I am having a website built, the web guys have set up templates for me to upload photos etc onto..
Using Lion, I have tried to re-size an image using Preview and every time I try to save my edited image it tells me I do not have permission to save this/the file is locked when I have full permissions to do so and the file is NOT locked.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUnder XP, it's in the Powertoys and is called Image Resizer.
(Not 'officially' available for Vista.)
What you can do is browse any folder and choose multiple images.
Then, you right click and on the menu that pops up you get an image resize option.
You can resize to the size you want - hey presto, all images are resized (and optimised)!
I recently put up an e-commerce site and as part of entering products I can input images in 3 sizes.
1. 100 x 80 which is used for photos put on the main page of the website to be clicked on for further information
2. 200 x 250 to be used for the image in the actual product description
3. 300 x 400 to be used as a larger photo as a pop-up picture if someone wants to see a larger picture.
The pictures can vary in size but unless the variation is small the pictures will all very in size on the main page of my website which will give it a bad appearance.
Unfortunately when I get stock photos many vary in size. I want to know if there's an easy way to resize pictures. The only concerns I have is that making them larger may make them appear stretched or making them smaller may give the opposite appearance. Also, since I am doing this to many pictures I want a solution that is quick and easy, maybe as simple as taking a picture, choosing a new size, and saving it with the change.
I currently have the Adobe Creative Suite 3 with PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Fireworks but am not sure if this does it in an easy way and of course I prefer to use Mac over Windows
im on a goal to resize my bootcamp partition... im running 10.6.4 with Win7 in Bootcamp... i made a mistake of only making a 80GB partition for windows 7.... now i want to make it bigger, i have read up on a number of methods but most are outdated and users report issues with windows 7 and SL so i'm a lil stuck... this is my idea
I have 120GB unused HDD space atm so could i.. back up my 80GB partition to a DMG with disk utility then delete the old partition making the whole 200GB unallocated space... then use the bootcamp utility to re occupy the space then use disk utilities restore option to restore the image of the 80GB to the new 200GB partition... would this work? if not has anyone got any other methods to use with 10.6.4 SL and Win7?
If I wanted to post on a forum a picture I need to have the image text and use that to insert the image itself. How do I get the image text from iPhoto, Photobooth, and Preview?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I send a photo as an attachment in Windows, it appears on the other end as an attachment, not as an actual image in the preview window. Is there a way to make Mac Mail function similarly? I can't seem to find it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running OS X 10.4.11, and I cannot get either Image Capture or Preview to do their scan function. Neither program will recognize my Epson Stylus NX400 scanner/printer. Both programs just give me a message stating that the SANE program is in use by another application ( I downloaded some TWAIN SANE files for my version of Gimp, which also does not want to recognize the Epson).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know when this started happening, but all of a sudden in coverflow all the images display as their file type icon, not the preview of the image, which defeats the purpose of coverflow. Anyone know how this happened and how to switch it back?
Incidentally, all the icons show for Xee, the image browsing app, which I'm using only because Preview is being a jerk and constantly displaying itself in my secondary monitor, which I keep off most of the time (it's a wacom cintiq, and it's distracting to have turned on when not in use). If I can somehow fix this all by fixing preview and getting rid of Xee, I certainly would.
A couple OS's ago I remember if you opened a finder window on your desktop and if the column view was open it would attempt to create a preview, making your system completely useless until that preview was generated. It seems that this has been mostly addressed in Leopard, but still exists somewhat. But I've now discovered sadly another place where it exists and it has just cost me an hour of uploading time. getting info on idisk. I was uploading a large photoshop file on my idisk, 2GB, and I had 2 minutes left.
I accidentally did command I on a file on my idisk directory thinking it was my local directory. The file I got info on was 1.4GB.. it's now stuck trying to generate a preview image for that damn photoshop file and my poor 2GB upload that was 2 minutes away has apparently decided it was less important to finish uploading and to generate this damn preview! Which probably entails downloading the whole thing first.
I am having problems with Preview and Snow Leopard. I can use Quick View to view jpeg files, but when I open them with preview. It does not display the correct image. It just displays a gray block. The only way to resolves this is to delete the preview prefernce files, and then it works. But after a couple of restarts it goes back to not displaying the correct image.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a newly refurbished emac running the latest OSX 10.9.3. I used to be able to move images from iPhoto to the desktop and using Preview change the file size. I need to do this to upload images of a specific size to a website. Now Preview will not save the adjusted image size. I adjust the size from a 5 meg image to a 1.5 meg image but when I go to upload the image it is still 5 meg. I try saving it before closing it but it doesn't do anything (by the way I hate the new options or lack thereof when it comes to saving in Preview)
View 3 Replies View RelatedCannot open Preview on my MacBook Pro. I can't open any type of image file. It will preview for a second and then the report Don't Reopen/Reopen screen comes up.
A window pops up and says "Cannot open Preview. States "The last time you opened Preview, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows." when I try."

