OS X :: OnyX Made Extra Space In Dock - Can't Get It To Go Away
Sep 7, 2010There is now extra space between by the trash can and by the separator bar thing. There doesn't seem to be a way to undo this in OnyX?

May 23, 2010All of the changes that I make to my dock (e.g. adding new programs/icons, hiding and magnifying) all revert back after I reset, log off or shut down my system. Can anyone help with advice on how to keep my changes from reverting back?

However, I'm going to configure my Mac Pro with an SSD as the boot disk, and plan to move my home directory off to the non-boot disk. With FileVault enabled, this raises a couple concerns for the SSD Boot disk.

Jun 15, 2010Can I delete the content inside my downloads folder? It's full of music and some movies. If I delete the items from this folder will it delete them from iTunes and wherever else they may be?

Mar 4, 2009I eventually opted to buy a new Mac Pro. I would like to install a 5th hard disk into it for windows. I assume this should be much easier than with the old model as I understand the optical drives are now SATA, so routing the cable shouldn't be difficult.
What I would like to know is what kind of brackets would be required to fix a 3.5" HD into a space normally used for a 5.25" optical disk space.
Applications :: Candybar Made My Dock Disappear - Restore Changes?
Dec 28, 2010I was using candybar to edit some icons. Then while it was restarting the dock the application, i think, crashed. After that my dock was no more I have tried making another login but still the dock is missing I dont believe that anything got deleted idk. Also I opened candybar again and I pressed the button to make it restore all the changes is made. It completed the restore but my dock was still missing.

However, I'd like to temporarily use the remaining space on the drive as extra storage, since my other hard drive just died. Is there any way to do this without erasing everything that I've backed up with Time Machine already?

Sep 17, 2010My iMac is currently using 192GB of the 1TB drive. I currently have a 250GB drive I'm using as a backup. My Time machine backups are starting to fail as it's telling me I only have about 60GB free, but it needs 85GB to do the backup. Any idea why it needs all the extra space?
Also, I know TM keeps several copies of the files based on the date - is there a way to purge older files (e.g. delete anything > 1 month old)?
I'm going to eventually get a larger drive for backups, but thought I had plenty of time since I'm only at 75% capacity on the backup drive

Jun 21, 2014I'm basically trying to make a "save as" version of a project so I can change what I have without risk of losing everything I've done. But every time I save a new version of the project (and even rename it, store it on another drive, etc.), the changes I make to the new version are also made to the original.I'm also not getting the popup "duplicate project" window (which should give me a choice of where and how to save the project) I'm supposed to get when I click on "Duplicate Project." How can I simply save a fixed version of my project?

Mar 28, 2012I have a Macbook Pro core 2 duo era 2007, OS 10.6.8, with an interesting problem I've not encountered in reading other issues. Here's the system profile, to get that out of the way: [code] Enabled Other than the faulty video card that seems standard for this run of the Pro, I have never had an issue. I have just replaced the battery from the original battery that came with the computer. It was useless to the extent of the word, but my budget did not allow me to purchase a new battery until recently. The battery info only stated "Replace Now" and the LED meter no longer functioned. The battery held no charge, and the computer only ran off of wall power. Up until a few days before I replaced the battery, this provided no trouble. However, it began one day to startup extremely slowly (5 minutes or more on the Apple logo startup screen, and then more time to load dock/top screen toolbar/etc. It also failed to recognize the external HD I frequently use with this computer. My theory was that it was simply underpowered on account of the failed battery, and the internal HD or the CPU was just not able to run properly. I finally put a new battery in hoping that it would fix the issue, but no avail. My startup time seems slightly less, but it seems as if the computer has not loaded interface protocols, as the computer is unresponsive to attempts to open the dock or a finder window, or even hover over battery or volume icons. After 5-10 minutes it finally kicks in and I can use my computer without problem, with the exception of the external HD, which will still not load.I have run disk utility, verified my HD, no errors reported. I have the activity monitor up which shows a pretty minimal load on the CPU and disk usage. Nothing I can think of would explain the problem my computer has suddenly adopted.

Jun 22, 2010I just downloaded oynx for tiger version 10.4.11 last night and ran it. seems everything is good on my g4 powerbook titanium 400mhz/512 but my question is how often should oynx be ran on this machine? im still kinda used to windows where you had to run programs like oynx or the microsoft built in crap at least every week to 2 weeks to keep the computer usable. should oynx be run that often or once a month?
