OS X :: Enabling PHP In Terminal

Apr 20, 2009

I am in Terminal, trying to enable PHP. I have found

#LoadModule php5_module libexec/apache2/libphp5.so

but I cannot delete the # sign. When I highlight the # and press delete, nothing happens, but I can delete other letters in this window. Is there another way to enable?

Applications :: Unable To Use Terminal / Terminal Stucks At Blank Login Window

Oct 20, 2009

Anybody see this before? I opened up Terminal.app and the window is completely blank. There is nothing in it whatsoever. Looks as if bash never started. The title bar simply says "Terminal — login — 80x24". I can type whatever I want in the Terminal window like it's a text document and nothing happens. If I restart the computer, this seems to fix the problem, but it seems to only be a temporary fix as the issue happens again soon after.

I'm trying to do something in terminal, and it asks for my password. I press a letter on my keyboard, and nothing appears. I am in the right window and everything, terminal just doesn't react to my typing. However, when I click enter, it says 'Sorry, try again'. So it does react to the enter key.

OS X Server :: Processes Started In Terminal End When Terminal Closed?

Jan 29, 2008

I'm running Symantec Backup Agent on our mac osx server. I start the agent in the terminal (./agent.be). It returns a notification that it started the service, however, it doesn't return to the prompt. Closing the terminal gives a warning that the process will be closed if the terminal is closed. Closing it does kill the process. Ctrl+c to return to the prompt also kills the process. So it's as if once the process is started in the terminal, nothing can be altered.

I am not much of a mac guy so please forgive me if this is a stupid question.

Anyone have any advice on how to handle this so the process is ALWAYS running?

OS X :: Unable To Install Terminal App - Run Terminal As Admin?

Aug 19, 2010

I'm on a standard user account and I would really like to install icalbuddy which is a terminal app. When I install apps normally I simply have to provide a admin name and pw, but this doesn't work when it is a terminal app because it requires that the 'su' command be run.

So I thought that I could run terminal as admin through 'su - admin' and then install. But of course the admin account doesn't have access to the user folder where the installer is located. I just can't win.

OS X :: Enabling AirPrint In Mac?

Nov 28, 2010

Since AirPrint is only working for select printers right now, it doesn't work for many people. I have heard of ways to workaround this.

First I have heard of adding certain files into the Mac's file system, I hear this is tricky and doesn't work for everyone. Another way I have heard is through applications such as Printopia. I know there are other applications that are free but I have heard some bad things, also I don't want to pay $10 for Printopia.

OS X Technologies :: Enabling PHP On Mac 10.6.6

Mar 26, 2012

PHP version 5.3.3 seems installed. But when I attempt to open php pages the browser opens them as text. It seems that I must edit the httpd.conf file to actually enable php. I changed the permissions on the file with sudo chmod ug+rw for httpd.conf. TextEdit still doesn't allow me to change it. It's saying that I don't have permission to write to that folder. I changed the permission the /etc/apache2 and that didn't help. What must I do to be able to modify httpd.conf and enable php support? Is there a different way to enable PHP? I am aware that MAMP is an option. But I should not have to use that option if php is available in apache.

I am struggling to see if this is possible to do. Maybe it is not?

OS X :: Enabling Typeahead In The Login Window?

Jul 23, 2009

One of the things I liked about 10.4 is that you could type ahead before the login window was fully started and it would keep what you typed. In 10.5, OSX discards everything you typed before it fully started. Is there any way to enable the 10.4 behavior?

MacBook :: Enabling F5 / F6 For On Non-backlit-keyboard AlBooks

Jan 15, 2009

System: Silver Macbook
OS X Ver.: Leopard
Backlit Keyboard?: No

Essentially my problem is that I'm unable to set new shortcuts for the F5 and F6 keys for my Silver Macbook. Since it doesn't have a backlit keyboard, there's no function for F5 and F6. I'd like to make them go to shortcuts such as "Show Desktop" and "Spaces", both of which are supported under the "Keyboard Shortcuts" Tab of "Keyboard & Mouse". So, I have them configured to match up to F5 and F6, but they do not activate the corresponding function when pressed.

I have the "Use function keys as standard function keys" checkmark unset:I apologize for the fairly small problem...I just really want to free up those two keys! I appreciate any response.

Applications :: Foxfire 3.5.7 - Enabling Color Management

Feb 5, 2010

I have Foxfire 3.5.7 and I want to make sure that it is being color managed and showing things on the web in sRGB. I did a google search and frequently come up with the steps of:

1. type 'about:config' in the address line
2. then change 'gfx.color_management_enabled' to 'true'

The problem is that I don't have that preference. The closest thing I have is below. And for the value it isn't 'true' or false' but it links to a color profile. Why don't I have that preference from #2? Is my browser color managed currently though?

gfx.color_management.display_profile
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles/Recommended/sRGB Color Space Profile.icm

Applications :: Enabling Google Chrome Bookmark Shortcuts?

Feb 12, 2010

I recently started using Google Chrome after seeing all of the new extensions. So far a few things are still left to be desired. I was wondering if anyone knew of an extension I could use to enable bookmark keyboard shortcuts, i.e. Command+1 for your first Bookmark in your Bookmark Bar on Safari. In chrome Command+1 will select a tab if you have multiple tabs open.

The lack of the shortcut has severely slowed down my work flow, I have been using Command+L to focus the address bar and manually typing in the website. I have searched a lot today and found Bookmark Launcher, Shortcut Manager, and Chrome Dial. I am not looking for these extensions. I might use something like USB overdrive and map out the key combination (if I can).

What's also interesting is that both sudo -i and sudo -s work just fine with root disabled. Why can I no longer do "sudo su -" with root disabled?
