I just got my new MBP and I ve installed aperture on it and when I open it it says: "this version of aperture wont work on this version of OS" I ve bought it a year ago for like $60 from my apple campus store and its the academic version.

I haven't been able to get Aperture 3 to work with any GPS log file. And I mean anything. Not CSV, KMZ, NMEA or GPX files. Either they are not read at all, or they are read halfway and crash the program. I'm using a Columbus V-900 which produces weird CSV files, but seem to export fine using TimeAlbum to basically any format I want. Maybe a software update soon to make this feature work better?

Does anyone know how to synch Aperture libraries. That is have the same aperture libraries on an iMac and MacBook. My Aperture on the macbook is 1.5 and the machine is running 10.4.11 and the iMac 24" is running 10.6 with Aperture 2. I originally exported the library from the macbook and inserted into the library folder of the iMac. This library was then upgraded automatically to be compatible with Aperture 2. But now... how can I synch from one to the other, and vice-versa. Or am I expecting too much?

However it will not import as Aperture says I am running an iPhoto earlier than 7.1.5

After running the latest release of updates today (ilife, raw camera, etc.) Aperture 2.2.1 (whatever the latest release) no longer sees all of my photos - about half of my projects are missing from the Aperture program itself, however they are still in the library as I can get to them in finder.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded the trials of Aperture and Lightroom and have them both installed. I'm playing around with them trying to figure out which one will be best for me. I'm not a pro photographer or anything, but I don't like iPhoto because of the way it deals with events. I like to have hierarchies for my picture folders but apparently iPhoto will only allow you to have one level of events.
So, I understand that Aperture has you choose between the masters being managed in the Aperture library file or have them be referenced on disk. My main concern is that I want to be able to pull all of my master files out of Aperture and preserve my old folder hierarchy structure. Every time I try to export files (even from multiple folders), Aperture exports them all into one huge folder rather than preserving the folder structure. Is there any way to do this?
I use iPhoto to import CR2 files from an EOS. So far, everything worked great and all my current raw-photos in the iPhoto library are presented without problems. After installing Photoshop CS4, nothing worked, neither in Preview.app nor in iPhoto.app or Aperture.app, they don't support opening raw-files anymore. Ok, IPhoto shows the former imported ones but when I try to import new photos from Cam or Disk, there is the following message: "The following file could not be imported. (The file is in an unrecognized format.)". I even reinstalled iPhoto and Aperture, that maybe the raw driver are refreshed or settings corrected, but nothing happened.

So I was wondering if I could just drag the single projects from my Aperture 2 library into a new Aperture 3 library.
Would this do all of the same upgrades necessary as the normal update?

Currently, I use iPhoto for all my photos, and have a sync with my iPhone.
I would like to know how you use Aperture and iPhoto on the same computer.
- should I put everything on Aperture, what would I lose if I do that ?
- should I keep iPhoto for my casual pictures (taken with my Panasonic FX-55), and Aperture for the photos taken with my DSLR camera ?
- if I import the iPhoto pics into Aperture, what should I copy them all on Aperture, should I just use the iPhoto database, or should I delete the iPhoto database after I import everything on Aperture ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of upgrading from OSX 10.6.8 to OSX 10.9.3 and from Aperture 3.2.3 to 3.5.1 (using managed library on an external drive) on an iMac and MacBook Pro. I have two Aperture vaults on separate portable USB drives. The first time I run the new Aperture it will require updating file formats. My question is what do I do about updating the vaults after Aperture has updated the library? When I first update the current vaults in 3.5.1 will it also update the vaults to the 3.5.1 formats or will I have to create new vaults for 3.5.1?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just started using Aperture and I am befuddled. I'm working in a library that was originally created by iPhoto but was exported by Aperture, in case that's relevant. What I'm seeing is that every time I try to do a "pick" in a stack, the selection gets reset. It doesn't matter whether I use the keyboard shortcut or the menu. The browser scrolls back to the beginning of my library and suddenly the first four images are selected. Always.
The same weird thing happens if I have a search filter applied. I hit clear on the search filter and suddenly the selection is reset.

My Aperure (version 3.2.2.) can't display certain pictures from the Library. I can see from these "pictures" only their information, rating, adjustments, but not the photo itself. Their is a message saying that the picture was edited with a previous version of Aperture RAW version. BUT the older photos are okay in my Library.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have thumbnails but when double clicked the picture is black. I have rebuilt Aperture every way possible. This happened, and has happened in the past since upgrading to mavericks. I have had nothing but problems since doing so. I get a message that the application memory is full and I have to force quit Aperture. I used exactly the same editing in Mountain Lion and never once had this problem.

I have tried to create a vault on an external drive, and then open it from Aperture on my new mac, but nothing happens when I open the vault - a new library is available, but no fotos/videos.
Then I have tried to export some on my projects as a new library, and this works. I can open the fotos, but a lot of fotos/videos now have a small yellow triangle in the right corner. The videos that have this triangle will not play in Aperture, whereas the videos without this triangle are ok.
