Software :: Unzip With Cyberduck On Sftp Server?
Oct 11, 2009
I am trying to unzip files straight into my ftp server.
To do so, I am using Cyberduck. I am able to connect to my server, select the file, control click on the file and choose expand.
Then, the cyberduck activity is spinning for ever - without success.
I am also trying to unzip the same file via the terminal.
Again, I am able to connect to my server and put a command line like "unzip abc.zip" but the terminal do not recognize it.

I have been using an FTP/SFTP app call cyberduck. It is good and it works except for one thing. When I open the app it connects to all my bookmarks. Is there a way to stop this?

I am looking for a good FTP client, which can also handle SFTP. I have used Transit on the Mac, and WS_FTP on Windows which were both good. I was just wondering if there is anything better before I part with my money for Transit.

I have a machine running 10.7.4 that I want to be able to access via sftp/ssh.
I can login into the machine in terminal using either ssh or sftp. I cannot however login to the machine from finder via sftp. I am just told the username/password is wrong.
Equally I cannot login to the machine from certain clients on my android phone (the main reason I need sftp) I can however login from cyberduck on the other machines I have, and from some clients on my android phone.
When a mac is denied access it gives authentication failed as the reason, when a android client is denied access it gives network communtaction issues as its reason for failing, not authentication. From memory these issues started when smb broke for me in 10.7.3.
Info:
iMac (17-inch Late 2006), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

I've found (and somewhat modified) an AppleScript to sync a research folder on my MacBook with a directory on my FTP server so I can have access here and at the office to an exact close of a file system (as well as backup remotely).

I've been using cyberduck with only a few hiccups, but recently, I needed to create an ftp account for one folder. However, whenever I try to log into this new account it refuses to log in! I try the main ftp, and it works fine, then I disconnect and try the alternative It says that the "login failed" and then keeps prompting me to type in the password- which I do over and over until....well, you get the picture. Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

I am currently using a PowerMac G5, Mac OS X, v10.4.11, Cyberduck 3.0.2, and I have a question on how to configure Cyberduck to upload to AOL's FTP space. Here's what I have tried:
Protocol: FTP & SFTP
Username: my AOL screen name
Password: my AOL password
Port: AOL automatically inserts Port 21 for FTP and Port 22 for SFTP
Why am I unable to upload to my AOL FTP space using Cyberduck? I am able to upload individual files using AOL Keyword: My FTP Space.

So I downloaded two free mixtapes recently and I was unable to open the first. I downloaded it again and tried again, same error. I figured no big deal, but when I got the same 'Error 1 - Operation Not Permitted' for the second file days later, I got mad.
I repaired disc permissions and tried again, still the same error.
So I tried with StuffIt and it said "The archive may be damaged (Error #17537)". I downloaded Zipeg and tried both files-it said 'file type not supported'.
I tried the Terminal:
grant-austins-macbook:~ Grant$ unzip bobbyraynodj.zip
unzip: cannot find or open bobbyraynodj.zip, bobbyraynodj.zip.zip or bobbyraynodj.zip.ZIP.
Same error for the other file. After all that, I restarted and tried it all again, and got the same results

New Mac user here (these forums helped me make a great, informed choice of my refurbished 2.66ghz iMac), and while the learning curve is significant, I'm loving it, and already realize its just what I've wanted in a computer experience all these years. I talked with someone recently who recommended I download Stuffit for zip/unzip purposes. I did a search here on the forums and noticed quite a few people expressing frustration with it, and suggestions of multiple programs for different people. I'm a very 'basic user.' I'd rather have one program that I go-to and use for these purposes. What free zip/unzip program do you recommend?

I downloaded a zipped file from the internet (its stated on it's website that it works on Macintosh as well as windows and Linux) and when I tried unzipping it this message came up: Unable to Archive "thefilename" into documents. Error 1: operation not permitted
I'm on the Admin account so I don't see the issue...
So how can I unzip it? Its happened with a number of files

Being a relatively new Mac user, I'm not sure what the best freeware would be for what I want to do, and I don't want to download twenty different programs before I find the right one. So, I'm looking for recommendations.
1) I want to find a program that lets me easily convert .wma files to .mp3's.
2) I also want to find a free, simple program that allows me to unzip .rar files. (This is another case with mp3's, except I have twenty songs zipped into one, and can only play them with VLC RAR-Loader.)
