Anyway i have a macbook pro. I recently upgraded my router to a belkin. Ever since i upgraded sites like facebook are slow. Facebook still works but when i want to browse photos, the photos never load. It also will never let me upload pics.
It works perfectly on my pc. Also, when im on my mac and i connect to a different wireless network, it also works perfect. So it comes down to my mac and my network.
So i'm thinking of getting a Mac Pro soon but what is kind of holding me off is that Bootcamp still doesn't offer 64-Bit Windows Xp installation & drivers support. I need to use Xp from time to time for certain tasks.It's really silly if you think that one wants to take use of the Ram & CPU and it's quite disappointing Apple has made no efforts in that regard.
Is there a way to manually setup a 64-Bit Xp installation fully working?
Since the latest upgrade of 10.9.3 my and other office computers have problems with searches using spotlight and Finder search on internal, external and networked volumes. This is a big roadblock to our office workflow. Reindexing doesn't fix the issue and we can see clearly that the files we are searching for are there.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI finally upgraded from my 15" PowerBook 1.67 to the new 13" MacBook Pro 2.66. On the PowerBook I would usually run an external display using a single link DVI cable. I have read about the issues with the apple mini display adapters not working on DVI-I or non fully digital displays, but since I had been running the external via single link DVI (digital correct?) I figured that I wouldn't run into any problems. I did some troubleshooting with what I had and plugged my computer into my TV through the mini display adapter to a single link DVI to HDMI cable and all worked fine. Do you think that a dual link DVI cable could solve the problem connecting to my monitor? Or is my monitor flat out incabable? Third party adapter? Worst case I could just go VGA, though I don't want to. My monitor is a Sceptre x20.

My Macbook Pro was working fine when suddenly Safari froze, so I forced quit. After opening Safari again, the page just stayed white and wouldn't load. None of my other programs requiring internet are working either (ie. AIM, Skype), even though my internet connection is listed as connected and other devices using Wifi are working perfectly. Could this be some sort of virus?

My Late 09 MacBook Air has been working a treat, not a spot of bother. All of a sudden, about 5 minutes ago, I've gone to go online to download some research papers (I'm *trying* to write an essay) and it won't load anything. Not even my Twitter app. It is connected to the right network, which is working absolutely fine on every other device in the house (windows computers, iphone etc). I've turned it off and on twice, the way that us clueless folk do.. now I don't know what to do.

My problem is I keep loosing 'Internet' signal on my network, the network still runs fine and all computers (macbook, imac and macbook pro) are still connected to the network and can still transfer files but there is no internet connection. I am not 100% sure but this seems to happen once more than one computer is on the network at once. It happens randomly and their seems to be no real sequence or pattern as to when it happens.
I was advised to change the ports on my router from 11 to say 6 or others, this didn't seem to help, and I have since thought as my imac is hard wired with an ethernet cable this wouldn't effect this computer as it is not connected over wireless but this computer IS still affected. I have tried numerous hard resets and fimrware updates etc but no joy, the router i'm using is a Belkin http://www.jivetel.com/product_info....in%20F5D7230-4
I am going to move into a new house soon. I am looking to network the house, so I can use the internet anywhere, share movies,etc. This is my current setup at my apartment.
1 x Mac Mini connected to my TV in the lounge
1 x Apple TV connected to the TV in the bedroom
1 x Main PC in the study room (which all my movies/tv series/music/etc... is stored)
2 x Laptops
1 x Apple 20" Cinema Display
The mac mini is connected via ethernet to the router & the apple tv is connected via WiFi. Its currently a small place so the apple tv can access the router's wireless signal. This is what I have in mind for our new house which kinda big in size. Trash the PC and buy a mac mini server and external NAS storage. The NAS storage will store all the movies/tv series/mp3's/etc. I currently have a ubiquity nanostation2 which I can setup to boost the wireless signal throughout the house so we can use wireless anywhere in the house & tv mac mini, laptops & apple tv can access the wireless (so i do not have to install ethernet cables throughout the house). Also in the future, I would want to install security cameras outside the house (still trying to find a good mac OS X security camera software). Before I buy the mac mini server & NAS, am i missing anything or is there another better solution?
recently my mbp has not been connecting with my network to the internet. everything else connects just fine. my mbp connects just fine to other networks. but when I try to connect it to my network it fails. it says something about having a self assigned ip address. any remedies on how to fix this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter the re install i was unable to get my wireless internet to work. It worked 100% before i had the crash, all other pc's still work wirelessly. Here is a little rundown of my situation.
1. I can connect to my network with a full strength singnal.
2. I can't connect to the internet through the network.
3. I had it working before i had to reinstall my os
4. My dads powerbook, my windows pc, my ipod touch, all work wirelessly still through the network.
I tried to copy setting from the powerbook but it has tiger and im running leopard it does not have the same options. I connect using PPPOE but when using the assistant it will either,
1. keep telling me to reboot the modem (nothing found)
or
2. cant find pppoe host (Im with sympatico - canada DSL)
one of the coffee shops that i frequent has wifi, and recently i haven't been able to get online. it says i am connected to the network will full strength, but am not connected to the internet. i even bought my ipod touch tonight to check, and it worked just fine. everyone around me is surfing as usual... why am i experiencing this? it's been this way for a few weeks now. did they somehow block me from connecting?

