I recently upgrade my mac to Mavericks, but I found that the tags tranform into a tiny dot on the row instead a full row color. Can I make the tags in the old way???

I recently ran into a big problem where I had to completely erase every ID3 tag in my library to restore aobut 5% of my library (confusing, I know). This was no big deal because my iTunes XML file contained all song information.
Everytime I click a song to play it, my custom iTunes song tags for that song are replaced with the "updated" ID3 tags. I am losing all of my song information each and every time I play a different song in iTunes.
I've already tried deleting all songs in my library and re-importing using my backed-up XML file, but to no avail. The songs are imported with their correct custom tags, but they change when I go to play the song.
Does editing tags in itunes edit the tags of the actual file.

As powerful as this SEARCH facility is, recently I wanted to search for a file that I knew had a RED tag assigned to it.
I couldnt find how to do that, it sounds so simple, but, as far as I can see, it cannot be done !!!
I would have thought that it should be easy to do, it is quite an important and useful thing to do, to be able to add coloured TAGS to files, so why can't I search for them, by colour ?

For a couple of weeks now, when I click on any of my tags, nothing shows up; but my files seem to still have their tag when I go to "my documents". It is the same thing when I click on "all my files": the window is empty.

I am a Mac user under the latest software.
We are using via the google cloud word documents that we can share with PC users.
I marked on my mac in the cloud the tags to different documents. I see them visible next to the file once in a time in the color that i used. If i look under icon tags on my toolbar i see the color label active.
All my other users work on windows, and they do not see my tags. Is there a way we can make that happens for everybody and that the tags stays next to the document file.
I just realized that I have never seen an option to organize mail in the Mail app on my Macbook. Is there a way to do this that I am not seeing or is this another feature that Apple has to implement? It seems strange to add the tag feature to documents on your mac but not to integrate that with your email.

I have a simple sequence where a I some actors on a green screen keyed. They are on top of another video clip that has motion with the camera (it pulls back).
I transformed the actors to be small and I animate them as the camera pulls back to show them getting smaller and movie up and to the right a bit (proper perspective for the camera move).
The camera moves eases out and then at the end, it eases in, so the animation I have is off in the beginning and in.
I checked out an online article about video animation in FCP X and I see a picture of Ease In/ Out when you right click a key frame in the timeline with Video Animation show.
When I right-click on a key frame, the only option I see is Delete Key Frame.
I was watching a movie today, and noticed a dot on the screen. I scrubbed it hardcore, and it didn't go away. I freaked out because it might be a stuck pixel. After close observation, there are tiny extensions (probably its feet) around the 1-2 pixel size bug. I've taken a screen capture, but the bug is not displayed on it. Is it actually a bug? Should I take the glass off and exterminate the thing?

I have the "Energy Saver" option on default and the system turns the hard drives off when they're not being used. Everything is working good with this drive except one thing: When the system turns the Samsung to sleep, there's a tiny beep/sound, like coming from the motherboard or something. So I was wondering:
1. Should there be a beep on sleep?
2. How do I turn this annoying beep off?
I can't see the tiny font is my sms text messages. Before I go back to Blackberry, enlarge the size of the font?

has anyone had tiny cracks in the metal of the unibodies? I have a macbook pro with an invisible shield on it and I have noticed what looks to be a tiny crack about a cm in length. When I rub back and forth on the invisible shield it goes away as is the chemical used to hold on the shield fills it in?

