OS X :: Transfer Mail/photos From A 10.4.11 System To A New IMac ?
Nov 10, 2010
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)
Have an emac running 10.4.11 and iPhoto '08 (7.1.5). Moving to a new imac. I'm really only concerned with transferring my iPhoto library and mail - how is this done? I've got an external FW drive enclosure coming. But from that point, with the external drive now connected to the iMac ... is it as simple as dragging the library over to the new iMac (any compatibility issues between OS or iPhoto versions?). And what about mail - is there a need to actually transfer messages over or will they all be downloaded from the server upon first login?
When I transfer my photos from Iphone to iMac I cannot view or edit those photos or any of my previous photos or scans. I am a new IMac user. This problem just began yesterday. I have not had any issues before this.
I just purchased a new iMac 21.5 inch desktop and I'd like to take the hard drive out of my old macbook pro and transfer my iPhoto and iTunes library to this new desktop. How would I do that and what would I need? The macbook pro model is a 2010 13.3 2.4 2x2gb 250gb part number MC374LL/A.
Info: Apple MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" Mid-2010, Mac OS X (10.6.5)
I just got a new macbook pro and have been using Mail with it for a while now. What I want to do is transfer my inbox messages from Mail on an old macbook into the inbox of Mail on my new MBP. Is there anyway to do this and still keep the new emails that Mail has collected on my MBP?
My husband just ordered a new 13 inch MB for me for Christmas. When it arrives next week I want to get it all set up before he wraps it and "hides" it from me (he said I could so it's ready to go on Christmas morning). So I need to know the easiest and best way to get my files (bookmarks, mail, printer, applications, etc) from the old to the new. I use an external hard drive and super duper to back up. I've never done this before. Would a genius bar do it for me?
I just bought a new iMac to replace my 8 year old MacPro and was advised here to install all apps with a clean install rather than migrate 8 years of content over to the new machine. How do I transfer over my Contacts, Mail folders and Safari bookmarks?
I have the 1.67 GHz, 1.5 GB Powerbook G4 (the last one that came out before the new Intel chip one).
We have a lot of photos on my husband's PC, using the JASC photo software. I'm not sure if the software can only be used with a PC or not (anyone here know if you can simply put in the software disc and click on a "Mac" or "Pc" option? I'm pretty ignorant about computer stuff in general, as you can see.
What happens if the mac laptop will accept a disc of transferred photos but each photo has some file name permanently attached to it? Might that happen? Will the laptop recognize it? Can I transfer such photos into the photo software that the mac came with?
Finally, once we've figured out how to transfer the photos (or my favorites anyway) from the PC to the mac, how simple will it be to just transfer the future photos straight from my camera? It's a Canon A70 Powershot,
New to this, so hope this isn't an old question - I did look and couldn't find it I want to transfer my photos currently on PC to my mac. I have been told that if I do so through an external hard drive then they will load onto the mac as one event. If that is the case I'd prefer another way ... as I have over 19,000 photo's currently sitting in folders according to year, month and then the specific event.
Ok so recently my hard drive died and i lost all my files including my photos from my computer. I know that i have all the photos on my ipod but i don't know how to get them off. I've searched and there are apps that remove the files but i don't have the cash to buy the apps. is there any manual way to remove the photos or a freeware app?
P.S I've tried going into the photos file on my ipod but all there is, are .ithmb 's that i don't know what to do with. BTW im running on Mac OS X Leopard.
I want to transfer my fotos and videos from Aperture on my old mac, to a new mac. I have tried to create a vault on an external drive, and then open it from Aperture on my new mac, but nothing happens when I open the vault - a new library is available, but no fotos/videos.
Then I have tried to export some on my projects as a new library, and this works. I can open the fotos, but a lot of fotos/videos now have a small yellow triangle in the right corner. The videos that have this triangle will not play in Aperture, whereas the videos without this triangle are ok.
I have a mac book pro system 10.5.8 I life 09 I noticed your post and thought you might know what to do? I created another iPhoto library on my external hard drive. With photos from 2007-2008 Deleted them from the main iPhoto. Then in 2008 I carbon copied my computer to the external hard drive. I ended up with 3 iPhoto libraries. I wanted to only have one on the external hard drive and today after not enough research I drug the iphoto icon on top of the one in the user folder on to the iphoto icon. The photos are not showing up in my iphoto library when I open the iphoto on the external HD. I do a rt click and open the iphoto package and the photos are all there with all information How do I get them to show up when I open the external hard drive or am I fried?
I just started a new account for my wife on our iMac. Before that all our music, photos, contacts, etc were on my account. My question is, how can I transfer the music over to her account and also how can I get her contacts on her phone over to itunes?
I am planning on buying an ipad2 soon. How do I transfer all my photos from my old G4 powermac to the new coputer. The photos are all stored via iphoto on the old computer
Can I transfer music photos from my old pc to my new Mac, plus I have a hard drive that is Mac compatible but all the stuff is from my pc will it transfer
I have my iMac here which I use to Sync my iPhone 6 Plus - This iMac 'belongs' to my iPhone 6 plus if you know what I mean..
Now a friend of mine who does not own a computer, just bought an iPhone 6 and wants to move all the photos form his old iPhone 4S to the new Phone..
So.. I imported all his Photos to iPhoto on my iMac.
Now when I open up iTunes on my iMac it immediately says to me 'Welcome to you new iPhone'.. and wants me to continue.
What do I do from here? I want to use iTunes to move all the photos from the iPhoto event I created to his new phone and this is a one off..
Is it possible to do this without messing up any future syncing between my own iMac and Phone??
Or is there some other way I can get his Photos from iPhoto on to his Phone? I am assuming that iTunes is the only way without of course having to deal with third party apps.
