When iCloud first arrived, I guess I signed up for it using my regular e-mail address. This e-mail address is at my own personal domain. I've had MobileMe and just got rid of it, essentially transferring it over to iCloud. So I now have two iCloud accounts, one set up for my personal e-mail, one with my old MobileMe stuff including my Calendar, Contacts, and Me.com E-mail (which I do use sometimes). What to do? I don't want 2, as it will get so confusing. Any way to combine? Can I get rid of the iCloud account set up to my personal domain email? Also, what about my iTunes Store account, which is set up with personal domin email?Â

My personal domain is [URL]- it was bought through Easily [URL] and is still managed by them. I transferred the hosting to MobileMe, however, by creating the relevant CNAME entry, so in my DNS management area for this domain over at Easily the entries look as follows [URL] There are two name servers set up : [URL] The personal domain is set up in MobileMe fine, and I can create sites in iWeb and upload them with no issues. My second domain is [URL] which I bought through Easily, and which is simply set to use framed web forwarding to redirect to [URL] - that's one of the sites that I've created in iWeb and is hosted by MobileMe. When I visit [URL]I get no issues whatsoever - the masked forwarding works fine, so the address bar always reads [URL] no matter which page I'm on. However I've been told by a couple of people that they don't get transferred to it - instead they get not a MobileMe error page, but an Easily error page. it's as though the web forwarding works for some visitors but not for others, but I'm not sure why. Anyone got any thoughts? Is it happening for anyone else?

I have just bought a personal domain through godaddy - [URL]- to use with my almost complete mobileme site. With Safari everything seems to be fine - type in the domain with or without the 'www' and you arrive at the right place. But with every other browser I've tried (Chrome, Firefox, Flock and Camino) only [URL] version works. Enter the url without the www and you end up at [URL] could someone let me know what I've done wrong? I've tried clearing the cache in all the browsers but that's had no effect.

I wrote an email to the tech people on my domain service provider, Network Solutions, because I've yet to see my website load properly. I was directed to use web forwarding, and I set that up over the weekend. However, though I am hosted through MobileMe, my personal domain link takes me to a blank page. There had been an under construction page. if I am using web forwarding, should I remove the personal domain from my Mobile Me preferences? Could that be the reason it won't work?

I am creating my website. I purchased a domain name from godaddy. Then I set up a MobileMe account to host using iWeb. But I am having trouble forwarding my domain name to my MobileMe account. Also from my MobileMe account the test connection failed when I try to publish it to my domain name.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt appears there is a new Time Machine feature that isn't getting a lot of attention just yet. From Apple:
Access your drive over the Internet.
Say youre traveling and you need a file on your Time Capsule back at home. If youre a MobileMe member using a Mac with Mac OS X Leopard, no problem. You can now access all the files on your Time Capsule drive over the Internet. Simply register your Time Capsule with your MobileMe account, and its drive appears in the Finder sidebar of your Mac just like any other attached drive. Its like having your own personal file server wherever you go.
I wasn't able to find any reference to this new feature in the updated Time Capsule Setup Guide.
I hope this feature is compatible with the previous generation Time Machine via update.
UPDATE 1
This feature is also supported by the new AirPort Extreme. From Apple:
Access your drive over the Internet.
Say youre traveling and you need a file on the hard drive connected to your AirPort Extreme back at home. If youre a MobileMe member using Mac OS X Leopard, no problem. You can now access all the files on your shared drive over the Internet. Simply register your AirPort Extreme with your MobileMe account, and your drive appears in your Finder sidebar just like any other attached drive. Its like having your own personal file server wherever you go.
UPDATE 2
I found instructions for setting up Back to My Mac on an AirPort network in AirPort Utility 5.4.1 (See attached image.)
UPDATE 3
The following updates should also be available in Software Update:
AirPort Utility 5.4.1 for Mac OS X 10.4 or later
AirPort Utility 5.4.1 for Windows
AirPort Client Update 2009-001 for Mac OS X 10.5.6
About AirPort Client Update 2009-001 This update is recommended for all Intel-based Macintosh computers running Mac OS X 10.5.6.
It addresses issues with roaming and network selection in dual-band environments.
UPDATE 4
The Time Capsule and AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.4.1 is now available via the AirPort Utility application.

