OS X :: Changing Background - No Specific Folder With Pictures

Jan 22, 2009

Anyways, so when you go to change your background. You have all these options to choose from folder wise. Well I remember clearly, very very clearly back in Tiger that you could create a folder, or just an existing folder within say "Photos" and you could click it and it would access that folder and all its pictures. Mainly for changing the pictures every 5/10/30/day w/e I like my background to change often. Many pictures.

Well I have had leopard for a while. I forgot when I installed it. But I have noticed ever since then that when I try and change my background. It only lets me use photos that are inside the original Photo folder. There are no folders present inside the photo folder in the Background change area. Only pictures are present. This is a huge issue due to how I like to have things organized.

OS X :: Changing Icons On Folder - Background Not Transparent

Oct 8, 2007

I am trying to change the background on some Aliases and folders I created on my desktop. I downloaded some icons in .ico and .png format online, and I am able to use the .png format. I open up the .png file, ctrl-c it, then goto the Alias or Folder I want to change the icon on. I do a "Get Info", then I click on the icon at the top and do a ctrl-v. This changes the icon, but it puts a White background behind the icon. See the screenshot below to see what I am talking about. Screenshot of resulting icon on desktop. Site where I downloaded the icons:

OS X :: Changing Dock Background - Folder Icons And App Icons?

May 1, 2010

First off, I've searched the forums, but can't find an answer -- sorry if I missed something.Just got a new machine running 10.6.3 -- ugh, the dock and folders and so on look like clunky Windows junk :-(I miss my simple, elegant 10.4.11 dock ...I don't want to add novelty icons or that kind of thing, I just want a borderless dock that's semi-transparent or clear. And apparently all the apps out there to change the dock background don't work with Snow Leopard.I know CandyBar can help me with the folder icons and app icons, but as far as I can tell, not the actual dock background.

OS X :: Finding Window Background Pictures In 10.6?

Mar 1, 2010

I'm creating DMG installers with background pictures. My build machine is 10.6. I'm having problems getting them working consistently:If I create one on 10.4 it works fine in 10.5, 10.5 and 10.6,If I create one for 10.5 it works fine in 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6,But if I create one in 10.6, the background picture shows in 10.6 but does not show in 10.4 or 10.5.

I think I recall having seen similar reports in one or two places but there's not much information on the web. Has anyone here come across this problem? Is it recognised? Fixable? Unfortunately I have no option of running 10.5 on my build machine...

OS X :: Using IPhoto Albums For Desktop Background Pictures?

Aug 11, 2010

I have a client who likes to have her desktop background picture change every 5 seconds. This is easy to set up. I go to System Preferences and pick the choices accordingly. The pictures are selected from an iPhoto album. This works fine except when you add more pictures to that album.

I can't figure out the exact sequence needed to get it to pick up the new pictures. If you look soon after you add them to the album in iPhoto you won't see them in the little thumbnails in the System Preferences panel - you'll only see the thumbnails of the pics you had before.

After fiddling with it a bit I can get the new pictures to show up and display on the desktop as needed. But, not sure what fiddling I did to make it happen.

It may have been a log-off and log-on that was needed. Maybe a reboot is required. I need to know so I can instruct the user on how to do it herself.

Why can't I just use Apple's Preview as my pdf utility? When I save pdf files they now save into adobe 9 format, can I convert those to Apple's Preview format?

Changing Lion OS X Finder Background To Picture

The picture is 1920x1080 so I figured the size would be fine I have the 21.5" iMac.But when I change to the picture it doesn't fill the page, but fills the top left of the page. The area of the picture doesn't change when I change the size of my Finder.I also downloaded a picture of size 128x128 The picture didn't stretch, it just took the size in the top left of my finder screen.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Desktop Background Changing When Shut Down Mac?

Jun 25, 2012

For some reason, every time I turn my mac off, the desktop background changes. It always returns to the same picture, which was the second or third thing I changed my desktop to after getting my mac.

I have background switching unchecked in my preferences, and I have never selected it as an option. Also, when I go to my preferences, it will show the icon of the picture I changed it to, even though the desktop itself has switched back.

