OS X :: Mac Cannot Login (keyboard And Mouse Offline)?

Aug 6, 2010

After last OS X update, my system became unusable. It boots to the login screen, but then mouse clikcs and keyboard strokes are not being registered. The cursor is still responsive and light sensor adjusts the brightness of the screen, so the system is not hanging.

OS X :: Cache Windows AD Login Credentials Offline

Apr 15, 2009

I'm the Network Admin for my company and our Marketing Director just got a new MB Pro. I've used directory services and he can sign in and authenticate with his Windows AD credentials with no issue as well as access all resources. Problem is he travels a lot and needs to be able to login off of our internal network. Windows will cache login creds for offline logins. Is there a way to allow this in OS X also?

MacBook :: 2.4 Keyboard/Trackpad, - External Keyboard/Mouse Not Working

Nov 13, 2009

So my friend was using his MacBook and went to do something else. He came back and the screen was black, he hit space and nothing, tried the trackpad and nothing. He restarted by holding the Power button, and it go to the log-in screen, but he can't type anything, or use the trackpad. He has tired restarting several times and no luck. He also tried an external Keyboard/Mouse and that didn't work.

He did plug in a Flash drive and the light turned on, so the USB ports are at least getting power, but nothing is working.

MacBook :: How To Login If Keyboard Not Working

Oct 19, 2010

About a month ago, I accidentally spilled water all over my MacBook's keyboard, the mac was turned on, and I notices the keyboard wasn't working correctly; one time before that, I was taking a bath and I had my macbook in the bathroom for music, when I went out and tried to use it, the letter "p" on the keyboard wasn't working correctly, I just turned it off and a couple hours after it was working perfectly!

So I did the same thing this time, let it dry for some hours, and it didn't worked, then let it dry for several days and it still doesn't work! So I removed some keys and try to clean the keyboard with comp air and it didn't worked still. I want to know if there's a way i could log in to my macbook without having to type in the password, like using a remote keyboard or something, please, i love my macbook and i really need to use it for homework! (I study high school and need to record edit, etc music, videos and pics!)

OS X :: Keyboard Shortcut For Login Window??

Oct 9, 2006

Does anyone know of a keyboard shortcut to go to the Login Window (fast user switching) like the Win+L combination for Windows XP?

Or perhaps a keyboard shortcut to lock the machine, like CTRL+ALT+DEL for Windows 2000/XP?

I've been searching for what seems like hours, and I can't find anything.

Mac Pro :: Bluetooth Keyboard Not Sync - Cannot Login

I've been away for a while, and just started up my MacPro to create a DVD for my customer, and the keyboard (bluetooth) is not responsive. So, I can't log in! I don't have a USB keyboard laying around. So I can't get into the system. Does anyone know a way to get the MacPro to open the disk bay and boot off the DVD? I should then be able to tie the keyboard back to the system?

OS X :: IMac Login/Keyboard Malfunction?

Oct 6, 2009

I have a Mac OS X (silver iMac) and starting this morning it will not let me login to my account, which is the single and only account, and the admin. I shut it down last night as usual, and it did so just fine, and it boots up the same as well.

My keyboard, however, is screwing up. Buttons like the "return", "shift" and "control" apparently count as characters, and since my password is a series of dots I can't tell how it's malfunctioning. I can't login at all.

I've tried restarting the computer several times, unplugging it and replugging it, and changing which USB port the keyboard was plugged into. I've also tried typing one key over, on both sides, just to see if it would work. I have no idea what's wrong here - does my computer have some sort of virus? Or is it my keyboard? Is there any way I can reset my computer, or just manage to login? I'm really stressed out here, and willing to listen to anything.

OS X :: Using Bluetooth Keyboard At Login Screen

May 2, 2010

My MacBook Pro's keyboard just went dead after I dropped it () and now I can't log into the machine to try and salvage it. I for some reason can't get the MacBook Pro to recognize the Apple Wireless Keyboard I have. I had it paired with an iMac but I've unpaired it since and my MacBook Pro won't find it so I can use it at the login screen. I have bluetooth turned off in my account but hopefully that doesn't carry over into the login screen. Any ideas other than buying a wired USB keyboard just to log in so I can turn on bluetooth? It's an early 2006 2 GHz Core Duo MacBook Pro for what it's worth.

