OS X :: Preference Sync Client Unexpectedly Quits Every Hour?
Dec 1, 2007
After upgrading my MacBook Pro to Leopard I get an alert every single hour that says 'Preference Sync Client' has unexpectedly quit. Searching around Google and the Apple site I can find absolutely no reference for this application/service. I'm assuming it must be an Apple file ... I am wondering if I just need to track down a copy of it and replace mine -- is that safe?
File is located here:/System/Library/CoreServices/PreferenceSyncClient.app/Contents/MacOS/PreferenceSyncClient
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Any ideas of where to start looking to solve this problem?
Have re-installed 10.6 and migrated stuff from a backup made on a external drive - any ideas what this messahe means? keep getting it pop up every hour!
I am running iTunes 10.6 on my iMac with OS X Lion. iTunes has worked flawlessly for years. Then yesterday it refused to sync either my iPod Nano or iPod Classic. It quits unexpectedly if you push the "sync" button. I was going to uninstall and reinstall iTunes, but I can't figure out how to uninstall. How to stop this crashing issue?
i'm using an ibook G3 . i bought and installed tiger 10.4.11. this ibook had to have additional RAM to run the 10.4. i installed a 512mb to compliment the on board 256mb RAM. when online a dark screen drops and prompts me to restart by holding down power button till it shuts off. then hit power again to turn back on. when i turn back on it drop a window "mac os x quit... do i want to report" i click report and the window disappears, and use firefox to log back on. i tried safari , but have problems with it, firefox gets online and stays online. it will restore my session , but i lose the work. i used disk utility, both drives scanned ok. permissions as well. i've downloaded yahoo messenger 3.0 , and installed macally icecam since the 10.4 upgrade.
For the past few days, whenever I try to open itunes, a dialogue box pops up and says, "The application iTunes quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple."
I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it using a new dmg, but it still says this. I also tried uninstalling Flip4Mac and taking out the plug-ins from users/*user*/library/itunes/itunes plug-ins.
apologies if this has been answered else-where but Ive looked and found no solutions. My problem is that I cannot access network preferences. I can access system preferences and turn my airport on/off via the toolbar, but I cannot actually open the network preferences without system preferences unexpectedly quitting. I have to access my universities VPN to read an e-book for an exam, so this is quite frustrating right now,
It happened 3 times today and at most 20 times within the last 3 months. When using Quick Look to view movie files, the movie freezes and the Finder restarts. Kinda annoying. No error message shows up after the restart.
When I try to launch iChat, the icon bounces once, then I am informed that "The application iChat quit unexpectedly." Clicking the "Relaunch" button twice gives me the option to "Reset and relaunch," but that does not help either.
iChat runs fine within another user account on the same machine.
I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8 on a 15" MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
I installed parallels 3.0 on my macbook. after install i double-click the app, then it says parallels "unexpectedly quit". I try to relaunch, and change settings and relaunch. Nothing seems to work.
i have skype 2.8 beta installed. but my problem started from the previous version.
i seem to be able to use skype fine for audio and video calls, but for text chats it quits unexpectedly. this becomes specifically annoying when i'm in the middle of a conversation with someone and then one of my contacts attempts to send me a chat text message so it basically makes the whole app quit and interrupts my call
you said that you 'cracked' the reason behind this,
This has happened to my laptop once before and I had to replace my hard drive. First of all I'm running Tiger 10.4.11 with Safari 4.1.3. Basically I'll just be online, using Safari and suddenly it "quits unexpectedly." There's no one thing that I do that makes this happen either. The same thing was happening a while back and it began happening more an more frequently until my computer wasn't running and I had to replace my hard drive. Now its happening again!

I am running 10.7.3 on two different machines. Some time ago Mail started quitting unexpectedly at least once a day on both machines. I have rebuilt the directories but this has not improved the behavior.
Info:24 inch intel iMac, 15 inch intel unibody Macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.7)
I upgraded to OSX Lion and then installed all software upgrades. Though my SAFARI works when i browse normal stuff, it crashes when i try to connect to my work remotely. I never had this problem previously before OS upgrade. This what I see the moment SAFARI quits.

I get on the Internet a lot, and sometimes when I'm on YouTube, Twitter, or Facebook Safari will just quit itself unexpectedly. I'll relaunch it and sometimes it's fine and sometimes I'll have to quit it again and relaunch it again. What does this mean?
When I try to open mail, it opens for a couple of seconds, then quits with message "Mail quit unexpectedly." When I click reopen button, the same thing happens again. I've tried a hard restart and that didn't work.Â
I have a Macbook, OSX version 10.9.5. Proc 2.4 GHz Intel core duo. 4 gb 1067 Dor 3.
and my time/battery life/and spotlight disappeared. It happened when I installed McAffee for Mac provided by my school ITS. As soon as it finished installing about 3 popups come up saying something about fonts. I am new to the whole mac thing but this is really aggravating.
just checking to see if everyone else is having the same problem with the new Skype 2.7. And to let you know that I have just gone back to Skype 2.6 and this still works fine.
Basically, every time I tried to call or chat to anyone, Skype 2.7 would unexpectedly quit. I found a link to download the previous version. [URL]
Has anyone experienced iChat quitting unexpectedly?
I use iChat primarily to video chat with my girlfriend who's currently away for nursing school and prior to upgrading to SL, it worked fine. I don't know if upgrading had to do anything with it, but it's really become more prominent after the upgrade. Before posting this thread, it quit 4 times while using the video chat.
I would post the error details to see if anyone can decipher something out of it, but I don't want to unless it's needed.
But yeah, has anyone experienced it and if you have, would you happen to know a fix or if a fix is on the way from Apple?
I have an issue with Safari. It quits automatically on some web sites such as Facebook for instance or more recently when I consult my mailbox. Sometimes, on some web sites, it works and on another it quits.
I have a Macbook pro with Imovie 08 I have been using it successfully until tonight. I have a project i need to do and anytime i click on the music icon or try to open any music it quits unexpectedly. Origninally it was letting me open the music and play it and would only quit when i tried to drag the clip over. I somehow accidently changed the view to the album covers and now it wont even open. Any ideas how to fix this so i can add music to my project.?
