OS X Mavericks :: Error / Item Is Temporarily Unavailable

Dec 10, 2014

I just bought a used macbook pro 2010 from Craigslist. Whenever I start the laptop, it keeps taking me to the OS X utilities.

When I try to "Reinstall OS X", it asks me to Install OS X Mavericks. After putting in my apple login, it says "item is temporarily unavailable".

How do I install OS X Mavericks or update to Yosemite?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Upgrading From 10.6.5 To Mountain Lion?

Jun 28, 2012

I'm running 10.6.5 on my Mid 2010 15" MBP. I was also a MobileMe user.

Now I'm thinking about upgrading to Mountain Lion upon it's release, and have questions to help me decide if I want to use iCloud or not.

1) I have zero interest in Lion and want to skip it, going directly to Mountain Lion. Can this be done?

2) If I choose to use iCloud, during setup, one is given a list of checkboxes for the items they want to sync. One checkbox is labeled "documents & data".

Once this box is checked and a sycn is executed, what specific files are uploaded from my MacBook Pro?

Do I have control over what goes up into iCloud? Initially my iCloud usage would be mostly data files, I would want to choose which files go to the cloud and which files remain on my hard drive. Is this possible?

The amount of control over what goes into the cloud is my main concern. If I have total control, then iCloud will be great. If not then I will use another solution.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Possible To Update To Mountain Lion On 2007 IMac?

Jun 21, 2012

I currently have Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I got my imac in December 2007 from an Apple Store, but I can't seem to find anything that specifically says it is 'an early 2007' or 'late 2007' model. How do I know this? I have read that the 2007 model must be a late model. I also have 4 GB of memory, and it is an Intel core 2 duo. What I fit other qualifications after the answer to the 2007 model question is answered? Also, can I go straight from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion?

OS X :: Unable To Download From Ftp / Can't Connect To Host Or Resource Unavailable

Feb 11, 2010

I'm trying to download a WMA file from a server. I can connect to the server, the passwords work okay and I can see the file, but when I try to download I get one of two messages, either 'can't connect to host' or 'resource unavailable'.

I'm using an iMac 10.4.11 and I believe I have my firewall set correctly. I've also tried to download via an ftp manager (actually I've tried about 3) with the same results. Can anyone help with some advice? I've recently returned to mac after using a pc for years and I'm not the most technical person. The server host doesn't think there are problems their end.