When I print a color picure from Preview, areas of medium color like an evening sky show bands about one inch wide. parallel to the print head movement direction. So one inch tall band will be lighter, the next darker. These are subtle differences, but ruin the print. I've contacted Epson who told me to try all the things I had already tried e.g. clean, calibrate, & align printer, new Epson brad ink, etc. They said if that didn't work it was the computer, or the cable, which I find unlikely. So I then tried printing from Gimp and Picasa, which did not have the problem, but also printed at the correcct size instead of expanding the image to fit the paper. This happens with both small images 320X231 as well as large ones 1600X1200
I read a comment in the community written in 2009 that said "After you choose File -> Print, under the "Orientation" section, about halfway down, is a drop-down menu. Choose "Preview" in there. After that, use the Scaling options to get it to print the size you want." I tried that but it doesn't change the size of the printed image. I also tried fiddling with the image size on the Tools menu but that didn't help. It seems like the only way to shrink the image on the paper is to change to a smaller paper size, which is a workaround. Are these bands being caused by the expansion of the image? It's being blown up about 60%.Background: Preview version 5.0.3, OS 10.6.8, printer connected directly via USB. Printer is Epson Workforce 633

I get the following error...
Preview quit unexpectedly while using the ImageCaptureCore plug-in.
when I try to open a file in Preview. Same error occurs when I simply try to open Preview directly as well. It was working fine yesterday and prior to that. Haven't added any external devices or done any updates so I am not sure what happened. I did however download a game about two days ago called F18 Carrier Landing....could this be the cause...
Also here is the info that popped up with the error....

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm sure I changed some setting somewhere, but this is a bit annoying. Before buying a song in Amazon MP3, to preview, I click the little play button - it used to play in the browser... now it plays it in iTunes. Anyone know what the issue might be? I'm forced then to remove the link it adds to my iTunes library after every preview.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSafari used to let me drag an image from a webpage to the finder and have the dragged file be saved as an actual image but now all that's saved is a webloc file. I want the image saved, not a reference to the image's URL - do I now have to always use "save as" to save it?
I can understand Safari creating a webloc file if I dragged the site icon from the location bar to the finder, but to make the default behavior for dragging things that are parts of a page (not the page itself) as webloc files seems like a HUGE step backwards for usability.
Does anyone know if there's, say, a key to hold when dragging to avoid saving a webloc file or a defaults command or something to make Safari revert back to sane draging behavior?

One software says I cannot upload an image because the image or the container folder does not have permission. Indeed there is one "unknown" in permissions, that I cannot get to a read write no matter how hard I try -- both on the folder, the desktop, and the file (this is all on my laptop) I've done a repair permission.

When a user copies an image from a browser into PowerPoint 2011 he gets text of a link back to the image, not the image itself. But if he copies from a browser into Word he gets the image, and can then copy the image from Word to PowerPoint. Same results with both Firefox and Safari. Behavior is new so I assume it relates to recent software updates but user does not recall accepting any.

Whats up. I have a picture which someone has edited to make funny. The edited picture shows up in Preview the application with a text box saying something. But in Finder's preview I see the raw picture. Whats going on there and how do i see the full picture the way Finder's Preview sees it.
Yes it's a picture a lady friend sent me
I have my PowerBook G4 connected to a Hitachi video projector, using a DVI to VGA adapter.
The problem is that the only projected image I can see is that of my Desktop image. It doesn't display the Dock, menus or any windows.
What settings do I need to change?
I recently right clicked a picture to set it as my desktop picture but didn't have the foresight to save the picture in case I wanted to change it later. I still have the picture up but I cannot find where the picture is stored so I can save it for later. I checked HD/Library/desktop pictures but no luck. Does anyone know where these pictures are saved?
View 4 Replies View RelatedA few minutes ago I imported all my settings from my imac onto my macbook using the migration assistant, but now some of my windows in things like Safari and iTunes are too big for the screen, and the resize thing in the bottom right corner is too far down to reach it (not on the screen at all) ... And some of my iTunes Buttons are too far down to reach, anyone know of a way to fix this? its driving me insans!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just deleted Windows Partition 30g on my Macbook.
If I resize the MAC one to fill that 30gig back up will I need to backup? I know I know you should always back up but does it intentionally remove data? Or is it straight forward?
Just asking before I do this in Utility.
Basic question, had a photo sent to me that I wanted to make a hard copy of but when I clicked on print only the top of one person's head appeared on the hard copy, I tried down sizing but all that happened was I got a smaller picture of the same person's head. Not sure what program I should use or exactly what I need to do to get a correct sized print.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCan this be done? I have a lot of pictures in iPhoto 08 that I want to reduce in size to 800x600 to fit on a SD card. I can resize them one at a time, but does anyone know of a way to resize many pictures at once? It would sure be a timesaver for me.
I am trying to get rid of a dock annoyance:
1. Put your dock on the bottom of the desktop, in auto-hide mode.
2. Open an app, say Safari.
3. Resize the window in order to get to the bottom of the screen.
4. Hide it (cmd H).
5. Restore it (alt tab).
6. Now the window has been resized on its bottom border by a few pixels (because of the dock position).
How do I avoid that ? I'd like to use all my pixels.
I participate in several forums where I often post pictures of things. But the photos have to normally be less than 100KB. I don't have any purchased photo editing software yet for my Mac, is there something in iPhoto or somewhere else that would allow me to resize a photo for posting? If there's nothing on my machine that will do it, does Aperture have such a function?
