I'm trying to connect my Macbook pro to our Exchange Server 2003 via Entourage. Entourage is asking me for the "LDAP" information, and cannot complete setup without it. But our server doesn't use LDAP configuration.

Apple has built in support for Microsoft's Exchange Server 2007. This is what, on a PC, pushes and synchronises all your email, contact info and calendar entries to Outlook and your phone. By doing this, OS X's Mail, iCal and Address Book apps sync up just like Outlook. Note that if your company is still running Exchange Server 2003 (ours is), you will still be able to sync Snow Leopard with your office server. We confirmed this with Microsoft, a spokesperson from which said, "Correct -- it will work with Exchange Server 2003 as well." Our IT boffins here at CBSi confirmed this too. I know it's still early, but has anyone had any luck getting this to work? I'm about 30 minutes away from installing the $29 SL on my laptop. And I'm really hoping to have the ability to eliminate having a PC desktop on at work strictly for the connection to our exchange server 2003.
has anyone been able to set up an exchange account in Outlook for Mac 2011 with Small Business Server SBS 2003? Microsoft claim that Exchange 2007 or later is required but I wondered if there was a work-around.

I am now becoming stuck though. In entourage I have set up my account through the LAN at my workplace, but when looking to update my emails at home over my wifi network, it wont connect. Also I would like to access my documents and root folders from my profile on the XP work network, without running Parrealells or bootcamp (as I dont want to install XP on this machine). Entourage 12.2.0 was working fine on my OSX 10.6.2. I believe after upgraded Entourage to version 12.2.3, all my outgoing mail were not updated to exchanges server.
All mail reaches it intended recipients and a copy keep in local folder. other function like calender and contact are able to sync with exchange without problem.
I accidentally deleted my entire exchange calendar. I use entourage to manage my exchange account. I have a back-up of the main identity file from just before the delete. Great, right? Sure, except that when I swap out the current (without calendar data) main identity with the back-up main identity (with calendar data), the data populates the calendar, but then gets wiped when entourage syncs with the exchange server. Specifically, the data disappears when syncing is at the "Updating sync issues" stage (as noted in the lower right hand corner of entourage during sync).
Neither I or my IT girl can sort out how to force entourage to use the local calendar data instead of the blank server calendar data.
Any ideas?
This is my last year in high school and I really was looking forward to the native exchange support...but our school uses exchange 03... I'm pretty sure the college I go to will have 07, but is there any chance apple will get support for 03 just like the iphone does?

So will I have to enable Exchange IMAP in order to connect? Will it support 2003 if I select Exchange 2007?
I am trying to set up my mail on my new macbook air running Lion. However, I'm using Exchange 2003? I've tried everything I can think of. I have the outgoing and incoming mail server info. I also know the domain name. I would much prefer to get my mail through this program than going on line which is what I'm doing all the time right now!!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am about to purchase my first mac, having been a PC person all my life. Currently I use Outlook 2003 extensively. There are an awful lot of emails, callendar entries etc which I must hold onto and be able to access. This is vital. In migrating to Mac (a move well over due) I am anxious that I can transfere my Outlook files (emails/contacts/callendar etc) into Entourage. I would have though this would be possible using PST files - however some internet research has led me to beleive this might not be the case.
I have searched for this item in the forums here on cnet and someone came up with the following like. [URL] which I cannot seem to get to bring up anything useful. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have one client that my server "serves". I just replaced the hard drive and installed 10.5 on it. (So, my server is at 10.4 but the client is at 10.5). I'm trying to get so I can log in. I figured out how to get the client to see the LDAP (or Open Directory). The machine is now "managed". I can tell because the log in screen has my own message on it. When I type in my user name and password, it finds it but then it says that there has been an error. So, its almost working but not quite. Can a 10.5 client work from a 10.4 Open Directory server?

I've a copier enable to connect to an LDAP server to have access to mail, fax numbers and more of users/clients. I would like to connect this copier to a user's Address Book. But, user's address book is on the server, and it's a CardDAV address book. Is there a way to have access to this address book trough LDAP?

I get a green light in my Network Account Server, but queries against LDAP return no results. My end goal is to be able to dictate to Profile Manager what LDAP groups are allowed to enroll devices. I tested on our internal network on a test server and get the same results. Anyone have any luck connecting a Lion Server to LDAP and actually being able to view and utilize users and groups?

