I've got a really annoying problem on my mac that I'd do anything to get rid of. When I play a streamed movie or tv programme off the net (ie from iplayer or 4OD) firstly the mouse doesn't disappear after 3-4 seconds and is always visible on screen and secondly on some occasions the screen just goes white! I have to quit playback and then go back to full screen to get rid of it.

I currently have a powermac g4 gigabit ethernet model. It has a 400mhz cpu, 1gb RAM, and an ati rage pro video card with 16mb video memory. When I try to watch youtube videos (or any other online videos), it is choppy. I am looking into purchasing a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver. It would have a 1.4 ghz sonnet PPC cpu, 1 GB Ram, and an upgraded video card (I think ati) with 64mb video memory. I can get this quicksilver system for 250CDN.
Do you think that the quicksilver will be able to handle youtube videos better. Do you think it will be a major overall increase in preformance. I want to run flash cs3/cs4 on it. Currently on my gigabit ethernet model, flash cs4 runs pretty slow. In the end, do you think I will notice a overall increase in everything I do (including video streaming)? Please let me know if you think the quicksilver is a good upgrade.

When I play the videos with VLC I notice choppiness when things move too fast across the screen. Is this a limitation of the hardware (the integrated GPU?) Anyway I can perhaps smooth it out?

I animated a still image in Motion 4 but when it plays in FCP 7 it doesn't play smooth. I simply adds an image and then added a camera. I then added a move behavior and repositioned the image as well as have it zoom out. The problem is it looks very Jittery/choppy does anyone know why this would be happening and if so any ways to fix it?

i DVD project dose not play smoothly when I put the DVD into PC's at work. It has alway worked before but now it seems the spin rate isn't keeping up. I saved it in Best mode and Professional mode and both are stop and go and jerky. It is also formated for Mac and PC

I could have sworn that my G5 used to be able to play all levels of HD movies smoothly as anything sometime during normal Tiger usage.
Then one day, I noticed my G5 when on Tiger would stutter playing anything about 480.
I thought the upgrade to Leopard would fix this. But just today I upgraded to 10.5.3 on this G5 (I used the upgrade option on the install DVD to upgrade from Tiger) and it STILL won't play HD trailers 720 or 1080 smoothly.
is this supposed to be? Do I not have the minimum requirements to watch those kinds of resolutions anymore?
I know this machine is 4 years old now, but seriously? That seems crazy to me.
Does anyone else have this configuration and see similar or different behavior?

I have a MacBook Pro running all the latest software and it seems that Safari's having trouble playing things, like videos. Nothing works: Flash, HTML5 or QuickTime. Tried it all. MP3s won't play in the browser either. I've looked around and many of the other people who have this problem have it magically disappear with an update, no such luck for me. Apple isn't going to be useful for less than $49 either.

A pop up window sometimes also appears on safari saying "Flash Player (Safari Internet Plugin) quit unexpectedly". I installed chrome after I identified that videos didnt play in safari but videos still didn't play. I also tried uninstalling and re-installing flash which did nothing! So I deleted them and thought I could start again. Have installed Firefox 10.0.2 in my iMac (2.93 Ghz Core i7) using OS 10.6.8.Firefox will not paly any Quicktime videos and asks that Quicktime plugin be installed. Quicktime plug in is not listed in the list of available Firefox add-ons.I do notice in my Library in the Internet Plug-ins folder a Firefox_Quicktime plug-in seems to be listed. When I try to choose it from the drop down list: Install Add-on from File the Firefox add-on is gray and unavailable.I like using Firefox but not being able to see Quicktime videos is irksome. Any clue as to what is wrong and how I can fix it. I have searched the archives and see others have had this problem but other than deinstalling and hoping a reinstall works is there any other remedy.
