final cut pro x onto another Imac that I have at home. The app is not showing up in my account to access. Shows that I purchased it and the date, but no app. It is currently installed on my Mac Book Pro. No problems there.
I would like to re-install OSX 10.7, how do I find the copy of the install disk? Can I just use a software process to re-install? Clean install, not a backup.
I just did a clean install of Snow Leopard on my older macbook. I did not specifically back up my itunes purchases, however, I did do several Time Machine back ups as well as manually moving data via Finder (copy "Macintosh HD" and paste to folder on external), and finally a clone using CarbonCopyCloner. I wanted to start fresh, but I failed to think of my iTunes purchases, as well as iPhone app purchases/downloads. Is there some way I can specifically restore iTunes from the back up without having to restore from a TimeMachine backup?
Would anyone with the Aluminum MacBook 08 install disks be willing to upload an ISO copy for me?
Obviously I am NOT trying to pirate anything, as I obviously own this machine (or else it wouldn't work) and just want to install iLife etc from it (I'm running Snow Leopard that I bought now). Apple wants $32 to replace these disks -- more than Snow Leopard costs. Apple replaced my MacBook before and I accidentally kept the wrong DVDs. Just trying to save a few bucks.
I think I have found a flaw in OSX 10.6.4 file copying..I normall back up my files, by dragging from a folder on my HD to an identical folder on my external HD.The folder I am copying has 86 files in it, but there are only about two dozen new files added since my last back up.I have been telling it by the dialogue box, not to replace identical files in the back up folder, and clicking the check box to apply to all."but when I press the dont copy button, in the copy progress box it says it is copying 86 files. WTF is going on...!@#$%^&*().
I have two new iMac 20", did the update 10.5.3 for both units unit A now won't load safari, when i downloaded safari 3.1.1 it won't install "this needs 10.5.2" but "about this mac" says 10.5.3 tried software update again, and nothing to update. Unit B--same update, but safari runs fine.
some suggested that we reinstall safari from the install discs that came with the computer
I can't print to my network computer after 10.6.3. I can however print using Parallels, but I can't print from say preview or any other OSX based software.
The printer is an HP 4200 Laser jet that I access through an ethernet on my work network. I'm the only Mac in the office and am getting ridiculed for not being able to print from OSX.I tried downloading the HP drivers and re installing them but no luck...
I bought Snow Leapord when it was originally released but never installed it. But now I wanted to go ahead and finally get rid of Leapord, but was wondering if the copies of SL that Apple sells in the stores are updated already with the latest updates or are they just the same original CD from the initial launch?I would prefer to install SL which has all the latest updates and Boot Camp drivers already on the disk.I know it won't be exactly up to date, but fairly recent.
I have a mid 2007 white 17" iMac, a mid 2007 mac mini, a late 2007 20" Aluminum iMac, and a late 2009 13.3" MBP. How can I tell if all of these computers have the latest firmware updates on them? If I simply do the software updates will that update the firmware?
