Windows On Mac :: BootCamp - XP And OS X Both Installed On Laptop
Sep 12, 2010I have Macbook Pro With OS X. I am new to mac. I try to use bootcamp and make a 32 gb partition in my mac. And I put a CD of XP in cd drive when it restart it show me no bootable disk found something like that on a black screen. Then I restart again and press and hold c key nothing happen. After that I try to hold my option button and I saw a grey screen with a harddisk but unable to find the cd icon same story with windows 7 and vista dvd but when I try to use Mac OS X cd that come with bundle. It show me the icon of mac cd on grey screen near the hard disk icon when I hold the option button. I also check the cd and dvd on a windows boot perfectly. And when I insert disk in mac it works fine and also shows the icon of cd and dvd on mac desktop. I would like to have XP and mac OSX on my laptop.

OS X :: Desktop Access From Laptop?

-a Mac Pro with 3 screens, from which I use 6 "Spaces" with various projects on each one...
-a 13" macbook pro
From within my local wireless network, I would like to be able to access individual space's screens from my laptop. Or at the very least, be able to easily work on a certain app/window on my desktop from my laptop.

But I am going to be building a windows desktop soon for gaming, photoshop, animation, etc. Can't afford a Mac Pro, so I don't have too much of an option. I'm sort of looking into running a hackintosh but I won't bring that up here b/c my guess is that we're not allowed to discuss it?Basically I want to know what my options are for using a Windows box for games and intensive tasks while using the Macbook Pro for all the other stuff (web browsing, ilife, etc.)So My options that I was considering were these:

Here's the situation: I would like to have a setup where my Macbook Pro is completely in sync with my Mac Mini. Emails, files, settings, favorites, etc. Ideally, I want complete transparency in that I can work on stuff on my laptop, shut it down, come home and sit down at my Mini and be completely ready to continue working.

Nov 2, 2009I thought I'd help my Dad out by upgrading his MacBook Pro from 10.5.1 to 10.5.8. I downloaded using software update. I acknowledged the restart request. After a quick 'reboot' of sorts I have a blue screen with 'Installing 1 Item', a 1cm pulsing bar and 'configuring installation underneath. This has persisted for 4 hours. A Mac friend recommended letting it run all night, but it keeps going to sleep. I am waking it every ten minutes.
I was thinking of forcing shutdown and rebooting in Target from my powerbook, repairing permissions, and reinstalling the upgrade from a disk image instead. I need to get into the drive to quickly backup the home folder, although I did backup a few documents that I think were important before all this.
IMac :: ATI 4850 - Desktop Or Laptop?

My question is, how do I transfer Photoshop CS 2 from my laptop to the new G5 drive? I don't want to buy another $200 CS2 app.

I'm wondering if it's possible to drag and drop PROGRAMS (self contained ones are obvious, but I'm talking programs like Creative Suite 4) over to my new computer? I'm guessing that certain programs that require registration will need the registrations to be re-entered? Sep 8, 2009I have a G4, dual 450, 1G Ram running 10.4.11. Recently after downloading and opening an .rar file, a file named .DS_Store appeared on the desktop. I have since deleted the .rar file, but cannot delete the .DS file. It is appearing now in all of my programs, including my camera when I plug it in. I've tried ClamXav, MacScan, and DnsChangerRemovaltool, also What'sKeepingMe, but nothing can remove it. Info says it's a document, 16 KB, and it reads as date created the last time I turned the machine on. Can anyone tell me what this is and how I can get rid of it?

Nov 29, 2007I am relatively new to the Mac. I have a Macbook Pro 2.2GHz. Today, a file keeps popping up on my desktop. It is named .DS_Store. The icon looks like a text document. I won't open it cuz I'm afraid of what it is, lol (Windows still clogging my brain). Anyway, I can drag it to the trash and delete the trash, but after a bit, it reappears.

Jun 27, 2010I am a late 2006 macbook pro 17" with broken LCD screen casing. For now i used superglue to put it back together, but if the computer gets hot i think the superglue will melt and cause problems.i have been told its impossible to find a replacement screen for this model cheap enough to make it worthy of repair.I am thinking of turning it into a desktop by getting an external monitor. Can I remove the LCD screen entirely off the macbook pro so it's just the body, and then connect it to a new monitor? this way i can still use the keyboard/mouse, and not have to worry about the existing screen and superglue, melting.
