OS X :: Keylogger - Monitor Detector ?

Jul 9, 2009

I have reason to believe someone may be monitoring what I do on the internet. They haven't had access to my MacBook, but may have gotten my IP address. Is it possible? Is there any way to tell if they have remotely installed a keylogger or website tracking device? Does such a thing exist?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Keylogger Elimination On It

Feb 10, 2012

I think I may have a keystroke logger on my computer.  Would a simple system reinstall take care of it, or do I need to wipe the drive an start all over?  Is there an easy way to detect for sure if I have one?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Best Malware Detector For Mac?

May 2, 2012

I'm interested in providing additional protection for my iMac by installing an application that will detect various forms of Malware aimed at the Mac OS X system.Since Mac's are beginning to raise the interest of the hacker community, I would like to stay one step ahead of the "crowd".I keep my system up to date with the latest updates/patches and I am very careful of the web-sites that I visit. But, one can never be too careful.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), 21", i3@3.2 GHz, 16GB RAM

Applications :: Noise Detector Software For Mac?

Oct 7, 2010

I'm searching for a program which uses my MacBook microphone to detect that somebody enters my room and saves the time of this event - so that I can see afterwards e.g.: "The person came in at 10:45 pm". I don't want to spy with my iSight (the green LED can't be turned off - otherwise, a single screenshot when somebody enters the room with the exact time would be a possibility, too).

I just wanna know when somebody was there with no alarm sound and no possibility of this person to notice it. (At least not without sitting at my MacBook and looking for my running programs.) Mabye I should try to set a manual recording with a program like "Audacity" for the whole time so that I can see when coming back when the noise in the room started so that I can calculate the time myself? Could be a possibility, I'll try this ...

Software :: Monitoring Software On Wireless Network? (Keylogger Reports)

Dec 22, 2009

I currently own a Macbook and work on it up in my room with wireless. The family iMac is downstairs and is hardwired to the modem so we share the same network. I was wondering if there was any way to monitor what was happening on the downstairs computer from my room. Life would be nice if the keylogger can send me the reports. Also, free or purchased programs would be fine.

MacBook :: Can't Make Monitor On Mini Display Port Primary Monitor?

Aug 18, 2010

I have a fresh install of Windows XP, service pack 2 on a boot camp partition on my macbook (13" first gen aluminum case) and a Apple LED Cinema Display attached to the mini display port.

I can't seem to make the Cinema Display the primary display (the "Use this device as the primary monitor" checkbox is always greyed out in the Display Property Settings tab). I also can't shut the macbook lid and continue to use it closed (with kb, mouse and monitor attached) like I would when booting OSX.

Is there some other way to make the Cinema Display the primary monitor, so I can leave the macbook closed when booting into Windows?

Hardware :: Powerbook With Broken Monitor - Force Boot To External Monitor?

Jan 31, 2010

I have a G4 powerbook with an LCD that only displays the top 25% of the screen. I've been using an external monitor with it just fine. Today, I reinstalled the OS and ran into a problem. The main OSX startup menu (you know, where it asks for your location, timezone, personal info, etc) is prompting me for information, and I can't see the forms to fill them in! The external monitor defaults to "extended" as opposed to "mirrored", and the forms are embedded, meaning I can't drag them over to my external monitor. Obviously, if I can't fill out these forms and get to the desktop, the laptop is completely useless.

Does anyone know how to force the external monitor to be "mirrored" from startup? Is there a keycommand?

OS X :: Monitor Suddenly Goes Completely White / External Monitor Goes Black

Jul 30, 2005

I have been using the latest macbook pro 13.3" since April 2010. Over the last week the monitor suddenly goes completely white and the external monitor goes black. The laptop becomes unresponsive although the programmes opened continue running (e.g a skype voice call would continue without interruption although the monitor is all white).

The only solution at the moment is to press the turn off button for a few seconds then switch the laptop on again. It will then work normally until for no apparent reason this happens again.

Hardware :: Apple 2001 Studio Monitor - Fomac Monitor?

Jul 12, 2009

I have a macbook pro from 2007, and I just popped into a tagsale and picked up one 2001 Mac Studio Monitor and a 2001 Fomac Gallery monitor.. So I was hoping to use the monitors with my laptop because the small screen on this laptop is KILLING me, and i'm not yet prepared (financially) to get a powermac.. Paid $10 for both of them..

my issue right now is, the monitor's cable doesnt match the input on my compuer. I need a ACD DVI clip cable.. Now, i looked them up and the price is $100! Call me naive, but i had no clue a connector cable would ever cost that much..

So basically, I am curious if there was a different option to get this to work with my computer OR if there is a place to get a used or "extra" cable

Power Mac G5 :: Reset Monitor Resolution Supported By Monitor?

Nov 22, 2007

I have a G5 Quad with an Ati x1900 graphics card running into a 52" Samsung LCD. This was working fine through a dvi-vga adaptor until I switched the monitor resolution from 1920X1080 to 1360X768 which is not supported by the monitor .....blank screen. I plugged another 19" monitor into the other output on the card and both work fine but as soon as I remove the 19" the 52" reverts back to the unsupported mode. I have reset the pram and tried booting in safe mode but that did not help me. From bootup the 52" works fine until just before the login screen, then it switches resolution......blank screen. Would anyone know where these settings would be housed in OS 10.5.1 so I can modify (delete) them?

