I have been using Inquisitor as a search add-on to Safari for ages, and even after its acquisition by Yahoo! it still searched Google when configured to.
The last week or so it has no longer searched Google, but Yahoo! searches when configured do work as expected.
I have removed Inquisitor now, because I find Yahoo! not very good...
Anyone else having the same issue? This is v3.2 of Inquisitor on Safari3
I have used Google for years and Safari. I use Google search as my home page. (the same issue occurs if I go to google)
When I enter a search item in the search bar; the search bar shifts to the upper left corner of the screen. Then, my items appears. However, no search occurs. When I hit search, nothing happens.
I switch to Firefox and my Google is working fine. I downloaded the most recent Safari. No change.

I finally made the switch to iCloud from mobile me three days ago. I check my mac.com mail through gmail and today I noticed that I have not received e-mail through gmail for three days - I am getting authentication failed message. Do I need to change the pop and smtp addresses, or is this just a problem with iCloud and gmail?
View 5 Replies View RelatedRecently I've downloaded Inquisitor 3.0 since it was free and it looks like an awesome app.
But once installed, I could not install it. I've searched the web and the versions that has uninstaller was previous versions. ie. 2.0
So now I cannot uninstall.
Aside from that, it made my safari looks so bad and I cannot edit it.
I have had inquisitor installed and working for months with no problems. For no apparent reason it has stopped working properly. In that it only shows one link "local" and when clicking on this nothing happens. I had downloaded release 58 and Safari is 3.2.1.

When search all I get is three suggestions rather than websites (even though this is selected under preferences).
I'm just wondering - do you guys use Safari extensions, and if so, which? I used to use Saft, Inquisitor and Safariblock. Just run into Glims today - how do you like it compared to Saft? Obviously, it runs with WebKit nightlies which Saft does not, that's a point. As for adblocking - is Safariblock state of the art, or do you recommend something else?

Previously the solution was to install Safari plugins Inquisitor or Glims but Apple have removed the interfaces from Safari 4 that these plugins used - and there is still no built in Safari Preference to set the locale of the Google search. Effectively this renders the Safari Google Search field pretty well useless - at least for UK users. The desktop switch is easy, I would simply replace my Dell with an iMac, but I also need a portable computer, running OS-X not iOS, to replace my ageing netbook, running debian. I will be using it for Internet access, light audio editing and streaming with Audacity, QuickTime and VLC (Ogg, FLAC, etc), some light spreadsheet work (I will switch to Numbers), heavy writing (I will switch to Pages), Sykpe, iCal, and Mail, but most importantly: I am a very heavy user of Google Earth and Google Maps. I am currently looking at the entry level MacBook Air 11.6 as this has a footprint similar to my netbook, but is far thinner and lighter. I rarely use my netbook for more than a couple of hours so battery life is not critical.
I have searched the web and here on MacRumors but I cannot find anyone who has installed Google Earth on the entry level MacBook Air 11.6. I would like to know how it handles navigation, elevation, layers, and streetview? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've noticed recently some odd behavior regarding google chrome and my download stacks in the dock. I have my download stacks folder set so that the most current downloaded object shows up as a preview (ex. if its a pdf a photo of the pdf appears).
However recently I've noticed that when i download some .rar files or mp3's, the preview in the stacks icon is just a blank text document. its not until i click the stack and it fans out that i see that a preview of my downloaded file (ex. mp3 will show its album art).
when i click the stack again and the items fan back into the stack, the preview once again turns back into a blank document image instead of the corresponding mp3 image.
When Google Docs first came out I was very excited. The reason it suits me so well, is for my family finances. For budgeting, I've created a fairly advanced cash flow sheet on Google Spreadsheet. It gives me a quick glance at my month-to-month finances, and also, because it is Google Docs, I can make changes from anywhere with an internet connection and a web browser! Beyond that, my wife and I can view the document at the same time, and discuss changes in real-time.
But why is Google Docs so slow on my mac? At work, on my PC, Google Docs is quite fast, and an enjoy to use. At home, on my 5 year old iMac (using Firefox since Safari is not supported). I know my connection at home is faster, so that is not the issue, and up until a few days ago I assumed it was because my mac was so old. However, this weekend I went home and looked up my finances on my brother's brand new 24" 2.4Ghz iMac, and the same symptoms held true. Is the site not optimized for Macs?
So we OS X users haven't been able to get our hands on Google Chrome, yet, but apparently there's this new browser set to fill that void called "Stainless."
I've tried it out and it seems pretty good, but I'm interested in seeing its benchmarks in comparison to Chrome. I'm lovin' the GUI of Stainless!
google and yahoo wont load. all other websites work fine except for these two.
I experience this problem in all browsers: Firefox 3.5b4, Firefox 3.5, Safari beta. It just happened randomly. I've tried rebooting and dissabling all add-ons in firefox.
After three easy erase, install, time machine backups everything is working great. I am amazing at how quick and easy it was to do this for my family's computers.
The only trouble I am having is getting google search results in Safari to open in another tab, instead of the same window, or a new window. Anyone else see this, or have a way to make this work? I like to click on a google link, and have it open in a new tab.
Has anyone been able to locate a download for Google Earth 5 latest build which does not include Google Updater. I do not want the Updater on my System.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of the reasons I like Firefox is I can highlight words, right click, and "Search Google" which *opens in a new tab*. Safari can right click to search Google, but it opens the new page within the same window. Is there any software to have the Google search open in a new tab? Maybe this should be a feature request.

However, it checks for email really randomly.
Sometimes I'll click on the mail icon and it hasn't checked for mail in over 15min.
Is there anyway to force it to check for new email every minute?
I did a google search but couldn't find it - does anyone have a link so I can down download it as I fancy giving it a try.

One day last week it just wouldn't load anymore. i can click it and it will appear in my taskbar like its running, but no go on the UI. I've "googled it".... the problem that is... wow googling a problem with google. What are we coming to? Anyway, I've seen some stuff about it not running on Windows XP, but nothing about MAC.

I have the .dmg file which when i open shows me the plug in as a sort of Lego brick and states I must double click to install. So i double click. Nothing appears to happen, but i assume it has and go back to Google Maps which tells me i still need the plug in! Please tell me how to manually install plug ins or what could be wrong with my poor mac.