In preparation for the end of iDisk, I would like to delete all my documents. I have one file in the Documents folder that I am unable to delete. After moving the file to the trash, and confirming that I want to delete it, I get a message stating "The operation can't be completed because the item "personal.doc" is in use." How to delete this file? The format is a password protected Word document.

In preparation for leaving MobileMe, I was clearing out my iDisk. Im noticing there are some old sync files in the Library/Application Support/ that cant be deleted (Contacts, Bookmarks, etc.).Â
I get the error: "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."Â
I believe these might be old sync files from back in the .Mac days. Not a catastrophe by any stretch, but I'd like to be able to clear everything out before being completely disconnected from MobileMe if possible.
I would like to be able to delete emails without having the program automatically "read" the next mail in the queue. This used to be possible but the mail program has changed and now I can no longer figure out how to do this. Now, after I clean out my Inbox by deleting emails, I have to go back and "unread" selected mails so I can remember to go back to them. I realize I could flag everything of importance but I prefer to save flags for specific emails, not just ones that I haven't read yet.

I have been trying to edit some footage and was trying to import a non commercial dvd to i movie. I have researched the web and tried to follow these instructions but doesn't work. I have an macbook pro 13'' 09
1. Insert DVD.
2. Open Disk Utility.
3. Select the disk and then select "New Image". Save the disk image wherever is convenient, such as the desktop.
4. Once the disk image is written, open iMovie.
5. Mount the new disk image. A "Camera Detected, Scanning Contents" window will appear in iMovie, followed by an import window. You can now import the DVD contents and start editing away.
on setting up an OD master to accept kerberos from a AD domain and I can't get AFP to work.
What I've done:
1. Bind OD Master to AD
2. Destroyed the OD Kerberos realm
3. Ran sudo dsconfigad -enableSSO
When I log into a client that is bond to both AD and OD and try to access a SMB share on the AD side it works. When I try to access a SMB share on the OD master it work. When I try to access a AFP share on the OD Master it fails with the error " The user Authentication Method required by this server can't be found". Now I think this error is because I'm forcing Kerberos authentication, if I change AFP setting to any method authentication I get promoted with the AFP login window, I enter my AD account information and I'm able to mount the share.
Students cannot log in to AD system from Mac clients Clients were functioning okay. I discovered some file permission problems. Some student folders were receiving inherited permissions allowing other students access to other students' folders. I corrected the permissions. The student folders are located here: \SERVERstudentsgradyearstudent name. Students have transverse folder permissions to students and grad year. Students have modify permissions to their own folder. Windows clients work. Mac clients, where the student has logged in before, appear to be logging in, but then fail, returning to a login screen. If the student has never logged into that Mac before they are shook off. It appears that the permissions required for the Macs to write to the student folders are now incorrect. But I cannot find information on how permissions should be set for home folders residing on a Windows server. Also, I am fairly new at OS X administration (3 months) and have not discovered what log files to view to analyze the problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new 27" i7 iMac with OSX 10.6.4 and need to connect it to our work place network that runs a Windows 2003 Domain Controller etc. I've never touch an Apple/iMac before and I don't know much of anything about them. I'll tell you this much, I LIKE THIS MACHINE! WOW! I really like it! So I'm pretty sure I have it on the network... maybe. But the biggest problem I have is when I log on as the user (and it indicates "Network" under the user name), I can see the network resources, the user folder is available down on the Dock but when I make changes to the Desktop, Dock etc. they don't save when I log out and log back in. So I hope someone here can help point me in the right direction. I have done a lot of Google and other forum search but I'm not really finding my answer.
