I just downloaded an audio plugin and it said that I need to drag it into ~/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL to install it, but there isn't a HAL folder there. How do I make it appear?
View 3 RepliesI just noticed that my Library folder is missing from my home folder. I have the one on my hard drive but not in the home folder. I did a search for it and cannot find it. I went into Time Machine and found it way back in November of 2011....it did not show up after that. It was about that time when I installed Lion...maybe in that process I lost it from my home folder. If I can't find the missing one....and I can't.....should I restore the old one in Time Machine? I started to do that but then I got the question about do I want to have it REPLACE the old one (I don't know where the old one is to replace), do I want to save BOTH files, or do I just want to leave the old one. I would leave the old one if I knew where it was but I don't. What should I do.....should I check 'replace the old one?" Then the library folder will be one from 2011. Does that matter? I don't want to do the wrong thing.Â

I recently cancelled my iTunes match subscription. When I did, i lost approximately 2,000 songs from my library, however i found them in the iTunes folder. For some reason iTunes no longer sees the songs. How can i get the lost songs back into iTunes? I don't know exactly which songs were lost and my total library is over 13,000 songs.Â

I opened up fcpx and out of nowhere one of the projects I was working on is missing and there is an explanation point next to the event name. But when I go into the actual library folder inside finder I can see the project name in there. I also see inside fcpx at the bottom is a "no data (1)" portion where the media or projects go.

Since I upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard, Mail has had glitches. I fixed one; the other remains: I can't see Word attachments in emails. The only hint is the message "Missing Plug-in". If I show the entire header, Mail provides buttons to Quickview the document or save it. The previous problem was that Mail wouldn't start up (kept quitting while doing the initial database migration) because I'd left in MailActOn as a plugin. So I removed plugins and the contents of ~/Library/Mail/Bundles. Now Mail works except for this.

I'm currently having is with the Quicktime 7.7.1 plugin for Firefox. I use Firefox 12, running on OS Lion, and this plugin has some sound issue with a particular site I like to visit. When playing audio midis, it sounds tinny and plunky / compressed.I did not have this problem before Lion, but the plugin does work fine on other sites. I tried to delete the Quicktime app. thinking it somehow became corrupted, but I may be wrong. I had my data transferred from my old mac to the new one I have now. I don't know if that could have affected the QT plugin somehow or what.

I was recently on the alltel website trying to preview ringbacks for my phone and when I try to listen to the audio, a little box pops up saying that it "has content of MIME type �application/x-mplayer2�. Because you don�t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can�t be displayed."
I downloaded the flip4mac WMV to see if that would help and there's still no change. I then went into system preferences, under quicktime and in the advanced setting I made sure that streaming, video, audio, MPEG, MP3, and miscellaneous were all checked and enabled (this being under MIME settings). Still I'm not able to preview the ringback audio on alltel's website. Is there something else that I may not be doing right?
Not totally clear on how objects are installed in OS X. I'm trying to download SIMBL so I can then get mouse gestures for Safari. I've downloaded and installed SIMBL and I've downloaded SafariGestures. SafariGestures comes in the form of a .bundle and the readme says I need to move the .bundle into my SIMBL plugin folder. Where would I find the SIMBL plugin folder? The readme suggests it should be /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins but I can't see it.

I have erased all hard disk and would like to copy everything back to Macintosh. Then the problem is when I tried to copy old Library folder to Macintosh HD user folder, it is saying I need to input password to continue, then I entered password and it still says i don't have permission.

I have a hard drive on my 2008 MacPro that's problematic and so I bought a new drive and installed Mavericks on it and am booting just fine on the new drive. There is however, one folder in the Library/Preferences folder that I need to copy over to the new drive. All the tricks for accessing the Library folder work great on the start up drive, but I can't seem to access the Library folder on the old drive (both drives in the MacPro as it has 4 drive bays), even though the drive will mount. How can I see that Library folder on the old drive? Note while I can mount the old drive, I can't boot to it.Â

It appears that the Library folder that is in the Home Folder (e.g./Users/Home/Liberary)has been made invisible in OS 10.7.x. However I have seen it because after converting samples Logic showed me the folder and its contents. I would very much like to move the samples from their present location in this folder on the startup disk to the EXS 24 samples folder on the external RAID array that is dedicated to this purpose - - but I don't know how to make the Library folder visible.

Recently I noticed that ALL of the audio from an entire folder of .mov files has disappeared. Video playback is fine. I tried to export from Quicktime to experiemtn but it suggests that the file is corrupt and can't be exported...but all of them? Files are being kept on external drive. Could Lion be causing this somehow?

