I was just wondering if there's any way of changing the size of my Bootcamp partition(Windows 7) to be larger without any backing up any data or any programs? If not, then whats the easiest way? I want to increase the size of my Windows because it was mainly for school, but my Mac side sucks at playing games while on Bootcamp(Windows 7)
View 2 RepliesFor my MacBook Pro with 320Gb hdd, I chose to do the bootcamp partition for 32Gb and not divide half for it, however, when I now realized that my disk space for bootcamp has used up more than 17Gb, and now it doesn't even have enough disk space for a single game. I do not want to sacrifice half of the disk space for windows, how am I going to deal with this problem as it only allows me to choose between 32Gb and divide equally? Any better solution beside repartitioning again

View 14 Replies View RelatedI realize there's lots of info on this, including a guide on this site. I want to shrink my bootcamp partition and put it back to my Mackintosh HD partition. I've read through everything, and ended up using Disk Management in Vista to shrink the volume. I then booted OSX and used Disk Utility to allocate the free space to the Mac partition.
It seems to have worked, but there are size inconsistencies when looking at the disk size and space available in Disk Utility, Get Info, and Disk Management in Windows. Some of them show the new numbers, some show the old numbers. Additionally, when I ran Time Machine it backed up the entire HD again instead of just an incremental backup.
I'm using a macbook pro (late 2013 with mavericks-10.9.4 ). I installed windows using bootcamp but didn't estimate the storage I required correctly. So now I don't have enough storage in the bootcamp hard drive.
How can I increase the Partition size between windows and mac without having to delete or re-install windows?

I have just recently deleted my Bootcamp partition in Disk Utilities, and now im trying to increase the partition size of my Macintosh HD drive. When i go to the partition map and try to increase the size. The same error always appears. View 2 Replies View RelatedI changed my partition size firstly from (full disk size) about 160GB to 80GBs in order to create a new one which was another 80GBs after that I decided to just leave this 160GB and one partition, so I did what I decided, but now there is a problem. I did everything under Installation CD and than it shows in Disk Tool that the partition is 160GB on diagrams but under it it shows: total size 80GB... and the same is when I launching Snow Leopard. I'm clicking Macintosh HD and informations than it shows total size: 80GB, I tried to change again partition sizes but it does nothing, I cannot do anything under Mac OS and bootable installation disc. I'm completely stuck it shows, always and always that "Spliting in to partitions finished due an error - could not modficate partition's map".

the WinClone came from a 500GB internal drive and ive gotten winclone images to restore to a MBP before but not sure why its giving me this error code, anyway to restore the image to the new partition (which was created with Bootcamp) as i no longer have access to the old machine it was running on.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 13" MBP with a 250 gb hd, I partitioned the HD 25gb for Windows XP shortly after I bought it. I was unable to install my copy of windows, contacted apple after exhaustive search as to why... Long story short, I now have Vista to install... When I went back to Boot Camp Assistant; partition was gone. Researched... ran disk utility, repaired and erased partition. Bootcamp HD now shows up in desktop, still not in bootcamp assistant. Since I am unable to locate in assistant; would there be any problems with just installing Vista off the install disk by restarting? Any ideas what to do if this is not a good idea (short of restoring)?

Used migration assistant to move my Blackbook apps and settings to the Air using a Time Machine backup from my Time Capsule - wirelessly. Two hours later (not terrible) and I'm using my Air with all my apps and setting - fantastic.
Question: My Blackbook also has a Bootcamp partition running Windows - is there a way to take that image and migrate it to my MB Air? I'd rather not have to purchase the Superdrive and re-install/setup the Windows OS on my Air....

I have 120GB unused HDD space atm so could i.. back up my 80GB partition to a DMG with disk utility then delete the old partition making the whole 200GB unallocated space... then use the bootcamp utility to re occupy the space then use disk utilities restore option to restore the image of the 80GB to the new 200GB partition... would this work? if not has anyone got any other methods to use with 10.6.4 SL and Win7?
Bought an OEM version to use with bootcamp. Everything works fine up to the point where it is supposed to let me format the partition that bootcamp created. The XP installation just skips right from when I select the C:yatta-yatta/bootcamp partition and starts installing. So obviously the partition is not bootable... Does anyone know if this is because the OEM version of the OS or something else. I tried to reduce the size of the partition because I read a thread about FAT32 not playing well with disc sizes greater than 32Gb. Still didn't work...

I was greeted with the error, "BootCamp SetUp assistant failed to yada yada yada, please backup and reformat your harddrive."

View 7 Replies View Relatedi have made a recovery FireWire hard drive. i have 3 partitions, two 30gbs both to boot leopard and tiger, and one 15gb that i was going to use for time machine but i decided that i want to make that leopard and tiger installs. anyways disk utility keeps telling me that the hard drive must be formatted in HFS+ with journaling enabled to support resizing. the entire drive is formatted that way! i would really love not to have to repartition the entire drive, as i have both leopard and tiger already installed.

View 21 Replies View RelatedI'm prepping to install Vista over XP (my friend says I'm downgrading, which I probably am). As I noted in an earlier post, I need to give more space to my Windows partition. Does this sequence look OK to you guys?
1. Boot from Mac OS X Install DVD. Check "Macintosh HD" and "NO NAME" for errors; fix if needed.
2. Defragment "Macintosh HD" and "NO NAME".
3. Use GParted or iPartition (on LiveCDs) to see how much space is left between the two partitions.
4. Boot in to Mac OS X on "Macintosh HD". Use diskutil to shrink "Macintosh HD".
5. Boot from GParted LiveCD. Use GParted to move and expand "NO NAME", remembering the buffer between partitions as determined in step 3.
6. Boot from Mac OS X Install DVD. Check "Macintosh HD" and "NO NAME" for errors; fix if needed.
7. Install Vista and pray I don't run out of space...
