I have a MacBook Pro, aluminum running Snow Leopard, 10.6.2.
When I type something, there are times when my cursor will spontaneously skip to another location. As an example: if I am typing this, the cursor might jump to the subject title area.I have been very careful to not touch the trackpad and still have this trouble. I posted this problem some time ago, but had no help or information about this at all. It is getting quite frustrating and I am hoping that someone out there will have a clue about this and perhaps a solution.
I am running Snow Leopard on a new MacBook Pro. I have noticed that often when I am typing, the cursor will jump to another location. So, I might be typing on a line and then suddenly, the cursor will jump to a line, usually above the line that I had been typing on.
ive had some decent experience with minor automation, but now im trying to get a little more serious.
1. i'm wondering if its possible to write a script that could open up an application, folder, or document such that the header bar of the window opens just under my mouse.
so the key would be to read where the mouse is located and move the said window there.
2. when writing scripts for specific applications, where do you find out what the applications specific names to functions calls, and actions?
Anyone come across this? I 've been having it a lot recently on my imac, not my pbook though, and I can't seem to find how to fix it... very strange behaviour, as soon as you start writing the cursor vanishes...make for some very hard writing I tell you...
Well, that's ms, they might even have it as an option somewhere that I cannot find...
MacBook Pro OS X 10.8.5 date and time set automatically to use a network time server (domain controller). After a few weeks of the end-user utilitizing it on their home network, the time reverts back to January 6, 2012. How can I set a secondary location if the first location is unreachable?
I moved my iTunes media folder to an external hard drive to free up space on my iMac's hard drive. The new one is located on a hard drive attached to my Airport Express. Since then, I keep getting messages stating that certain items weren't copied to my iPhone because the originals couldn't be found. When I check, the iTunes media folder has reverted to the location on my iMac's main hard drive.
How can I prevent this? At best this is annoying, but it also is using up hard drive space unnecessarily. Is this behavior avoidable, or is it something that goes with the territory when you move your media folder to an external hard drive?
Equipment: Mac Mini (Early 2009), Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, Lion. I started noticing my Mac Mini was having trouble reconnecting my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, slow processing (spinning pinwheel of death), and programs freezing. I did a recovery within Lion from the recovery drive and it seemed to work for a week or so. It started acting up again. So, I decided to erase the HD and reinstall Lion. I basically use the Mac Mini as a server for all my iTunes content.
My iTunes default save location is to my Drobo storage unit. Now that I have reinstalled Lion, I am looking for the easiest, most convenient, and safest way to change the default save location in iTunes and then importing the media. It would be nice if it was possible to just simply change the default save location to the folder I previously had all my media saved in and it would just magically appear in iTunes. Everything was organized perfectly, which took hours of time and attention to details.

My early `08 mac pro has been having problems with it's superdrive, will not burn DVD's, and it's skipping on burning CD's. Can anyone recommend a good replacement drive.
I have used 3 iMac's/Macbooks and continue to have this issue. I even had a 27" i7 with 8 gb/ram. Every time I would click or do something while a video was streaming (on Hulu for example) I would get a slight stutter in the video.I have all updates installed. I know many of you use Mac Mini's to stream media to your televisions. I don't understand why I've experienced these problems with three different computers. I suppose it may be a Flash problem? Just looking for tips. I noticed it again today when I tried to stream something on CNN.
I currently operate in the dark ages with OS X Tiger. I would like to upgrade to lion and need advice on the most economical way to accomplish this. Is there a "box set" that allows skipping steps?
When watching hulu even with a great connection speed the video will drop frames and skip but the audio will not. It's weird that the audio doesn't skip also. When watching videos in itunes the video catches or the audio gets repeated like a record going back 2 secs.
I've been having problems with VLC. When I watch fullscreen movies on my external display (24", plugged via DVI), the picture (along with the sound) occasionally skips just little a bit. This happens about once every minute or two and isn't really that bad
So my cousin wrote up a 10-page paper and he included some pictures and stuff.
He needs to add a title page and it has to have a header of '1', but for some reason I can't figure this out and neither can he. When he presses ENTER/RETURN to open up a free page at the top, it moves the texts down but not the pictures.
So what I'm trying to do now is make a blank document for the title page and put the page count there and just print that off, but NOW I need to know how to start the page count at 2, instead of 1, on the actual body of the essay.
(Btw, I have tried to do just about everything. When I copied the entire doc to paste it after the title page on a new document, it didn't even copy the pictures.)
i'm running VLC on both mac and on windows on my macbook. My VLC on mac skips around once every minute and a half. its barely noticeable but i notice it and it bothers the hell out of me. Mplayer does the same thing.
when on youtube etc my white macbook (2.0Ghz Nvidia graphics) video will start to stop/skip/stutter.basically every 5 minutes or so the video will skipa second or half second and continue playing for a minute or so then do it again.I've a solid 7 -8 Mb connection, my macbook temp is floating around 60 when watching video, right now it's 49.