Information:
G5 Quad
Mac OS X (10.5.1)

i don't know what I did, but for some reason, new windows on firefox opens on my laptop monitor (instead of my 20 inch LCD, I am running dual screens).

1. I am running dual screens, but my EXTERNAL monitor is the primary one (top menu bar is on the external monitor)

2. All applications open by default on my main monitor, except for FIREFOX.

3. I have tried dragging the firefox window back to main monitor, both in spaces view as well as normal view, to no avail.

MacBook :: Using External Monitor With New MB (2.4GHz)/monitor Sleep?

Oct 16, 2008

I picked up a new MacBook yesterday and I noticed a weird issue when coming out of "monitor sleep" mode, not regular sleep mode.

When I move the mouse, the external monitor shows what you see in the picture, kinda like a TV with no signal. The MacBook screen works fine so what I just do is unplug and re-plug in the DVI plug and everything is good again.

My 24 inch Dell monitor worked fine with my M1330 and other computers so I know it's not that. Does anyone have the same issue or maybe give me some light on this?

MacBook Pro :: Detects An External Monitor But No Display On The Monitor?

Aug 5, 2009

As said, my current set up is an HDMI - DVI cable (HDMI to monitor and DVI to adapter) and my DVI - mini DisplayPort adapter, everything is connected fine but when I turn on the monitor, it says cable not found... and nothing is displayed on the screen but on the Macbook side of things, it sees the monitor is connected (I can extend the screen and leave the screen) but other than that, it appears I cannot get an image on the monitor, pressing every button on the monitor does not work either.

Any other information that may seem necessary, let me know. I tried clearing my PRAM and clearing the power and such but nothing seems to work.

IMac :: Use Dell Monitor As Primary Monitor Connected?

Oct 22, 2009

I was surprised one day to find an inch of white line running from top to bottom on my screen. Then after a week it expanded to two inches white line, then suddenly it turned all black and I can't see two inches of my screen from the right edge. I was reading some forums and found out that I can use a dell monitor as a secondary monitor, but is it possible to use the dell monitor as the primary monitor in case the black line will spread throughout the entire iMac screen? so the iMac would serve as a stand alone processor like a regular desktop?

Hardware :: 1920 X 1200 24" Monitor Vs. 1680 X 1050 22" Monitor?

Feb 25, 2009

Debating between two monitors to use as an external with my MBP. HP LP2475w & Dell 2209WA.

HP is a 24" H-IPS panel with 1920 x 1200 max resolution. Dell is a 22" e-IPS panel with 1680 x 1050 max resolution. The Dell is half the price of the HP.

My concern is the lower resolution on the Dell. What difference is there with the lower resolution of the Dell vs the HP monitor? Keeping in mind of course that the Dell is also 2" smaller than the HP. I'd be using the monitor for extended web surfing, writing for long periods in m.word, and video editing.

Hardware :: LED Monitor Instead Of LCD Monitor?

Apr 3, 2009

I thought that Apple manufacturer would start making LED monitors for all Apple's computers - not just a LED monitor for a laptop.

Many TV manufacturers are making new HDTV LEDs instead of LCDs this year.
Many stores marked down most TV LCDs and HDTV LCDs.

For HDTV issue:

How safe are the new HDTV LEDs? For example, Apple sells its LCDs that contain "Arsenic-free display glass, BFR-free, PVC-free, meets its Energy Star version 5.0, Rated EPAT Gold (?)."

Mac Pro :: Cable To Get For New LCD Monitor?

Jul 30, 2008

I just bought a new 24 inch LCD monitor. It has a VGA, a DVD-D and a HDMI Port. I have a G5 Mac with a DVI-I and an ADC port. The monitor came with a VGA cable. The sales person sold me a DVI to DVI cable (single link, 18+ 1 pin), but I get this message on the screen - "check signal cable." Is this the wrong cable? I just moved so am thinking it might be that something's loose in the tower. Perhaps there is there a better way to connect the two. When I got home I read in the manual "Mac adapter For Apple Macintosh use, a separate plug adapter is needed to change the 15 pin high density (3 row) D-sub VGA connector on the supplied cable to a 15 pin 2 row connector." but that seems weird since neither of my ports are 2 rows. perhaps I should try DVI to HDMI? I do web design and video. Also, can you get these cables at Futureshop? I am now in a rather small town and don't have a Mac store.

Mac Pro :: 3rd Or 4th Monitor Using - DisplayLink?

Jul 11, 2009

Does anyone on the forum have experience driving a 3rd or even a 4th monitor using a DisplayLink equipped USB adaptor to drive at least a 24" monitor?

Note: please do not get confused with DisplayPort. Reference to DisplayLink can be found .

I've seen people use the 7" MIMO's that is based on the DisplayLink technology, but anyone have a working knowledge of using the dongle/USB adopter to drive an extra monitor?

Going this route would let me avoid adding an extra video card to the MP.
