well this just started fairly and I really have no idea why, basically when I download a new app like powder game or desmemu for example, the icons will not show, it shows that sort of "paper with the pencil and ruler ect that makes a 'A' mark at the bottom right" icon :/
Is there a way to fix this? I rebuilt the cache and stuff and it didn't fix it.
On my desktop the little disk image icons are coming up when i open certain applications. I wanna make them disappear, but still be able to see ipods, cds, and external drives.
Also(somewhat irrelevant), occasionally when i open firefox, it asks me to drag it in the applications folder, but it's already there. please help. its so annooying
And one is .rar.002 and the other is .rar.001 what do I do with these?

I would like to select a consecutive list of items (photo's) in 'view as icons' but I don't seem to be able to do that. It is possible in 'view as list/coloms' by selecting the first picture, press shift key, select last picture. But when I try to do this in 'view as icons' I can only select the first and the last picture. All the pictures in between are not selected. Am I doing something wrong? It is possible in windows iview icons by using the ctrl and shift keys, so I was wondering if it's also possible in mac.

OS 10.5.8. While working in Quark I suddenly see duplicates under the Apple menu for "shut down", "Log out", and "restart". All of these items are listed twice now. There are also Black Frames around anything I click on. (maybe I hit a strange keyborad command by mistake? I've run the Disk Utility from start-up disk, and that found "no problems", but list and black frames still there.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using safari's activity window for downloading all sorts of media by using the activity window. However, the items in the activity window no longer show up. On youtube for example, the mb file is no longer showing up in the windows activity like it use to. In the past, when this problem occurred, refreshing the page would fix this problem but this method is no longer working. I have noticed that this problem is only happening to youtube. When i went to vimeo, the video file could still be viewed in the activity window whilst it was loading, e.g. 1.3 mb of 30mb. I am using a macbook pro running on mac os x with safari version 5.0.3.Â

I've downloaded (or attempted to download) the same video Podcast 5 times. Each time, the file fully downloads, disappears from the Downloads screen, but does not appear in the Podcasts screen. This is likely a Snow Leopard issue, but since it's happening on my Macbook....
Icons are (mostly) not displaying. In Finder my /Applications folder is ok, but anything new I install into it will have a name but no icon. In /Applications/Utilities no icons are showing My dock is ok, so far at least. On my Desktop (my default folder for downloads) anything downloaded will have a name but no icon. When installing a new program no icon for the app displays, just the name.
I don't know when this started happening, but all of a sudden in coverflow all the images display as their file type icon, not the preview of the image, which defeats the purpose of coverflow. Anyone know how this happened and how to switch it back?
Incidentally, all the icons show for Xee, the image browsing app, which I'm using only because Preview is being a jerk and constantly displaying itself in my secondary monitor, which I keep off most of the time (it's a wacom cintiq, and it's distracting to have turned on when not in use). If I can somehow fix this all by fixing preview and getting rid of Xee, I certainly would.
The icons for the songs on one of my albums are wrong. How can I correct them to show the correct icons? I've tried the "get album artwork" but it doesn't put the correct icon on the song. (There was a volume 1 and a volume 2 and all the icons are from volume 1).

Yesterday I accidentally opened Terminal and didn't realize it until after I typed into it and hit a few returns. I thought nothing of it until today. When I started up all of the desktop icons were ghosted or transparent. The Dock apps look fine, and everything seems to work OK. There are odd .DS_Store files everywhere and other files that start with a dot that I've heard are supposed to be invisible.
I've looked around and found out that it's a Finder problem that can be corrected by typing something into Terminal. That's how I realized I must have messed it up yesterday when I accidentally typed into the Terminal. What code I need to enter into Terminal to restore it to the default settings. I have a Dual 2.7 GHz PowerPC G5 with OS 10.4.11, and other than this problem it works great.

Recently I've been having a problem with the way my icons are arranged. It's like the screen its moved a little bit up. There's an image to show you how it looks like when it happens (because it happens sometimes, I dunno what I causes).
