When trying to view trailers on Apple's website, Google Chrome (Version 38.0.2125.44 beta (64-bit)) tells me I need QuickTime, despite the fact that Google Support says, "QuickTime is included on Mac computers," and QuickTime comes as part of OS X Mavericks.

I have OS 10.9.3. The past few days when I start up my computer in the morning, Apple Mail and my Chrome browser open by themselves. I do not have any startup items in my account except for Dropbox. I do not leave any apps open at shutdown. I have quit those apps before I shut down at night. I've looked through some of the support discussions and none of the solutions apply since these apps are not in my startup items and I don't leave them open at shutdown. I can't find a reason for this.

I have trying to watch the tutorials provided on the Apple site and have had no luck. The Quicktime Logo as well as a "?" appears.
Does anyone know what I need to do to view these?
Quick Time used to work fine, but now when I click on Watch Trailer in Apple Trailers, the link opens ok, but when Quick Time opens, it gives an error that says "A necessary data reference could not be resolved". When I click on Ok, the window closes.
Any ideas what to do? I did recently upgrade my hdd and used Time Machine to restore my data/programs.

Earlier tonight I opened iCal, only to find that none of my calendars were there. it was completely empty. However, when I changed the view from "Week" to "Month" all of my events were listed (in the proper color) on the appropriate day, but I still had no list of calendars on the left. Subsequent changes between "Day" "Week" and "Month" view continued to display the events properly, but nothing showed up in the calendar menu on the left.
I repaired permissions same thing happened.I trashed com.apple.ical pref (forgot the exact filename)�same behavior. I use .mac to sync between computers, and I use Missing Sync to sync to a Palm T|X.
I just upgraded to MacOSx 10.9.3 (Mavericks) from Mountain Lion. Apple Mail can no longer create a reminder by dragging an email into the reminders icon on the bottom app bar. This was a great function. Was it discontinued in Mavericks, or is this a flaw that I can fix by changing a setting somehow?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with Browsers. I rotate between Safari, Aurora, and Chrome. But all three of them eventually choke of resources and hog the cpu. Sometimes quitting the broswer works but most of the time, I reboot of OS X is needed to clean up the resource logjam.My practice of using a lot of windows and tabs is at least part of it. But if varys on different days. Thist week began a new bothersome and worrisome behavior that has malware fingerprints. Sometimes when I click on a link on a window that is "normal" size (say 60% height and 60% width of screen), a full screen pops up over everything and something I didn't ask for shows up. There are several cases of what shows up.
1. Some times it is a window that advises me to clean up my Mac offering a tool to do that (I've seen this offer all the time but I cannot recall which one it is but it is very common--I think the thing that was offered was Mac Keeper about which I have heard bad things so I avoid it. It appears to have a foot hold on my system). clock the red close button on the window (or Cmd-W) and it disappears and the window it came from reappears and is functional. I can no click the same link I had used before and now it works. Sometimes,but not always, later windows as I navigate do the same thing.
2. Today, when I went to URL.../support and clicked on discussions, a full scren window popped up with the URL.....or some other thing - I've only captured the two URLs. If I close that popped up window

I'm running Safari 5.02 on a 15" Macbook Pro running 10.6.6. ALL TOO OFTEN I will attempt to access a page [URL] and it will not load. All I get is an eternal spinning wheel. I have to launch Chrome or Firefox to achieve success and they load the page without any difficulty. Since i don't like spoiling too much of a movie i hardly ever watch trailers but today i happened to stumble upon the "Green Lantern" one and decided to check it out.
Trouble is once i tried to open up the 720p or 1080p versions an error message popped up saying it can't find the server?
Using certificates from ORC in Mavericks or iOS 7, I cannot read my sent messages. In previous versions of Mail, a copy was saved encrypted with my private key as well as the recipient's public, so that I could view and search older sent messages. After updating to some newer certificates, this feature seems to no longer work.
Recipients have no trouble reading the message, and as a workaround, I can BCC a copy to myself at a different account (which uses different S/MIME encryption and identity certificates from the sending account).
I have tried removing the older certificates and verifying the certificate preferences in the Keychain, all to no avail...

Disk Utility shows it in grey and "not mounted". How to access the files? Does using time machine mean that that partition is no longer able to be used as it used to be?

I want to view the Network Connection Log on my MacBook. I know the Console.app is the app to view the system log but where is exactly showing when I connect to the network by using the Wi-Fi networking or the Ethernet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes, it's not just folders, it's files too. Sometimes in non-mac sources, like my SMART TV, I see files named .filename.mp4 along with filename.mp4. And these fraudulent files are really bothering. And the worst part, I can't see them in Finder. remove the .file.mp4.
I used the term 'filename.mp4' to represent an MP4 video file. But the files that have a . before them need to be deleted.
I'm able to open the app but it won't display any of the actual details of my emails. When I try to open them standalone the app crashes too. Tried googling for fixes, most of them include Terminal which seemingly won't open anymore either.
Must note that I haven't deleted anything or downloaded anything untoward since this error started occurring.
