View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to play a game on my early 2011 macbook pro with 8 gb of ram and I have an application that tells me how much ram i have avaliable, which is 4 gb, and when i play GTA IV it defaults one gb of ram to it, but how do I make it default two gb of ram so that the game will run smoother?

I opened a PDF to crop some parts of the file and there are two big issues:
1. I cannot crop multiple pages anymore. There just isn't that option in Inspector or anywhere else. I can only crop one page at a time.
2. Not only can I not crop more than one page at a time, but cropping doesn't actually delete the date. I can go to "View | PDF Display | Crop Box" and see what I just cropped!
How to setup more than one dictionary application at once. Currently only English available & would like to use Spanish & French as well.

When I click on the red cross button of Safari to stop it, the window vanishes. But the application remains in memory, so when I click again Safari shows up immediately. This is the normal behavior, iPhoto doesn't. I mean the lightening dot under the icon in the dock disappears. So is there a way to have iPhoto behave like Safari? I upgraded memory of my MBP and there is space enough to keep iPhoto and others in memory.

I had Yahoo Widgets on my desktop. It was a little separate dock from the main dock and when I clicked on the visible part a tray would slide out with all the little widgets. Unfortunately I clicked "close" and the little dock disappeared. The application was still there in Applications but when I clicked on it, the little dock did not appear.
So I downloaded Yahoo Widgets again - it was called "Gallery" but even though an application called "Yahoo Widgets" appears in the Applications list, when I click on it, nothing happens. Unfortunately, Yahoo is ending support for this Widget Engine and I think the download has been deleted from their site. So I am thinking of restoring the widget from a backup that I made of the Mac HD but even though I have the hard disk attached to my computer.
I don't know how to find and restore the files for this application to make the little separate Yahoo Widget dashboard or dock appear on my desktop again. I have checked start "Yahoo Widgets" in System preferences under user and starting items. I really don't know what to do after this step but would really like to have this Yahoo widget dock again on my desktop because it was very useful.

Not sure what my wife did but I have a copy bar that states Downloading untitled download to downloads. There is a bar indicating something is happening. There is an x next to it to stop it but it will not stop. I tried to shut down my computer but it will not let me as there is something running. Is there a way to force quit like in windows with control alt delete?

How do I get latest Mail application to work on OS 10.6.8?
View 7 Replies View RelatedTried to turn off computer and it kept prompting me to force quite various applications. I have since restarted the computer but now am getting this error when trying to open Finder. I have looked through several discussions and unfortunately am not an apple expert so much of what I am reading is foreign to me.I have opened the Terminal and entered a prompt that made all of my desktop docs and finder visable, but as soon as I closed out the Terminal it all disappeared again. Can anyone point me in the right direction - step by step - to get Finder back up and running. To my knowledge all other applications seem to be working as normal.FYI I do have a few extermal items attached to the Mac. (1) extermanl hard drive for the Time Machine, and USB drive.

Let's have a list of applications that currently don't work under Snow Leopard 10A432.
CandyBar 3.1.2 - Unstable, becomes unresponsive after some time. Cannot scroll through installed icons.
Glims - Installs, but doesn't show up in Safari preferences.
Inquisitor - Installs, but doesn't show up in Safari preferences.
DNS-323 NAS Samba access is also broken in Snow Leopard. I can confirm this.
I plan to do a clean install for SL, and was wondering if I could simply drag my applications onto a flash drive or DVD and then retrieve them once in SL. For example could I just drag the iWork and MS Office 2008 folders onto a flash drive or DVD, do the clean install, then drag them back into my Application folder?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed SL on my iMac last week and changed the icon for the applications folder on my dock - no problem. Did the same for my Macbook last night and now the applications folder on both docks keeps disappearing. I use Mobile Me to sync the docks. I've dragged the folder from Finder into the dock and it stays briefly and then disappears.

After updating to 10.6.1 snow leopard, I noticed a weird bug: when I first open the applications folder after logging in, the applications all have the "no icon" icon, the icon you get when the application doesn't have an icon. Slowly, the icons start to show up. It appears as if it isn't caching them. Is that possible? Is this a known issue that apple is fixing, or is something wrong here? I have heard from another person who is having this issue as well. If it matters, I use list view. [URL]

Since upgrading to 10.6.1 I've found that every time i wake my MB from sleep, applications keep quitting left and right, and I get these "application quit unexpectedly" messages. It's happened with Entourage, Safari, iTunes, Dashboard. It's getting pretty annoying. I've tried resetting the PRAM but that didn't help.
Does anybody have a clue what to do?!
My password still works for other application. However, mobileme no longer accepts it and no, I have not changed it nor mistyped it.

This is the first time i reinstalled(clean install) my snow leopard on my MBP. All went fine but then i inserted the disc for bundled application (which contains the ilife apps) but it keeps failing.
It says that "the installation failed. the installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. contact the software manufacturer for assistance".
I've also done my research on this matter. I've gone thru a few steps i tried as below without success:
1)normal install - fail
2)repair permission - fail
3)install in safe mode - fail
4) install using another admin acc - fail
5) made an image out of the disc and install - fail
6) used a similar disc(my dad's since we have identical version) - fai
7)updated my system and install - fail
8) reinstall the mac - fail
i cant think of any other solution as im a bit noob when it comes to mac. is there any other things i could try before taking it Apple?

I'm looking for a system that can track about 50 MBP's providing both remote wipe as part of an overall security protocol, and also remote screen/desktop for admin purposes. I looked at preyproject.com but it looks like they only do remote wiping/tracking. that I don't want something locked to a single user, it should be centrally managed.

do i need to use onyx at all ?
if i do how often?
I just downloaded oynx for tiger version 10.4.11 last night and ran it. seems everything is good on my g4 powerbook titanium 400mhz/512 but my question is how often should oynx be ran on this machine? im still kinda used to windows where you had to run programs like oynx or the microsoft built in crap at least every week to 2 weeks to keep the computer usable. should oynx be run that often or once a month?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe reason I'm asking this is simple: Since I installed OSX it started up so damn fast. Recently a month after (I guess monthly scripts were executed) my start up became slower. I enter my password, after a few seconds I see background, then top apple bar, a few seconds later dock and then all the apps start to load in the top right corner. Why is this happening?