Applications :: Changing Slide Background And Themes In Powerpoint Or Keynote

Mar 12, 2010

So I have several CME Conference Lectures (slides made in PPT). Unfortunately, I guess these presenters love color, and so all slides are in a blue background with white text or some variation thereof. Personally, I like to have a print out of the slides when I am reading/preparing for my future cases. etc. and so I physically print these slides out. Unfortunately, the unnecessary background color is an unnecessary burden on my printer, and so I was wondering how I can change the the background and text in one shot so I don't have print out the unnecessary color.

I have tried trying to change the background from within powerpoint, but because the text is often in white, this causes the text to "disappear" on a white background. The only way to get the text back is to change the text color on a slide by slide basis. This is fine if the presentations are short, but most of these presentations are 200+ slides.

I was hoping there is some trick either in powerpoint or keynote to be able to change slide themes (such that background and text can change in one shot).

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Creating A Specific Rule In MAIL To Remove Ever Changing Junk Content

Apr 21, 2012

I've read some threads but none truly answer my question. I have learnt I need to create a rule in CLOUD as mail is sent to all devices from there and if I create the rule in MAIL on my desktop it does not solve the issue as it will still get sent to other devices, correct?

I want to create a rule for junk. Ever changing junk email addresses, content etc. Sometime mail recognies it and sometimes not. How can I set up a rule, filter, etc to delete these permamnently . Its hard when the sender address is ever changing, or the content is never the same. IE one day it is from weatherx@

next time w3ath3rx@, next vveatherx@..it is so annoying.  Or the content like I saw this morning every single word had a 20 in front of it...

OS X :: How To Move Specific Files From Some Folder

Feb 2, 2009

I use Lightroom 2 to catalog my photos. I am in the habit of shooting in RAW+JPG mode which means when I download my photos there is both a .NEF and a .JPG file for each photo. Having done this for several years on a PC, I now want to use iPhoto to view the jpgs and keep with Lightroom for the nefs. I therefore want to move the .JPG files from /Photography/RAW/<Year>/<Month>/<Day> to /Photography/JPG/<Year>/<Month>/<Day>. So far the only way I've worked out is to copy the entire folder structure then use Spotlight to find the nefs within the new folder structure and delete them.

OS X :: Cannot Add New Desktop Background Folder

Apr 15, 2008

In the Desktop & Screen Saver pane of System Preferences, I wanted to add a new folder for use as my desktop background images. However, when I click on the + icon to add the new folder, it does not appear in the source list and instead, it duplicates my Aperture library source, as seen in attachment 1. If I try to add the new folder again, it says it is already present in the source list, as seen in attachment 2.

I've tried deleting my com.apple.desktop.plist preference file, and that resets things, but when I go to add the folder, it does the same thing. I've tried different folder locations, different folder names -- nothing works.

OS X :: Specific Folder Requires Authentication For Some Actions?

Apr 3, 2010

I'm new here but hoping I can find some helpful information for a new problem I have with OS X. Earlier today, I noticed that my Transmission was failing to download some torrents I was snatching. Transmission couldn't create the folders I was telling it to create for new CDs in my MUSIC folder. When I looked into the problem, I noticed that I no longer had the option to create new folders and several other modification options. I created a new folder on the desktop and dragged it into the misbehaving MUSIC folder and my MacBook asked me for my password to "authenticate". What's going on? I have not encountered this issue before and it is only effecting the MUSIC folder; all of the sub-folders are functioning correctly.

MacBook Pro :: Can't Open A Specific Folder Without Mac Freezing?

Jun 6, 2010

I have a brand new macbook pro that I bought about 4 months ago. I am running snow leopard and out of the blue one day my computer gave me the spinning wheel and it went on for so long I had to power off my notebook by holding down the power. When I turned it back on I was stuck on the apple screen and I couldn't get passed it. So, I did a clean install and just moved all of my personal files and folders that my computer backed up to their original location.

After doing all of this and being up and running again I noticed when I try to access a personal folder on my system that contains images (jpegs, pngs) and some videos and psd files that my computer starts freezing up again and spinning and I have to power it off to get it to stop. I have resorted my permissions and ran Onyx once a week since this has happened and the folder is still giving me issues. I need to access this folder asap.