I just transferred a group of users from the Local directory to the LDAP directory. There directories are in place and haven't changed, and neither has the size of the email folders in the Library->Server->Mail->Data folder. But now, there are no messages in the directories, including the Inbox. It's empty except for a single message that says "no subject" and has no content.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the Student ed of Mac Office 2008. The only thing I can't do with Entourage is Exchange right? Every time I try to send an attachments. It lets me pick the file(s), no problem here. Then I tell it to send it. Once the mail has been sent, the attachments don't open on the original or the sent copy. If I try to open it though Entourage I get "Entourage Error Unknown". If I save the file and try to open it that way. It will launch the right app to open the file correctly. But the App will tell me this file is corrupted or incomplete. Now it's not allowing my to save the attachments. I get some "Entourage Error Unknown". I get this on both sides with the original post and with the sent file.

I'm doing a complete clean install, and migrating specific information over (we had some corruptions from the initial installation Lion Server). All our users are in LDAP, not the Local directory, and I can't seem to figure out (and don't have the ability to test) if using the Ser Admin app's Archive feature of Open Directory, will include all LDAP information. My understanding is that if I create an archive and restore to it, then all of my users and there information will be put back like nothing happen, but can't get any clarification on it.

however at the moment i have calendar and contacts twice. once in exchange and once in On my Computer.

I've recently bought a macbook and I love it, but am trying to connect to my outlook server and having a few problems. Firstly I can't access OWA through Safari at all, every time I type it in it says 'Safari can't find the server' - it is sbs2003, and this works fine in IE Ideally I wanted to set up access through Mail or Entourage (2008) however I've read that it is not possible to connect to exchange through this. Frustrating as I have just bought this and have a free upgrade to 2011 but only home and student so apparently this won't have outlook on here either. I have been trying to connect for days and I just can't figure out the best way to get to my emails? if you could point me in the direction of a good walkthrough that would be great.

I found a few instances of people having trouble getting it running on MacBook Pros and other systems. I also found an article on a workaround to do it on a MacBook: [URL] Even the 32-bit version of Server 2003 can handle 32GB of RAM via PAE and I have several licenses for it.

To set up Windows Windows Server 2003 R2 on a Jan 2008 Mac Pro:
Boot OS X and run Boot Camp Assistant as usual. Install Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 as usual (comes as 2 discs, but only requires the second disk upon your first successful log in so this isn't a problem with bootcamp). Eject the Windows installation CD in the windows explorer by right clicking the D: drive and selecting Eject.........................
I've tried typing some search terms for what I think I want to be able to do, but I'm getting nothing relevant- I figured I'd just spell out my problem on the forums and see if there are any solutions. I work for an EMS organization that has several windows workstations (running xp) that connect to a larger server, which hosts our shared drive ("U") as well as windows specific programs for generating reports. Specifically, one of our call logs is a microsoft access database that is linked via our network to generate a specific reference number for our calls.
Now, I'm moving up in the world and going to be directing human resources and pr for the agency, and while the windows workstations are nice, I am a damn fine mac user and would love to use my unibody 17" pro for the job. Here is where my questions come in. I'd like to use my mac running virtualbox, parallels, or whatever with an xp install to connect to the server and have a typical workstation desktop (the U drive, network attached programs) next to my osx desktop. I know macs can access shared drives on server 2003, but can I set up a virtual machine to emulate one of our workstations?
I have Office 2008 Home and Student installed on my MBP. I recently upgraded to a hosted Exchange solution and they offer a download of Entourage 2008 that will allow Exchange Server interaction.
When I loaded that version over top of my install, Entourage will not open. It gives me an error about the identity not being able to open the item.
I have a user running Entourage Web Services Edition with an Exchange 2007 email account. Two days ago, email messages stopped automatically arriving in the user's inbox. The only way to get new messages was to manually click the send/receive button or quit and re-open Entourage.
We have re-set the user's caches and rebuilt the database but the issue keep re-occurring.
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and Office for Mac 2008 (Student Edition). I am trying to setup my university email (web based) on Entourage and it says I cannot have an exchange email (or something along these lines). I was told to download "EWS-1304-EN.dmg", but when I get to "Select a Destination", the following message is displayed: "Entourage 2008, Web Services Edition can't be installed on this disk. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume."
