On restarting my iMac I get this message "Your Mac OS X startup disk has no more space available for application memory. To avoid problems with your computer, quit any applications you are not using, Closing windows and removing files from your startup disk will also help."
I have a 1 tb drive with over 400 gigs of space and 4 gigs of ram I have no apps running the computer seems stuck This started after my mac crashed while trying to print a 17 page document
I was installing a few things on my new MacBook Pro (XCode, XQuartz, X11, and Homebrew) when I noticed some funky error message that I get whenever I open Terminal.
It says: -bash: export: `/usr/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/opt/X11/bin': not a valid identifier.
I am still getting used to my Mac after a decade of Windows, and I have no clue what this error means or how to fix it.
My emails (using the Mail applications) are not downloading from the server anymore. I get the following error message: "The message has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it".
my e-mail tries to connect but keps spinning. then error message says connection to server could be in timed out. the internet is working fine. e-mail was working fine until it just stopped.
Ok so I have an 8800 GS imac, 3.06 intel core 2, 4 gigs ram. Running snow lepord. I need to resolve an issue where I can not get into OSX. At first I got error messeges saying my external HDD could not read, now it looks like its my primary drive because when I restarted I got the progress bar under the apple logo, indicating that something is wrong with the OS. The bar when to full 100% but then I got stuck at never ending spinning wheel. I restarted and no more progress bar but still the spining wheel of death. I really dont mind refomrating its just that I had some important text documents and other files that I cant get back without recoving them some how. How to proceed? I held down cmd v or s (i forgot) on startup and got a black screen with several problem statements. One reads the system boot strapper has crashed trace BPT trap.
Ever since I installed Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro I've been getting an error message from Norton Utilities (almost) every time my computer reboots, just after I log in. The message tells me a new version of Mac OSX has been detected and I may need to update my installed Norton Utilities or Norton SystemWorks Components. consult your System Admin. However... I uninstalled Norton a while ago. I've done more than a few searches for leftover Norton files and thought I got everything. How can I get this to stop?
i had to get my screen replaced earlier this year under warranty and ever since then I have been receiving an error message on startup that pops up each time just within 5 minutes or so of logging in, and then lately my lappy has been randomly shutting down The error message states something about some extension vlabkernaladditions.kext not being found and needing to be re-installed or something. I will update this with the exact message on my next startup.Does anybody know anything about this??
On a Mac OS X 10.4.11. laptop. ISP provider is Comcast. Have successfully been sending and receiving emails at home no problem using Entourage for two years. Have now taken laptop to visit away from home and clicked into the host's house wifi system - AT&T u-vers.
Entourage will now receive but not send emails. Receive 3259 error message about timing out. However, can send fine by going to Comcast's site, therefore Comcast insists this is not their problem but an Entourage problem, probably with settings.
I've been without use of Time Machine for sometime (months) now. I've been getting the following error:
My backup drive (Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex - 320GB) was a attached to my Airport Extreme, but in desperation I moved it to being directly attached to my MBP. I've also excluded large number of files from the back up (reduced the full backup size to half the size of the backup disk). Also, I've erased and reformatted the back up disk - twice. No errors on it either.
What would be really helpful, was if there was some indication as to WHAT the problem actually is. This is a rather ambiguous error message, which does little to help a person to troubleshooot. It seems like the backup is being hung up on a file or files...but I'm just guessing.
Has anybody out there run into this? If so, what was your solution?
Each time I start iPhoto I get a message that says: "A photo has been found in the iPhoto Library that was not imported. Import? Yes or No" Not matter if I pick yes or no, the next message says: "Photo has been placed in folder .../.../.../recovered photo_8" I now have 8 of these stupid recovered photo folders. Is there a way to make iPhoto not automatically search my computer?? I would rather drag and drop the photos that I want in there anyways.
I am migrating my mail and archive folders from Mail to iCloud. I moved 20+ folders and over 8k messages with no problem by dragging and dropping the folder from 'On my mac' section to 'iCloud' section in Mail. The last two folders were the largest with over 1.5k in each folder. Over 1200 of the messages in each went in to iCloud without a hitch. Then I got this error:
The IMAP command “APPEND” (to [mail box name]) failed with server error: Message contains NUL characters.