I am thinking I can turn off, unplug, spray a mild cleaner on a soft cloth and clean it up, but I cannot find a single source anywhere on the web that confirms this is ok. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just noticed two small marks in the lower right-hand corner of my iMac's screen: a tiny horizontal line to the right of a dot. I can see them when I restart the computer, but not when the wallpaper is on the screen. Clear Screen won't remove them, but they don't seem to be scratches either, partly because I can't feel them. Do you think they're dust specks or something like them tat somehow got behind the screen? I hope there's a safe way to remove them because I hate to see them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe display on the Mac computer at my work has been changed so that all the icons are very tiny, the fonts are very large, and when I move the mouse, the entire screen moves so that most of the time a part of the screen is hidden and I have to jiggle the mouse around to read everything - I'm not scrolling, it just automatically does it without me clicking. I am not really familiar with Macs but I do know how to get to system preferences, and I can't think what option might make the screen do that. It really makes the computer harder to use - does anyone know what it is? I also didn't see where I could make the icons bigger or smaller, it doesn't seem like the Desktop/Display really does it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I was in the Apple Store again yesterday and whilst looking around the different versions of the notebooks it suddenly struck me that, with all things considered, the 13" Macbook Pro isn't really a 'Pro'. It doesn't look or feel very Pro-like especially when you consider the lower spec, tiny screen size, and larger bezel. It really strikes home when you see all the 13", 15", and 17" laid out side-by-side on display. I really think by upgrading the 13" name to 'Macbook Pro' Apple are doing a grave injustice to all the customers who could afford and purchased the real Pros'.
View 24 Replies View RelatedA coworker in the office often sends me images for ads and jpgs with apple mail that come from her come through much smaller than they were sent to her, and they come in the body of the email instead of as an attachment. I've watched her do it and she is attaching correctly. PDFs come through just fine. Even when she just forwards an email with a jpg, it still comes through small and in the body of the email. Is there something in the preferences that needs to be changed? Any idea what might be happening. I use gmail myself so I'm not sure what to tinker with.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy desktop icon size CONTINUALLY defaults to a very tiny size. I know where to change the size > click on desktop > show view options > adjust icon size; however, inevitably as soon as I close it out, it defaults back to a very tiny size..I mean VERY tiny. So I have to continually do the above procedure to increase the size again. Doesn't look like there is a way to LOCK that desktop icon size.

Trying to close full screen but only works using command control f to close and not the escape key that i like using, every time i press it it make a sound and the pointer disappears and reappears.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running OS X 10.9.3 and now that Time Machine supports it, I have two external drives set up for Time Machine backups. One (the one I've been using all along) is 750GB and has not very much space left. The second, which I recently installed, is 1TB and has approx 625 GB of space left. The reason I installed the second drive is because my first was running out of space and I would regularly get the message saying that the drive is full and older backups were getting deleted. So I'm curious, why isn't Time Machine using the space on my newly installed, second, Time Machine drive? Why is it still clearing out old backups on my original drive? Is there any way I can stop this? Or are the old backups going to continue to get deleted from my original drive until some sort of parity is achieved between the backups on the two drives?

I just noticed them today. You can't feel them unless you run a bare nail across them. They're along the black plastic portion of the 15" Macbook pro (late 2008 model) at the base of the screen. The computer is less than a year old and I rarely ever actually move the notebook. It spends most of its time on a stand at a desk in my office. Other than that it goes out once ever few weeks to talk to clients.
I don't know what could've caused the cracks. I'm thinking it could be heat related. I just looked into it today and noticed that my cpu was sitting around 200F. I installed a FanControl which has help pretty significantly, but it doesn't seem to ever go away.
Since I'm sure that the cracks are not caused by misuse, it leads me to believe it might be something wrong with the computer. The smooth operation of this machine is crucial so if there's something wrong, I'd like to try and catch it early.
Messages and FaceTime in OS X show full names of your contacts. I cannot find a setting to show nicknames instead. I know editing the contacts would do the job. But it would be very dodgy as nobody's first or last name is 'Mum', 'Uncle Bob' or 'Shaggy'. Is there a way to show nicknames instead of full names in Messages and FaceTime?

I had to delete a Yosemite partition I created on my mid 2012 macbook pro because the 16gig available filled up fast.
I check my HD and it was almost full to capacity, it shows I had 2.2 TB of photos and 1.5 TB of audio.
I don't know if this photos and music kept adding each time I sync my iphone or each time i log on to Facebook.
Anyway I would like to FREE UP THE SPACE but how, and would I need to have 3plus TB of external DH to do this, or what??????

I've started to use Spaces to manage multiple full screen apps and windows but I'm having problems, especially with the Finder. It seems to make arbitrary choices when opening new windows, often placing new windows floating over fullscreen without switching spaces or opening them in other spaces underneath fullscreen apps so I can't find them. Sometimes it switches to a clean Space whist the window opens in a different Space altogether. I'm running Adobe software- CC '14 applications so I don't know if this causing the problems but most of the issues seem to be with the finder and apps that actually run fullscreenBP
I'm running a MBP with an external monitor- it's a one monitor set up, not dual so it shouldn't be causing the issues I'm having. I like the idea of spaces running fullscreen apps and windows- the tech has a lot of potential but seems crude and irrational presently.
