My university wants us all to use RTF files. As I am sure you all know text edit sucks. But it automatically opens all my RTFs.I have to manually get word to open them which is a pain in the ass.How can I fix this so that all RTF's are automatically opened by WORD?I am still on the old version of word because I have to use ENDNOTE - which has no support for Word 2011 right now. I have a copy of 2011 sitting on my desk and I am itching to use it, but I will loose 200+ citations if I do.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to Mac and I was wondering how I could create a folder within my documents on the mac os.
I recently changed from Windows to Mac and Its a bit of a learning curve.
I really liked the fact that I could store folders within my documents on Windows
Ex. I could open my documents, and open my school folder which had all of my school info.
How can i do this on Mac ?
I just upgraded my laptop to Lion. Now I can't access any of my Word Documents. I 'got' around that by opening them up in 'pages'. HOWEVER, I can't access my emergency records organizer (where I keep all my bank account info, IDs and passwords, etc.) Is there a new application in Lion that allows me to to store this data? I'm not real happy with Lion right now, because half of my life/documennts were Word documents that can no longer be opened-unless I want to open EVERY last one of no fewer than 1,000 Word docs in 'pages.' Not only did I pay to upgrade to Lion, but I'll have to pay for another version of Word. Macintosh is on my___list right now.

Every time I sign into MSN or start a conversation with someone, MSN creates a file in my doc's. Is there any real reason for this and is there a way to stop it? I find it incredibly annoying as it changes the order of my folders so I forever clicking the wrong one. I have tried hiding it, but it just created another folder.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to take multiple documents and create one PDF file. Like scanning multiple pages of something and instead of having each page be a file, creating one file. In Preview, you can open multiple PDFs in the same window, but if you print (or Save to PDF from the print dialogue, it will only do each document as is. I would like to avoid loading multiple pages into Word and then exporting to PDF and I would also like to avoid having to buy Acrobat. Is this PDF function limited in OS X or am I missing something?

I have a Mac with OS (10.7.3), itunes (10.6.1). I'm trying to create a ringtone using one of my mp3s. I have seen many instructions on the internet on how to do it. The problem is I don't have the ability to create a aac version of the mp3. I have the song at 29 seconds. When I highlight the song and right-click, I don't see "create aac version". Also when I go to advance I also don't see "create aac version". How do you create ringtones in 10.6.1?

Im going to be purchasing a 13" Macbook Pro but coming from using a PC my whole life I have a few questions:
Firstly would you recommend iWork or Office? And can iWork read and edit work documents?
Secondly, If I am creating a Word document on my Mac and then send it to someone that is using Office on a PC will the formatting etc be the same? Im thinking of the scenario if I am filling out a job application form and then send it to the employer I don't want the formatting to be messed up since that would preclude me from getting an interview most likely. Also, are there any other compatibility issues I should be aware of with sending things between Mac and PC? I know if these will be problematic I can always install Windows 7 via Bootcamp, but id rather they were do-able on OSX.
I need to make same technical documents but I'd like to create a good layout for them, not a simple "blank and white" document so I'm looking for an application let us say between Ms Word and Adobe InDesign. Can anyone suggest me an application? I have tried Swift Publisher but it misses some basic features such a spell checker.