When I have more than one or more application open, after a while it will keep skipping back and forth between them, and zooming in and out so you can see a smaller version of them all so they fit into the screen.
I just purchased two songs on iTunes (v.10.6), and when I play them they play normally, then about halfway through they skip to the next song all of the sudden.
I've had my macbook for almost a month now (late 2011 model) and it started a few days ago where when im playing music or watching tv shows online, my speakers start crackling or skipping a little bit. I'm worried something is wrong with the computer because i don't play my volume loud at all, and i tried plugginf in earphones and it was still doing it. It doesn't do it all the time, it'll start up and stop after a few minutes and do it again.
Songs in my iTunes playlist skip..... I can't figure out why and there is no pattern. Some play a few minutes or seconds and either stop or skip. All my devices now skip as well iPhone and iPod.
using MacBook Pro os x mavericks / I have had this issue a few times now, I have purchased new CDs and came home to import them to my iTunes library straight away. They import perfectly fine but as soon as they're finished importing to library, I go play the album and a few of the songs skip or jump (like when you play a scratched cd in a CD player) though the cds are not scratched.
I am using the external USB super drive to import as the MacBook has no cd slot built in, I thought maybe I was bumping or moving the super drive while the disk was importing and this may be effecting songs being imported properly so I deleted the albums and imported again making sure the external super drive was not moved but there is still 1 or 2 songs playing up.
I've found since updating to iTunes 10.1 that my playlists occasionally skip to the next track during playback. This has never happened before. I haven't tried to replicate it elsewhere, but did try a local reinstall. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Just noticed that when I'm lying on the bed with my MBA on my legs, watching so [URL]videos....it starts skipping in about 10-15 minutes.
I don't see core shutdowns.....but actually the video/audio is going to desync and starts skipping....is this normal? Do I have to get a MB/MBP just to watch Hulu and flash videos?
I think this may be related to the temperature, but usually it's not that hot.
Usually my G5 runs smooth as baby's behind but lately its been a bit jilted and has been freezing for a few seconds at seemingly random intervals.
I don't think it's a hardware problem, Windows seems to be working ok.
When I'm performing a simple task like typing in a URL or dragging a file to another location it will sometimes stop responding and give me the spinning beachball.
It doesn't stop running alltogether; iTunes for instace will keep playing during this period, and I can move the mouse around etc.
I notice it the most when I'm watching flash video like on youtube... the video - despite being completely loaded - will sometimes freeze and then resume a little further into the video. Very annoying.
I know this is a pretty broad problem but can anyone offer any advice? I havn't really done anything to it lately apart from install a security update.
I'm trying to make a disk in iDVD taking video from iMovie 9. No matter what I do the disk skips the opening menu and begins auto-play. It isn't looping because after one pass it goes back to what should be the Main Menu.
I've gone through the help screens and tried to un-do what it seems I ought to have done to make this happen on purpose.
I was playing music on iTunes and one of the songs I was listening to just skipped through - iTunes started skipping, 30 seconds or so at a time, through to the next song. It started to happen around halfway through the song, although exactly where is unclear. Repeatedly pushing the cursor back to where the song was before the skipping starts seems to help, in that the songs only starts skipping again a bit later. The one thing that's changed recently is that I turned on Genius.
In fact, when I turned Genius off, the issue seemed to be fixed, until it happened again. I managed to make it through most of the song, though, but the next few songs all started skipping through right from the beginning. It's now happening with every single song I try playing. I hope Genius didn't actually damage the MP3s; I have no idea what it does. All I know is that my iTunes is officially unusable. Quitting the program and restarting did nothing.
No matter what I am doing and where I am, my mac is running at 6200rpm fan speed. I have checked to see if I had a print job left open and I do not. One day, it was running in the high 1000s, and my movies were running perfectly. Now that my computer is always running at 6000+rpm. This problem is quite recent as it has just started doing this overrunning fan speed about 3 months ago. Does anyone know what I should do?
my files have started skipping the trash bin and directly deleting themselves when I drag one to the trash. Whether I hit delete, drag into an open trash window, or just drag to the trash icon, the file doesn't go into the trash, but rather deletes right away, with the standard "Are you sure you want to delete 'x'?" As if I was emptying the trash bin.
So this is a problem that's been bugging me for half a year or so. Usually, I start up a video on Youtube or the like and for about 2-3 minutes it runs smoothly, but after that, the audio skips a bit (kind of like a record skipping) and the RAM spikes. After the hiccup, it tends to run normally, but after a few seconds, it'll skip again and occasionally, the audio will degrade and all audio played back through the browser sounds heavily distorted until I restart.
I used to run Firefox, but when this problem popped up, I would get this:
so I switched to Opera, which worked for a little while, but the problem came back. I tried Safari and Chrome, but it's still there.
