Is the (command-grave accent) shortcut a useful shortcut for some application? I would like to use it for the Witch application, but it says it's 'taken by another application'. If I won't ever need to use said shortcut, I'll just keep it as it is.
View 2 RepliesI finally realized that I never use the four finger swipe to switch apps, thus I changed it to switch between spaces. Now I need short cuts of some sort to easily send windows into another space. I used to use the left bottom corner to open spaces and than move the windows around but that is inconvenient and slow. Is there any short cut that I press that moves any given window to another space. Or how can I create one. I have BetterTouchTool but I didn't find any command to make this happen. I am thinking of something like option+2 to send a window into the second space. In XP I had something similar to spaces and with ctrl+3 I switched to the 3rd space and with alt/opt+3 the active window moved to the 3 space.

On my old whitebook I believe I had it to be simply F11, but can't get a one button shortcut for it on my MBP 13inch. I would'nt even mind-in fact I would love a trackpad shortcut... ...Here's hoping someone reads this and provides an interesting shortcut.

I have checked multiple support sites, and all indicate the same shortcut. I even tried "adding" the shortcut in the "Application Shortcuts" screen in Preferences.

For no apparent reason the command-space keyboard shortcut no longer works for opening Spotlight. I go into the preferences for Spotlight and it shows no keyboard shortcut, I make it command-space again, exit, and it still doesn't work. If I go back into the preferences, it is blank again. What is going on?

I edit text with these keystrokes all the time and now that I've upgraded to Lion and Safari 5.1.5 I run into problems with my workflow.
I just want (delete) to delete text and (Command + Arrow Key) to select a whole line of text.
So you know how when you use a key command, the menu title under which it resides will flash blue momentarily? (i.e. file, edit, or view). No matter what application I am running, if I use Command + G, the edit menu flashes blue and nothing happens.
In Photoshop I need this command to group layers. In Bridge I need it so I can stack groups. In I-movie I need it to view videos as full screen. Of course I could drag my mouse up to the menu bar everytime instead, but I WANT MY KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS BACK :-(
I have tried using disk utility and doing an archive and install, but the problem isn't fixed. the command works fine if I sign in as another user. Ideas?

Doesn't seem to work. I want to add a keyboard shortcut to open Plex. Preferably command + shift + P.
But under Snow Leopard, I go under Keyboard, Keyboard Shortcuts, +, All Applications, "Plex..." (no quotation marks), command-shift-P
Is there a way to move an application to another space in Spaces using a keyboard shortcut? For example if anyone is familiar with Compiz or Beryl you can use control+alt+shift+directional key to move an application to a new space without using the mouse or the mode where you can see all the spaces at ounce.

Note: You can create keyboard shortcuts only for existing menu commands. You cannot define keyboard shortcuts for general purpose tasks such as opening an application or switching between applications. Am I slow, or is this saying I can't "quick launch" an app with a press of one button? Is this really true? Is there no "one touch" way to launch stuff? (And not on startup - I've got that figured out.)

I've just installed the BRL-CAD application and it need a command line input (/usr/brlcad/bin) to the System - see below. I am not that familiar with the commands although no problem getting into the Terminal. I just don't want to screw this up. I am running a Mac Mini, 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, OS 10.6.5. I need some step-by-step info in getting this embedded and the application up and running.
Setting Up the Path:
Once installed, you will need to add /usr/brlcad/bin to your system
PATH. For Bourne shell users, you can run the following:
PATH=/usr/brlcad/bin:$PATH ; export PATH
For C shell users, this should do the same thing:
set path=( /usr/brlcad/bin $path ) ; rehash
I've been trying to install some software, however, every time I try to do the "make" command on a Makefile, I get the following error: -bash: make: command not found. The manual page does not exists either. I have no idea why the "make" command doesn't exists. I might have added a missing command in the past, but I don't remember. I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.7. Can anyone guess what the problem is?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis morning when i turned on my Mac, i noticed that the F5 and F6 key was not working (higher and lower brightness of keyboard) so i went to System Preferences>Keyboard&Mouse and i clicked 'Restore Default' thinking this would restore the old settings of F5 and F6. I then noticed i had accidentally changed all old keyboard shortcuts from F1 to F12, I wanna find out how to change my keyboard settings back to F8 for 'Play/Pause' F11 for volume decrease, F12 for volume increase etc.

I use iWork, and this function is under "format-font-baseline-superscript", I try to use the shortcut "control+command+plus", while it doesn't work.
The shortcut works properly for a subscript symbol.
I set my fn key to display all windows (same as F3 default). I would like to remove this, but it doesn't show up on the system preferences shortcut list. Pressing "Restore Defaults" does nothing to alleviate the problem. Is there a way that I could reset all of my default shortcuts through terminal or something more powerful than system preferences?

However, when running on battery I want everything I can squeeze out of my mac so I tend to dismount the drive when on battery power. Dismounting is easy, just right click and eject, but mounting it back requires going into Disk Utility. Is there a way I can place a shortcut to mounting the disk/write some script so I don't have to go all the way to Disk Utility? Even better, maybe there is a way to code a script that would automatically mount the disk when I switch from battery to AC?
