Basically opened up Safari as usual, googled something, and everything came up in the strange 'A' box coding/symbols. Please see the hyperlink below and if anyone has any idea what it is, or how to stop it. I'm using Google Chrome at the moment but I'm worried it's a virus? [URL]

I know how to zoom in with the a/A option on Safari, but the zoomed in effect is only temporary. When I leave Safari and return I have to go through this each time.I know that Firefox can be set permanently to a certain text size (let's call it a permanently zoomed in size), but is that possible with Safari? If so,how?

On this very page at macos. I changed the font to 48! And it made absolutely no difference. So, what's the correct way to change the font size in Safari? What can I do? I got the latest version of safari. I've tried downloading safari again but can only download version 4, and that version cant be installed it because there is a later version installed.

fonts must be messed up in Snow Leopard. Some system things display strange fonts. For example, my user name in upper right hand corner of the screen doesn't look right.ALso, the font on the "tabs," in Safari is not correct, and I can compare it to other SL computers.

The ability to download and immediately render non-standard web fonts is just one of several advancements Apple Inc. has planned for Safari 3.1, a small but significant update to its share-gaining web browser for both the Mac and Windows PCs. The release, which underwent private testing this week, will tie in a number of other enhancements, most of which have been under constant development as part of the company's WebKit open source application framework since last fall. They aim to provide Web developers a means of writing more dynamic and customizable web pages and iPhone apps, which will in turn provide surfers with a more feature-rich and enjoyable experience. For example, CSS Transforms and CSS Animations will join web downloadable fonts in allowing Safari 3.1 and iPhone users to render web pages and web apps with enhanced design messages and real-time visual effects. The other night I pulled some fonts that I downloaded a few years ago off of my external hard drive and installed them one by one into Font Book to the User profile. Right after I finished this, I noticed that now about 80% of the text on pages in Safari now appeared as the Yahoo font, instead of what they used to be (I visit about 10 different sites on a regular basis, so there's probably a variety of fonts that normally appear, but now most things appear as the Yahoo font). I don't have any style sheet selected in the Safari preferences, and the font preferences are untouched from what they are when Safari is installed. Not only are a lot of sites now hard to read because of the mess that the Yahoo font around size 10 is, but its just flat out annoying to read that crazy font.

Also the groups on the right in address book are garbled (the text looks out of place/corrupt ). The contacts look fine, it's just a couple group names, not all.
What i've tried: There are no duplicates in my font book. I repaired permissions. I've tried the demo of fontdoctor 7.6 but it says no errors, everything passed.
I'm completely stuck - anyone else have this problem?

Yesterday, I downloaded around 1000 new fonts and installed them, all fine yesterday, but today, Safari, Firefox and Chrome are all using really whacky fonts from those that I downloaded. It happens in google and some webpages, but it's really annoying. I've been through all the preferences, defaults, fontbook (and deleted all the ones with major errors) and I deleted the font that it was using, until it chose another one, trying to fix it but with no luck
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got some internet going again after having moved. I've had my new Octopus for a few weeks tho. So much to my surprise, I open up my gmail account and it's practically unintelligible. Some weird cartoon like font is my default font. As far as I can tell, all the default fonts are activated and all the settings point to the activated fonts, but this is driving me absolutely F__KING bonkers. Has anyone ever had this problem? Now to be fair, I did install some fonts from a semi questionable font disk a week or two ago, so maybe some rogue font has hijacked my web fonts.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my first MBP , 15inch AG, on Tuesday. Nice enough machine, getting used to the idiosyncrasies of OS X (like the useless Finder), but fair enough. There is one complete mess up on Apple�s part though: There are no | [ ] { } symbols on the keyboard. I have to use Google to find out how to type on a keyboard that's frigging in front of me! Ok, there's no PgDn and Home keys either, which is annoying (was the shortcut Fn + Arrow, Ctrl + Arrow, alt + Arrow or cmd + Arrow ?!? - I though Macs were supposed to be easy to use) I really wish Apple would fix this - until then I guess I@ll have Letraset it. and the @ and ' are swapped compared to most laptops
View 18 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to type my password and hit enter/return I get an alert sound then nothing. Nothing about wrong password. Even more rare all of a sudden all I can type are symbols so I'm assuming this is what happens when I try to type my password to wake from sleep. I have to do a hard reboot before I can type in my password. I've re-installed Snow Leopard and updates. Tried deleting some preferences.
It's still happening. Anybody got any ideas? I've searching for similar problems. Can't even find a command that changes the entire keyboard layout to symbols only. I'm running 10.6.4 on a Macbook Pro.
On some of my music list I have a line through the icloud symbol. i cannot share these particular songs with other linkied devices.
