I'm in terrible, horrible situation about Command+Space shourtcut on my snow leopard system. I have to remove or change that shortcut but I could not any solution or way to do that. How can I remove r change that shortcut? or is it possible to disable or totally remove quick look tool from system (off course I don't know in that case that shortcut can be released).
Back in the days I used a PC, I used to be able to assign custom quick phrases (like "Sincerely, Emily") as a keyboard shortcut. For instance I'd assign my phrase to F3 or something...and then voila!!! I could insert commonly typed phrases into my emails or word processing. SO NICE! And I miss that. Anyone seen this feature in Mac Mail?
I need to be able to change my IP address to watch my TV show on megavideo.. they ask me to wait 58 minutes every time I finish an episode of heroes. Is there a quick command I can just type in the terminal or another simple trick I can use?
When returning to my login account (admin) after using "quick user account change" I am not able to use the Shift key to enter uppercase letters in my password. I must use Caps Lock to enter them (nothing happens if I type while holding the Shift key).
At all other times the shift work just fine.
This seems really strange.
Note: This is not a sticky key issue (brand new iMac).
This morning when i turned on my Mac, i noticed that the F5 and F6 key was not working (higher and lower brightness of keyboard) so i went to System Preferences>Keyboard&Mouse and i clicked 'Restore Default' thinking this would restore the old settings of F5 and F6. I then noticed i had accidentally changed all old keyboard shortcuts from F1 to F12, I wanna find out how to change my keyboard settings back to F8 for 'Play/Pause' F11 for volume decrease, F12 for volume increase etc.
I've noticed by default everyone else's computers with Safari on them do CMD+W to close tabs, but for some reason mine does OPT+T. It's become a serious impediment to my browsing.
I try to change it to Command + D and it won't work. I've also tried to change it to other combinations and none work. Even when I untick the Look Up in Dictionary box, the original Command + Control + D still works.
I used the migration assistant to move most of my stuff from my old MBP to my new one, but that seems to have had the strange effect of keeping the keyboard settings for the old MBP. Very simply, I'd like to set f12 to increase volume, F11 to decrease etc. but I can't work out where I would change those settings. I've been able to change things like expose and dashboard, but this is proving to be a pain in the backside.
Is it possible to change the shortcut to cycle through windows in an open applications?
Right now the shortcut on my Danish MBP is CMD+< (the button right to the left shift button), but I would rather have it to be something like CMD+$ (button over the tap button).
Its possible to set up a keyboard shortcut for iwork that will change the color of my text as I'm typing? I had a setup back on windows office using macros that worked quite well but going back to office is obviously not an option.
I have just purchased the 11.6" MacBook Air and noticed the addition of the right click button at the bottom of the trackpad.
When I am in Firefox and am using an external mouse, I frequently use middle click to open a link in a new tab, followed by the use of an auxiliary button on the mouse, programmed with the keystroke "control tab" and another with "control shift tab" to switch back and forth quickly between multiple tabs.
My Questions: Is there any way to "remap" the right click key at the bottom of the MBA's trackpad and assign it to "middle click" when I am in Firefox, Safari, or Chrome (or just Firefox)? I am aware of "command + click" but am looking for something even faster.
Also, is there such thing as a trackpad gesture (or a way to program one) or any other quicker way of advancing forward though tabs besides the keystroke, "control tab"?
It has never been answered explicitly, so just give me a yes or no, and ONLY if you have installed it from the retail box. Is 10A432 the GM-build, yes or no?
I am new to Apple and have always used windows in the past. I always found it easy to right click and copy and paste in windows, but find it very hard with my mac. I try to highlight words that I want to copy and find in hard to bring up the copy sign. What is the quickest way to C and P on the mac
I have been using spotlight and google to find the answer but came up kind of empty.i have a 13" MPB and i want to take out a couple of pics with the isight camera, how do i do that? i know how to use it while using skype or yahoo but how do i get it to take standalone pics?
I've got 10.6 and iWork 08. Someone emailed me a Numbers 09 document which simply would not open, be it in iWork, Preview or anything else I tried. But I can see it in Quicklook. So the computer DOES understand the document, so is Apple just crippling everything else to persuade me to buy iWork 09 (which I can't see have any real improvements over 08)?
a few days ago, (after reseting my computer with time machine) my Quick Look stoped working. all that hapens when i hit the space bar (or any other way of opinging quicklook) is the big grey box with nothing in it. I can still see the prevews of the items with coverflow.
When i checked console i got this message every time i trie to open a file " Finder[103]: [QL] Display bundle <QLGenericDisplayBundle: 0x11638e120> did not return a layer although it was required to because it did not return a view either."
I have Snow Leopard on my iMac, and I just downloaded the newest version of Flip4Mac (2.3.0.14) today.
My previous version of flip4mac allowed me to play and skip through wmv movies in Quick Look, but this new version won't allow me to do that anymore.
The wmv movies still play fine in QuickTime and VLC Players (I added these applications to the preference pane for flip4mac as suggested by others), but they won't play properly in Quick Look.
Is there a way to fix this, or is the newest flip4mac version not fully compatible with Snow Leopard yet?
It happened 3 times today and at most 20 times within the last 3 months. When using Quick Look to view movie files, the movie freezes and the Finder restarts. Kinda annoying. No error message shows up after the restart.
I bought a new MacBook Air 11" in April 2011 (as birthday gift to myself), but I wanted a larger screen, so I bought a new MacBook Air 13" in December. Now I notice that the 11" starts directly, much quicker than the 13", which needs up to half a minute to be ready. The marker does not move for 15 seconds. Why is it so, and what can I do to get the same quick start from sleep mode?Otherwise they are both fine.
This is probably a silly question but when i view my mail i used to get the message come up below but i've pressed something and I can't get it back. Now i have too double click on the message to view it on another window.
