my mac has a virus or settings have been changed, but every time i click on either a link or open a new page i get extra pages open with random spam stuff and the mac keeper pages keeps opening. my settings for the default search engine keep changing too.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI was doing a search tonight and noticed that it bounced over to Google. I have Bing as my default search engine in my Safari preferences. As a test, I changed my default to Yahoo and the same thing happened. I closed out Safari and started it up again. When I entered some search criteria in the field, it showed the words "--Bing Search" just like before, but Google then took over. How can I fix this?

I would like to know whether it is possible to change the smart folders preferences in what to search by default. What I mean is in the "window" spotlight, when you search on it, by default is searches on "This mac" and on "Content", my question is whether this is changeable. For reasons that I will not go into here, I have a first initial and middle name, not a first name and middle initial like most people. It played havoc with the registrar at my college. My Address Book card has my first name as "G" and my middle name as "Ralph". Whenever programs automatically fill in my name, they use my first initial only. For example, Pages puts my author name as "G Kuntz". Is there any way to get my default name to be "G Ralph Kuntz", other than setting my first name to "G Ralph" and my middle name to blank ("")?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Epson Workforce 845 Printer. It is working well. However, I am running into one annoyance. The Epson printer will take envelopes in Cassette 1. I ahve envelopes loaded there and plain letter paper in Cassette 2. When I print an envelope it is no problem. I simply in the Print dialog select the Envelope preset and it works well. However, I don't wish to select a plain paper preset *each time* I print an ordinary document. However, the Default print settings defaults to Casette1 and I see no way to force it to default to cassette 2 except when I don't select an override.

I would like to change the default text substitution settings for my annotations in Preview. Specifically, I want to disable smart quotation substitutions in my notes. I often copy-paste them into Word files, and I want them free of this reformatting. I know how to disable quotation mark substitution in a given pdf, but I would really like to disable this feature for all pdfs by default.

So after searching and figuring out how to change the default font for most everywhere on Pages [URL], I am still having trouble changing footnotes/endnotes to Times New Roman as the default font. On my desired document, I create a new footnote, type something, change the entire font to Times New Roman, then delete the footnote before saving as a template.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSomething I've done in the past few days has caused Safari to not change color for visited links "only" on Google search pages, which is where it's most needed. This is still working fine on FireFox. I tried creating another user account and it works fine with that...just not with my primary account.
I've done all the typical things...repaired permissions, repaired disk, completely reset Safari to default and made sure all caches, etc. were cleaned out...both manually and with Onyx, reset associated .plist files, history, cookies, private browsing...
Returning to a Google search page still shows all visited links as blue, as if they'd never been visited. Another clue is if I log out of my Google account (which I have to be logged into 24/7 for Gmail, Google bookmarks, iGoogle, etc., it starts working, then stops working as soon as I log into my Google account again. I posted this on Google Groups but got no response.
This also works fine on my wife's Mac, so it's definitely a problem just in my user account. I know I could just add a new account and use that, but it would mean re-installing all 70 applications I have now installed as they're not setup for use except with my account. I'd like to avoid that and find the actual culprit. BTW, this worked fine for a long time...just quit working about a week ago, but it wasn't in conjunction with any new hardware or software.

The Folders keep snapping open and when i release click it drops the selected folder in the folder below and not in-between the two folders i want to order them in. I have turn off spring loaded folders. Also i can't seam to organise them alphabetically like you can with a right click option in windows.
