My sound doesn't work when streaming radio, but only for radio! I usually listen to BBC Radio 1 via their homepage, but suddenly yesterday, the sound disappeared. I tried various other radio streams and they all failed too. All other sound output, ie. youtube, Itunes, DVD player, online games etc work fine.
Would anybody know what's going on?

hopefully this is the right place to ask this. my audio streaming doesnt work with firefox 3 but it works with safari on my macbook pro running 10.4.11. firefox 3 will stream video but not audio and it still downloads everything correctly. it was working perfect for a while and then all of the sudden boom no audio streaming. let me give you all a link to a zshare audio file so you can get an idea whats going on

I can't get radio streaming from all categories on iTunes. I keep getting the dialogue box that says, "An error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your Internet connection, or try again later." I've tried rebooting the computer.

I enter this link in the "open stream" dialogue box, but the stream doesn't play despite the link appearing in my iTunes music list, along with other url's that do work in iTunes. Is there a way to make this work? I assume the iHeart radio link isn't compatible, but the other link?

I'd been using iTunes for streaming radio happily until the last few days, when the streams started rebuffering every few seconds, making them practically unplayable.
I have a recent iMac, 4GB of RAM and a broadband connection.
I am a big rugby fan and like to listen to my team (tigers) play when there not on TV. However this requires real player. Having had a bad experience with this program in the past I am reluctant to install it again. Is there there any plug in I can get for os x and vista so I can listen to the radio without installing real player?

I use a very old G4 500 MHz powermac to listen to iTunes streaming internet radio, but more and more stations are switching to AAC streams, which the old 10.3 compatible version of iTunes doesn't support and won't play them. The current version of itunes' minimum system requirements is a 1 Ghz G4, so I can't use the current version of iTunes. If I upgrade this machine to OS 10.4, will I be able to install a version of iTunes that plays AAC radio streams?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIt seems to me that Quicktime is losing out, big time, versus Flash for video streaming. Even the venerable BBC is proposing to use Flash for all its services for internet TV and most streamed audio is on Real Player.
So what do you all think Apple needs to do to get Quicktime back in the mainstream as a leading platform for DRM (of necessity) protected TV & Video?

I've tried just about every configuration option I can find, but although the stream plays (RealAudio), VLC fails to capture it.
BTW - the VLC site says that if VLC can play it, it can capture. It's a shame it doesn't go on to say how (well, other than via come pretty hair-raising command line stuff that I really don't think applies to what I'm trying to get).
Google search results in many PC programs to record streaming audio. Are there any programs for Panther-OS X that do this?

I've got an old eMac in my den and I'd like to stream videos to the TV ( Toshiba 20" CRT ) in my living room.
I purchased the Apple video adapter, 24 feet of s-video cable and 20 feet of rca ( left & right ) cable with an adapter on one end to fit into the headphone jack on the computer. I hooked it up and there's no picture or sound on the tv when I stream a video.
Also, the icons on my desktop get larger once I plug the video adapter into the eMac.
I'm turning the TV to a Video section.
I have just set up my new iBook with (wireless) internet and am playing around with the widgets, including the BBC radio one. However this isn't working, the display appears to have two blue boxes with question marks on them, and there is no sound. What should I do?
View 10 Replies View Related I just recently got my new Imac and am trying to nail down what my options are for streaming music throughout my apt.
The ideal setup for me would be to have my mac run my music/audio from the bedroom and have airport express stream the audio to a Tivoli model 2 (it only has one aux input) in the living room. If I just use itunes it should be a pretty simple setup, but I have one dilemma.
I listen to a lot of Sirius radio and would like to stream Sirius internet radio to the same speakers. Is this possible with airport xpress?? If not what are some of my other options? If possible I want to avoid buying another receiver and using its fm xmiter, this would probably work fine due to the close proximity to the speakers but not a very ideal set-up.
Any advice/experience anyone has to share would be great, also if there are any issue with airtunes I should know.

- Volume is at max
- System Prefs>Sound>External Speakers>Volume Max>Not Muted
- No red light coming from the headphone jack
- Tried inserting and removing headphones, no sound in speakers or headphones
- Restarted computer while holding down ⌘ + OPT + P + R , no sound made
- A very very faint feedback, like when you plug an electric guitar in to an amp, can be heard when the first sound (the mac start up chime) is supposed to play on restart
- USB headphones work
After a recent update, many video players have not been working. This goes for live streaming flash players and others such as on nba.tv.
Some other video players give me error code VE_FMS_CONNECT_FAILED...

I just finished installing iATKOS v7 (10.5.7) and then installed the software update, all with success. (So now my system is 10.5.8). The thing is, my audio doesn't seem to be working. I don't know what kind of audio driver I have. I even went to System Profiler but it tells me I have no built-in audio, and neither does System Preferences. Does anyone know a way to detect what kind of sound driver you're using, so that I can find the drivers/kext for it? If not, any Terminal commands or any other ways I can get this to be fixed?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm at home, I usually use an E-MU 0404 USB audio interface to channel sounds from my MBP. The problem is that every time I turn on the interface, the sound is distorted and corrupt. It is not a problem with the hardware; my monitors and interface work properly. The only workaround is to restart the computer with the interface connected and on, which clears up the sound. However, this is very inconvenient to do every time and I think that it's most likely due to a sound driver issue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen downloading avi files quicktime is selected and although there is video there is no audio. I've downloaded every version of VLC but the computer doesn't seem to recognise it - even when hitting on the vlc cone icon the top menu bar doesn't alter i.e go from finder to VLC. I've never had a problem with vlc before however my mac recently crashed and am currently operating out of the root system administrator so don't know if I'm missing some plug in that I might have had before.