It creates Wireless network (called "default") for the first floor. On the second floor there is an AirPort Extreme Basestation. Its hooked up to the DrayTek by ethernet and creates a network (called "AirPort Extreme". To the AirPort there is a 500 gb USB drive and a USB printer connected.
1 floor: DrayTek hooked up to the phone line creating a network
2 floor: AirPort Extreme hooked up to the DrayTek via ethernet, creating a new network. Got 500gb USB drive and a USB Printer connected to the AirPort.
AIM: I want to be able to access the USB drive and the printer over internet. I dont have a MobileMe acc, and i dont want to create one. I know it would be much easier if the AirPort would be hooked up to the phone line directly, but Its not possible...
Today I added a new member to my Mac family and became the proud owner of a 2.26GHz Mac mini, which will be used as a home theater computer for my HDTV. It's been great, but I noticed one significant problem. I'm a usenet user, and on my MacBook Pro I download video at about 1.8MBps (not mbps, which my connection is at 15mbps) which is very fast and handy.
I bought this Mac mini expecting it to be able to do the same, but even from when I first opened Safari, I noticed the pages took awhile to load. Now that I'm using usenet, I notice I peak at 0.7MBps maximum but average at around 0.4MBps. What is the cause for such a discrepancy? I'm on a 802.11n network as well, powered by an Apple Time Capsule in fact. My MacBook Pro has no internet troubles and is blazing fast, I'm not sure why this is being so slow.
If I log off, put the computer to sleep, or restart, I have to access network preferences and enter the password before the internet will work. Yes I'm checking the box that says "remember password in keychain". What gives?

My iMac connects to this wirelessly via a WiFi dongle. I also have a windows xp machine networked to my iMac via a crossover cable. I would like to be able to have my xp box connect to the internet by perhaps accessing the wifi dongle on my Mac. I know I could just purchase another dongle and do it that way, easier but would defeat the purpose.

This morning, while I was downloading some files, my internet connection died on me. At 1st I thought it was my provider and I usually fix that by restarting my Router. I did that, but nothing happened. I could detect and connect to my WiFi but I had no internet access! My wife's PC and mobile phone connect perfectly well to my WiFi and so does my iPhone!!! My MacBook now only works with Ethernet. Let me add that I have the 13.3" MacBook unibody running the latest Leopard 10.5.8. software upgrades.

I am getting downoad speeds of just 52kbs on my mac when on the pc at the same time speedtests are showing 4.2mbs.
What can be causing this? I don't understand.
It seems as well that my mac is using the available speed, it's just getting lost somewhere. I'll explain:
I was doing a speedtest on the pc and when the dial was showing the current speed when running the test it was just 0.4 mbs, at this time I was downloading Skype application on my mac, it was saying speeds of 15kbs so it had been taking ages. When I then paused the download on my mac, the speedtest dial on the pc shot up to 4.2mbs on the pc. So it seems as though the bandwith is getting lost somehow on the mac, it's being used, but it's not being used right.
So my Mac Pro is connected to the internet via an ethernet cable that is hooked up to my Powerbook G4 that has internet sharing enabled. The Powerbook G4 is connected to the internet via Airport. My main iTunes library is on my Mac Pro. I own an Apple TV and would like to be able to access the iTunes library from my Apple TV. My issue is, since the Mac Pro is connected via internet sharing, it seems like it doesn't get included as part of the network. It is connected to the internet, does everything perfectly fine. But searching for it from my Apple TV or from my iPhone remote app, it seems like it's not "part of the network." Anyway to make it included in the network when it's connected via internet sharing?

I recently did a clean install of leopard and then migrated my account back on to my MBP non-santa rosa 2.33. Now, when I attempt to internet share from my ethernet to computers using airport, they are able to see the network, connect to it, and put in the password, but internet fails to connect. I'm on a college network, but this shouldn't really matter since I currently have a network of this type working perfectly on an iMac running Tiger. The signal reads at full strength and behaves just like it should, just it doesn't allow an internet connection. No firewall is on.

I'm trying to use my Wi-Fi to surf the internet and the Ethernet to log to my LAN Network. Both networks have access to the inernet through different ISP's and both have Wi-Fi modems. I set up the Wi-Fi as my preferred network followed by the Ehternet connection. That way I can surf the web through the ISP that I want and I can see the other computers on the LAN Network. However, when I try to use any of the Network printers of log to the server I can't connect. Can anyone tell me if I have to set up the connections in any particular way? I'm using Mac OS X Lion on a Macbook Pro 13". The server controlling the LAN is a Windows Server 2008 R2.

I can't use my Facetime as I enter my Apple ID it keeps coming up with "Facetime could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." but my network is ok and can access the net. My apple ID works fine with iTunes and Apple TV and my iPad so I am at a loss.

I have a weird problem when i try to connect to the internet with my MBP. I run on Lion (10.7.4) and it the problem appeared a few days ago, internet was working before. So here's the deal : Airport is working fine, and when I check my network settings and ask for a diagnostic, the assistant tells me i AM connected to the internet and claims it works alright. But when I open Safari or Chrome, I can't go on any site, because each time it says the operation timed out. My family has others computers connected to the same modem and they all have a working connection.
I tried entering manually the address to check if it was a simple DNS problem but it isn't. I tried restarting the modem and my computer, turning Airport on and off, deleting all the network datas my computer had saved to set up this network as a new one, adding a new location, renewing the DHCP lease.
