View 6 Repliesmy brother has an old ibook with tons of songs and things.
He also got a new SR Macbook with Leopard. He zeroed the drive and clean installed Leopard.
How can he now go about transferring all of his files from the ibook to the Macbook?
how do I transfer all of my data from my ibook to my new macbook pro? I just bought a western digital 250 gb hard drive and I already just backed up all of my ibook stuff on the external hard drive.
So i assume once my new laptop comes in, I just plug in the external hard drive to the macbook pro and transfer it. Is it really that simple or am I missing something? Will all of my pictures and music go directly into iphoto and itunes or will I have to mannually do that? That would be a real pain if I had to manually do it.
I tried searching the apple website, and it talks about using migration assistant with firewire to transfer the files.
Now that the new macbook doesn't have firewire port, how do I transfer files and applications from my iBook?
I just purchased a new macbook and am attempting to transfer files using migration assistant. However, migration assistant on my ibook says that it will only work in transferring files to the ibook not from the ibook.

I restarted my old computer holding the T and the firewire symbol appeared fine. My new macbook states that i can't transfer info without OSX installed....my old computer has OSX leopard ...i tried re-starting again and the same pop-up message as before is displayed in set-up
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a new 15" Macbook Pro to replace my old iBook G4 and want to transfer information to the new one. The Migration Assistant says I have a few options and I am deciding between these two:
1. Transfer info from another Mac
2. Transfer info from a Time Machine backup
Which would offer the most flexibility so I don't transfer too much? I'd like to start fresh but need my photos, internet files, etc. My last time machine backup was yesterday so it's pretty up to date, but I'm worried it will transfer too much crap since it backs up the whole drive.
I connected it via ethernet to her old iBook, and unfortunately the iBook doesn't have a Set-up Assistant or Migration Manager, so we're unable to transfer over her address book entries or old emails.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my current computer is an iBook G4, running 10.4. It's been a good computer for me, but it is certainly starting to show it's age and slowing down. I'm thinking of upgrading to a Macbook Pro with 10.6. My question is what would be the best way to transfer my data from my iBook to a new Macbook Pro? Thank you.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have and old iBook 14" G4 that will not boot. I'm trying to transfer files and apps to a MBP. I've pulled the HD and have it connected to my MBP using an external HD adapter. I tried using Migration Assistant to move the data but the only choice I have is to move the profile and not the rest of the data. Does anyone have a suggestion for a workaround?

I am not able to get 20 pictures off my digital Kodak EasyShare DX4530 to my computer using a USB cable and ImageCapture or iPhoto. The photos appear (I can see all the photos and files) but I am unable to transfer them or even open them and get information off. I think that this is because the pictures are saved on the Kodak camera's internal memory. What can I do to get around this problem?

MacBook Pro - I scanned in photos and they entered into the computer in tif file. I tried several different ways to convert them to jpg. I finally read that if I transferred them into iPhoto they would automatically go into jpg form. I went to use them for the website I am making and they still can't be transferred so I am assuming that they are still in tif format.

I have a G3 iBook and just the other day the display stopped working. There were no signs of the display going bad, it's just went. Am I able to boot the iBook via Target Disk Mode on my PowerBook and run the iBook Hardware Test CD on it? Also, can I reboot my PowerBook and choose the iBook as the startup volume?
I know how to do Target Disk Mode but the latter I'm not sure about.