There are 149 messages left in one folder and 203 in another folder. Try as I might, it will not work. I tried Rebuild mailbox option in menu and exported to Mail and mbox format and then re-importing. Still does not work.
A few weeks ago my computer had lost the connection to the wireless internet. I set it up again and was able to connect to the internet, however since then I've been receiving an error message "Could not find a PPPoE Server." I went back into Preferences and unchecked the PPPoE server option but the error message still pops up.
Since upgrading to Lion, I have been having problems backing up to Time Machine using a LaCie external disk. Time Machine worked fine before the upgrade to Lion. The backup usually starts correctly, but after backing up around 1GB, I get the following error message: "The disk was not ejected properly. If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging or turning it off". The disk has over 80GB of space available.
Error message "The backup disk image could not be created." I have tried everything I have found online in the community from TM full reset to changing my computers name. Anything else I can try? I am using a Seagate external HD with a connection through my router. I spent an hour on the phone with seagate and everything is ok on the HD end. TM sees it and it is mounted but cannot go any further
Having some mail issues lately with my gmail account Imap set up. I can receive mail but when trying to send mail it pops up with the following: "Can not send message using the server [URL]" I tried deleting the gmail account on my iMac and setting it up again. in the set up It gives me two choices as an outgoing server: [URL] and just Gmail. If I choose Gmail I can send the messages, but is this secure? I've always used [URL] for outgoing without any problems.

iMAC with OSX10.9.4 ; 8GB ram ; two partitions external disk formatted MAC jurnaled ; connected via Fire Wire or USB2 .
During Backup the sistem get stack and display into the "details window" Time machine was unable to complete the backup because unable to complete the backup folder.
This problem happens with USB and Fire Wire. The file backups.backupdb is excluded from virus scanning.
Also happens time to time that (without doing things) both the partitions of the external disk disappaire from the desk-top and a message "the disk must be ejected properly" is displayed.
This two problems are independent une to the other. I have change the backup disk but both the problems persist.

I have a macbook and trying to connect to the server at work which is a windows machine. I can connect to the wireless fine. They had said if I'm able to use wireless then I should be able to connect to the server. When I click on it, it always says There was a problem connecting to the server. The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.
After updating to Lion server, I moved my Drobo over and setup Time Machine
Many users are prompeted to reuse or create a new backup.
The problem is I log in with credentials of 'USER A', and on the dialog it lists another 'USER B', userb.sparsebundle as the file to reuse.
I recently had a iMac hard drive die, and i tired to use the time machine on the server, with 'USER A' credentials, i got 4 listings and none of them were 'USER A'
I check the drobo and 'USER A''s sparsebundle is there. I have tried changeing permissions to read the sparsebudle, but the bundle is a 250k file, not a diskimage of the files even.
How do i resolve this problem of the wrong users coming up on "reuse or create new backup"?
How do i access the lost sparsebundle that i cannot log into to get the files for the user that needs them?
I have Time Machine backing up my MacMini Snow Leopard Server to an external harddrive. When the backup runs, it never completes, but it also does not throw an error message. It just gets stuck around 300MB or so and eventually starts over. As you can see it does not seem to backup everything. I have tried using TimeTracker to see what it might be getting stuck on but I can't really make heads or tails of it. I have even removed the old backup and started a new one. It backs up once fully (I think) and then after that it just gets stuck like this.
I should mention the drive it backs up is two separate partitions SnowLeopard Server Volume and PrimeRoot Volume, both of which need to be backuped. I was thinking maybe a permissions issue? But I just don't know where to look.
My iMac does not start up as usual. I now get a ' start up disk is full. You need to make space available on your start up disk by deleting files' message. I am able to key my log on password however I just get the purple galaxy screen with no desktop.
If I try to use the keyboard I get a tone when pressing the keys.
Has worked perfectly well up until I got this dusk full message.
