View 2 Replies View Relatedi replaced the motherboard on my dual 867MHz G4 MDD.the computer turns on now, and i did a fresh 10.4.11 install...but i noticed that it says "Dual 800" instead of "Dual 867" in my "About This Mac" now. i typed "sysctl hw.cpufrequency" in the terminal and discovered that it is actually running at 800MHz, and not 867MHz.

I searched but couldn't find anything that I needed. I picked up some MDDs(dual 1.25 & FW800 1ghz) with bad power supplies and eying up another MDD(Dual 867) which is working. Will the dual 1.25 and single 1ghz processor daughter card work on the previous model? I know the System clock is different and heard about removing a resister on the first gens to 167mhz FSB. I will also try and transplant the PSU too to check to see if my 2 MDDs fully work or not.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Powermac Dual G5 @2.0ghz, with 8gbs of ram, and 2 1tb drives running the latest version of 10.5. The problem I have is that I have 4 LCD monitors that I was using with my PC. I swapped that out with my mac, and while I am no novice, I didnt take into account that I cant just put any AGP and PCI video card into the system. What I need to know is if I can use two PCI video cards both with Dual Monitor outputs, and if so, which cards should I buy, and where? I found some video cards on ebay that are PCI, and it is quartz extreme compatible, but I am unable to use it with the AGP card already installed. The person selling the cards was unable to answer whether or not two of those cards could be used together. I only have about 75 per card to spend. Please help, I cant go on using this awesome machine with only one 19inch LCD. and I cant afford to buy new monitors

View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm just going to order a new Mac Pro and noticed that it was slightly cheaper to order the base dual processor model and buy the 2.93GHz hex cores myself. A couple of questions arise:
Will my AppleCare still be valid or will I have to keep the 2.4GHz Xeons if I need to return it to Apple for any reason?
Is there market for the 2.4GHz processors?
Can I upgrade to the 3.33GHz processors or will this not work?
I scanned the posts and didn't see this question, but honestly I didn't read all 20K + messages.I bought in late 2005 a dual 2.3 G5, about 6 months before the Mac/Windows combination came out. Does anyone know if I can upgrade or is it too costly to do so compared to buying a new machine.

boot or restart. BUT if I logout then back in, I get only the dock and a small dot (in the lower left corner of the screen) lit and the system does not proceed further but seems frozen. Then, if I click the finder icon on the dock things seems to come back to normal. I made few attemps to fix it by removing all "Login Items" ( via the Accounts pane) but no luck! If I log under an other account

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running a MacPro 1.1 with a 7300GT. I have two 24" monitor plugged on each DVI output of the card. Eveything worked well in leopard. I tried Snow leopard with the same setup, and there is no way to have both monitor working. No signals reaches the second screen. Worst, once boot... If I run the "screen detection", both DVI signals are stopped. SL seems the both screen, I can see them in the system configuration. Both are stated as "connected", I can even "move" windows on the second screen but of course this is useless cause there is no signal. Anyone here having the same problem ? any idea to fix it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am posting this here as well as in the Logic area, to try to get some help. I am desperate, as i can't work. In Logic Pro 7, I can't click anything in the right pane of the bounce dialog box. I CAN select PCM, Mp3 etc. on the left, but get no response from the mouse when trying to change the sample rate, interleave, dithering etc. on the right. I also can't click the flip-box to select different packages in the Loop Browser. I haven't noticed this happening in other applications. DOES ANYONE READING THIS KNOW HOW I CAN GET SOME HELP FROM APPLE? I am told i can't even buy apple care because my computer is too old. I don't know what to do. Tried trashing prefs. Not running any failed audio units. Nothing new in software update. Don't really know what else to do.

I know that I should probably delete Mac OS 9 to save HD space. But can I just install 10.0 on the same partition and select it from Startup Disk?

Im not no power user by anymeans i chat with adium x and use safari and do an occasinal bittorrent (legal of course) but the orignal problem with the g4 400 before the lighning struck it was VERRY SLOW! and I HATE waiting and it thought because of the dual prossesers it would move it along (and Low End Mac says pick a dual 500 over a single 700) so tell me if im gunna need to upgrade it.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI just got a Dual 1 Ghz MDD. It's a big step up from my 500 Mhz Sawtooth!
The problem is that it (supposedly) needs a new logic board. I've been watching logic boards on ebay, but I'm not finding anything with matching part numbers. My logic board has the following numbers:
630-4373 EEHNNW
448F2
KD2370366NFGA
630-4269
I guess the important numbers are the 630-* numbers. Perhaps one it the
'as designed' rev part number, and one is the 'as manufactured' rev part number?
I have the dual 1 Ghz processors; would they work on a 1.25 Ghz logic board? Most of the boards I see on ebay are 820-1476-A, or 820-1308-A.
What's the difference between the 820- boards and the 630- boards?
I don't have a complete service file for the MDD; can anyone email a copy?

View 12 Replies View RelatedSo I was using my second monitor to run my G5 while transferring files to my new 3.2 octo, and then the past week I was using it to transfer my old PC files to my new PC. Now I finally just went to hook it up as my second monitor on my Mac Pro, and found out that I CAN'T FIT BOTH DVI CABLES TO THE PORTS!!!
They're too close together so I can fit one monitor into either port, but not both simultaneously. My monitors are the aluminum 23" ACD's w/ DVI.
got a problem with my Optoma projektor, since i?m using a OPPO HM-31 hdmi switch that doesn?t support Dual-link DVI, so my macpro can?t display anything and just keep switching between desktop and blue screen. I?m connectting from 2600xt via dvi-hdmi through a hdmi cable. Without the switch there?s no problem.
Q: Is it possible to by bypass Dual-link DVI, so that my hdmi-switch only receives a Single-link DVI signal?
Macpro:
octo 2.8 w, 2600xt, 20" ACD
I've mini connected to 2 dell 24" LCD displays thru Y splitter (DVI to DVI/VGA). 1st display connects with DVI and the second with VGA.
Vista (bootcamp) can see both displays and it can extend the desktop to the 2nd display.
Since windows on bootcamp can use 2 monitors and OSX can't I would assume that this functionality has been disabled by apple in OSX or display driver. I know that the windows VGA driver provided by apple (bootcamp) has the dual display disabled.
Here is the question:
Where would i have to look in OSX to enable 2nd display?
Hey all, so Im pretty knowledgable when it comes to my mac but I just cant figure out why its running so slow. For example It takes about 10-12 seconds to open up firefox, thats just crazy.
I have repaired permissions, verified my disk, and even ran a techtools fullscan. Nothing seems to be working. Ive got 6.5 gigs off ram in this thing (doubt it reads it all), 150gig sys HD plus many externals for file dumping, and an ati radeon 256mb vid card plus the newest OSX.