Mac Pro :: 2014 USB Keyboard Not Working For Login

Jun 27, 2014

I have a Mac Pro 2014 with two thunderbolt displays and an apple USB keyboard.  Whenever I boot up the computer the keyboard doesn't seem to work at first.  Often I get hung up on the log-in screen pushing keys to no effect until the bluetooth keyboard dialog comes up.  Then after that sits fruitlessly looking for a non-existent keyboard for about 30sec the USB keyboard will start to work.  In total I'd say this delays logging in by about a minute.  During this whole time the USB mouse and Wacom tablet work.  After logging in everything works fine.

Also this might be related, if the computer goes to sleep it can take several attempts to wake it up before I'll get a login screen.

MacBook :: Keyboard Not Responding So Unable To Login

Dec 22, 2009

I have a first gen 13 inch MacBook aluminum. It was dropped on the corner a few months ago but has preformed fine ever since. I have been using it up until yesterday without a problem. Although yesterday I noticed the airport wireless icon was reporting and exclamation point icon and it was having trouble finding and connecting to networks my iPhone was connecting without a problem. Today I boot up and the boot time is very slow and sometimes hangs.

It takes 10 minutes to get to the login screen and when it does I can move the mouse but the keyboard won't respond. So I can't type my password to login. The mouse moves but when I click a button nothing happens. I booted in safe mode and off the os x disk with the same issue. However I used key commands to do that and selected a boot disk using the keyboard and the mouse to do that so I know the work. Can I bypass my loginscreen somehow? I'm most concerned about my data and I plane to get a hard drive first thing tomorrow.

MacBook Pro :: Keyboard In Login Screen Not Working?

Jun 21, 2012

I just received a 13inch MBP i7. I setup a user account during the installation. Everything worked good until I logged out. Now, when in the login screen after a reboot, the keyboard does not respond (can't enter my password).

I know it is not a hardware issue as I can type fine when logging into my Guest Account.

Here is what I tried to fix this:

- reset NVRAM
- Disk Repair
- Repair Permissions

OS X :: Switched To Dvorak Keyboard But Login Window Remains QWERTY?

May 11, 2010

I have recently gone cold turkey on QWERTY in favour of the Dvorak keyboard layout, to see if it's really all that it's cracked up to be. However one thing really bugs me, and that is when entering my password in the log-in window, the keyboard remains in QWERTY mode. This is especially annoying because I have actually switched the keycaps on my keyboard to the Dvorak format, so I have to rely on my muscle memory to type my password in QWERTY when I'm logging in after a restart.

Does anyone know how to fix this so that the log-in window is in Dvorak format as well? I am the only user of this computer, so if a fix exists that applies to all users, well, that doesn't matter - as long as I can still undo it later on if I decide QWERTY is better after all. (basically, I want to make the Dvorak layout a system-level default rather than just a user-level default)

IMac (Intel) :: Unable To Login / Bluetooth Keyboard Not Working

Jun 23, 2014

My iMac recently shows a "low battery" warning on the keyboard batteries.

The iMac's hard drive had just been fixed by a shop and the OS re-installed. To my surprise I didn't need to do anything to get it to recognize both bluetooth keyboard and mouse - it just worked! Wow.

Until yesterday. I took out the keyboard batteries, charged them, and put them back in.

Now I get the login prompt where I have to enter a password. The only problem is, I can't enter a password without a keyboard! And it doesn't recognize the keyboard.

I tested the keyboard with my MacBook Pro - it works just fine. So I believe that somehow the iMac thinks it's still paired with the keyboard, while the keyboard knows nothing about this. And between those two things it doesn't work.

I restarted multiple times, and tried to start from another partition by holding down option - the problem is the iMac doesn't recognize the keyboard at startup either.

OS X :: Would Also Like To Use MAC And PC-same Keyboard / Mouse / Monitor?

Oct 23, 2009

I searched for an answer but I am quite unsure how to do this. Basically I plan to get a 24" external monitor to mainly use with my MacBook Pro. Also I would like to get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. But I would also like to use all of them with my PC if/when I decide to use it. I have used KVM Switches before but never with bluetooth. Does anyone know a good solution for this? Should I just get a wired mouse and keyboard?

Hardware :: Mac Compatible Keyboard And Mouse?

Mar 25, 2009

I'm currently in the market for a new 2.0 Mac Mini, however, I just can't decide which keyboard and mouse I should get. I don't really like the Apple keyboard and the mighty mouse is pretty bad. I am currently using a slim Kensington keyboard, which I must say is a very good keyboard. My mouse is a logitech G9 gaming mouse which I really love.

Question is will I be able to use both of them on my Mac Mini by just plugging it in to the USB ports on the back of the Mini? I really want to keep them, they are both black and I like to match my desktop. If I can't use them, is there a way to program them to work with my Mini? If there is a way to program them, how do I do it?