I'm trying to take an event with me mobile when I disconnect from my RAID. Currently all the original media is located outside of my library on an external drive. My library is located on my Internal HD.Â
I have deleted generated event files, then set the new media location to my Internal HD, and then prompted FCP to generate proxies. When I disconnect and switch to proxy view, I have all my video but no audio. When I switch to proxy when connected to my RAID, the audio is there. I have repeated the process only to see that no audio clips are present in the media management portion of the background renders window when generating proxies. Also, when I am disconnected from my RAID and switch to proxy, no missing media icons appear, only audio clips with no waveforms.Â

Using 7toX for Final Cut Pro ... two issues:Â
1. I export and XML from FCP 7. I use 7toX to convert it and import it into FCP X. Does a great job. But I notice that 'some' of the clips on a given timeline (project) are missing their audio. If I 'Find in Browser' and 'replace' the clip on the timeline with the clip from the Browser I get my audio. It's a bit of a laborious process. So the FCP 7 to FCP X is working fine in terms of the actual clips themselves, but the 'sequence' or 'project' being translated over, the audio is missing on random clips.Â
Maybe it's the clips that I had a slight sound adjustment on, I'm checking. But still, it would be nice to know how to export the XML properly so as not to have issues.Â
2. I have the audio dipping behind the voice-over in the original FCP 7 sequence. When I import the sequence into FCP X I can still HEAR the dip, but I can't see any keyframes to adjust. I'm wondering what the protocol is here ..
After adding the voiceover to a 50-minute Keynote presentation, I exported it to QuickTime, but.......the audio is missing from the final product.
In searching online, I ran a MacWorld forum that suggested tweaking the Inspector > Document setting to �Automatically play upon open.� As soon as I toggled that, everything fell apart-�the slides went to a fast bang-bang-bang transition rather than follow the true speed I�d manually used to match the voice over portion. (Thankfully, I worked from a copy of the original presentation, so all is not lost.)
Dumped the copy, then made a second copy from the �correct� original in Keynote. Next, I followed a second suggestion to adjust the Export to > Quicktime settings, including �Set to fixed timing� with a zero value in each of the two fields, but Keynote won�t allow zero values in either one.
I�m now trying to export to iDVD as I type this, but am holding out little hope, feeling I�ve missed something.....
It took three passes to get the voice over perfect for this-�between the five hours of build out, three hours of recording time, and two 2+ hour attempts at saving to QuickTime, I�m at my wits end. Dumping the voice over to record a fourth time makes me want to sob, given how dead-on-right the Keynote audio is now.
Anyone have a secret trick for exporting this to QuickTime so the audio stays put and in sync as originally intended?
I have encountered a problem when downloading movie clips from my Canon Legria FS200 camcorder. I have only recently started importing clips from my camcorder, I was until recently a PC user.The first time I imported clips everything was fine, both video and audio together were imported without any issues.I have since tried on 4 separate times importing clips since and the video is fine but the audio is missing, I have not changed anything on the camcorder or in the iMovie app.

My total Itunes library contains about 55 Gb according to Itunes. However when checking in the finder, my Itunes folder is about 74 Gb. is this normal? or did I not import everything properly? however, each song I randomly check is in my music folder as in Itunes. Where are those 19 gb's?
View 9 Replies View RelatedA week ago I had to format my HD and reinstall Leopard last week. When I restored from my external HD afterward, I just clicked and dragged back the files and folders that I wanted instead of completely restoring the drive. I put Garageband back in my Apps folder. It didn't work when I opened it (something about an instrument library being invalid, what ever.). So I reinstalled iLife 09 from the disc, and now Garageband opens properly.
The problem is that there are no (0) instruments in the library now, nor any loops. I know that normally there's an update available from Software Update that's about 1.1gb and includes all of the instruments and loops, but that update isn't appearing in the list. Anyone know what I can do? If someone can point me to a download/Rapidshare/torrent/Anything of that update, or even a functional instrument library?
I recently re-install osx 10.5 on my MacBook. When installing, I selected the backup option. I can find all my files, except my photos from iphoto. Fair sure I've searched all folders, still cant find.

iTunes keeps telling me it can't find around 150 songs and I have to manually point it to each folder - it offers to use location to find other missing tracks but that only works for songs in the same album folder, not other artists/albums. Is there something I can do to find all songs at once?

I just moved my iTunes library from my laptop to my desktop. When I started itunes I noticed my applications had the name of the application but was missing the icon, i.e. showed an application icon and labeled below it was Pandora but was missing the Pandora icon. My music and movies were just fine. I right clicked on the file and selected get info. it returned "could not find original". I tried to sync and it deleted the applications from my iTouch. I see the application's icon when I bring up iTunes on my laptop.
