Applications :: Video Chatting With QQ Users On Mac
Jun 29, 2010
I recently got this new job where I have to video chat with clients living in China. The company wants me to use the Chinese QQ chat client; however, for macs, you can't video chat. Does anybody know of a chat client I can use on the mac (windows messenger?) that will let me video chat with somebody using QQ? I'm afraid if I don't solve this problem, I'll be out of a job. Note: I do not have windows installed on this computer, nor do I really want to splurge the money to get it since this is a low-paying job.
I am having trouble video-chatting with iChat. I've asked for help here before and i was told to but a larger RAM so i bought a 2gig RAM. Immediately following the purchase video chatting worked very well; however, recently it has been giving me trouble. Whenever i try to video chat with somebody (mainly my brother who has the same computer, same RAM, and better bandwidth) the program tells me either that i don't have sufficient bandwidth or that my brother didn't respond to the invitation when i know for a fact that he did respond. Sometimes iChat tells me that my computer doesn't support video conferencing even though the camera works very well. The only thing that has changed since the last time that video chat worked is the room that i am in at college; the bandwidth should be exactly the same as when video chatting did work. The RAM is 2BG 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and my brother has the same kind. We both have Mac OS X 10.5.5.
I just noticed that my ichat sound when I am in a video chat has disappeared. Its been missing for like 4 days during video chatting. If I am iming someone I don't get an sound alert to know they have sent me a message I get the number but I don't get the popping sound that you get when your iming and also in video chat and it all of a sudden stopped working. Its not the regular sound when iming its like a "pop".
All the sudden today my ichat video chatting doesn't work just now. It only shows up with the audio chat. What do I do? Here's what it looks like, when I got to settings the green light turns on but no video.
I cant hear or see the other people when video chatting with skype, facebook video, messenger etc. it was working fine until it just stopped. I just moved house but have the same provider and still on the same account.
I am so used to using my MBA with no noise at all. Mostly my fan is around 2000 rpm.. MBA is very quiet. However when I do video chat in skype. Fan goes as high as 5500 rpm...and I hear the fan noise. Is there anyway to video chat without the fan noise?
I am currently am MBA student and must create projects using power point/ keynote, very often. Many of the power points/ keynotes created by students are informative but lack the ability to hold an audience’s attention (boring). Since I have this wonderful Macbook pro, I would like to create a dynamic keynote presentation which would include clips of audio and video files (I already know about converting keynote to power point). The only problem is, the videos I want to use in the keynote presentation are not able to be manipulated in iMovie (due to their format), and if they where able to be manipulated in iMovie, I’m not sure that PC users would be able to properly view them.
What video format (including embedded audio) is able to be viewed and heard by both OSX Lion users and Windows users? If this is possible, can anyone suggest a safe application that I can purchase from the apple app store that will allow me to convert video files (including embedded audio) so that it can be viewed by both Lion and PC users? Preferably one that does not need access to the internet in order to convert the files ( I’m on the go allot and use an air card for internet access), but I will take it if this is the best option. If the app store does not have this type of application, is there a place that I can download a safe one?
i have a small business that requires me to communicate frequently with clients in other markets. i would like to use iChat on the AIM network to video conference with these clients. i was hoping to somehow get my wacom taboo tablet set up as well, so i could somehow draw figures and have them appear either real time or in a drag-and-drop fashion to my clients.
thus far, video conferencing works superbly but only with mac users.
video conferencing has been almost impossible with clients using pc's. i often get one of three error messages: either ichat says the client denied my request to video conference (despite their accepting the request), the request times out, or it says an unknown error occured and it asks me to report it to mapple.
in regards to the wacom taboo tablet, i have been using goggle docs as a work around of sorts, where i share permissions to a doc with my client, draw my figures in that document, and the doc refreshes every 3-5 seconds on the client end.
my set up is a macbook air revB/1.86/ssd, 24" cinema display, and a time capsule as my router (i also have a linksys i can switch to if necessary)
1) i have tried skype, and the quality was just terrible. i desperately need a fix to this yesterday, and welcome any advice.
2) any thoughts on a better way to display my tablet-drawn figures real time?
Does anyone know of a program to video conference with three or more users (Mac and Windows). I tried skype but I can only figure out how to do audio, and I couldn't get ichat/aol to work either.
I have a folder with vdeos on my desktop. I want to share this across users so that they can access it on their account. How can I do this? I had tried creating an alias and putting it in my public folder but that did not work.
Today when we started trying to add users to our server (we use it only for afp access at this time), we noticed that new users belonging to a group "storage" were unable to login from client machines via afp (clients both 10.7.2 and 10.6.8).
When we tried editing the users accounts to change which groups they belonged to, it would appear in workgroup (and server preferences) that the changes would take but there was still no access.
As a test case, we modified an existing user who had no issues logging in to belong to a diffenent group and have different sharepoint access. The changes looked good in workgroup and server prefs, but when the user logged in, he was only able to acces his old sharepoint and not the new one (and since his permissions to the old were removed, he shouldn't have access to that sharepoint).
Also, for some reason users cannot be deleted within workgroup manager any more. The login used was the diradmin account.
It's my first posting after reading MacRumors every day for last tow years. I bought a new Uni MacBook 2.0 three weeks ago replacing year old white MB. I love it and all but I'm not happy with the battery life. I'd be really lucky to get 3 hours from only surfing the net and chatting no iTunes or movies. My old white MB lasted much longer than that.
I own a Sony Cyber-shot camera, and a 24 inch IMAC computer. I took a short video clip and downloaded it to Iphoto (no problem doing that). I then downloaded the clip to a 4 gpb flash drive, as an mp4 video. My problem is that my friends Microsoft based PC can't play it.
I switched from Ubuntu to Mac OS X 10.9.4 today at work. I'm already using Mac OS X on my private MacBook since two years now. We're using Cisco Jabber at work and I remember the Messages App to also support the XMPP protocol. So I added a new account, entered my credentials, the Jabber server and its port. All worked fine at first. Chatting with people using clients other than the original Cisco Jabber (either for Windows or for Mac) worked fine. But every message I'm receiving from someone using Cisco Jabber starts with an underscored "Subject" text. I don't think this is sent from Cisco Jabber as part of the text because I did not have such problems with receiving messages using Pidgin in 12 months.
So: Is there a way to turn this off or is it really sent by Cisco Jabber and Pidgin simply ignored it all the time?
Can anyone tell me how to set up iTunes on my computer so that when different users each log onto the computer under their own accounts, they can both access the same iTunes account/folder?
I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but I'm very new to the Mac world.
I just installed Office '08, and noticed that all the various programs within it, such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc, are all now in my dock, yet if my wife or daughter log into their account, it is not there, so they must go in through the "applications" and click on "office" then click whichever program they want. I'm not sure why it does not come up on their dock, but it is there on mine. If I drag the program onto their dock, will it stay there, and, will it affect anything else?
I've been having some connection issues with Skype, and would like to know if its possible to use iChat to do audio&video chats with Windows users? I know iChat supports AIM, so I assume these users would need to install AIM to make this happen.
If such a setup works, is it possible to conference with multiple users?
I've just created another user account on my mbp, and the problem I'm having is that there are certain applications of mine that the 2nd user doesn't want or need, however when I go onto that account and remove the application it also deletes it from my account?
Is this normal, and is there any way around this? So that I can pick and choose which applications exist on the 2nd account?
Basically I am fed up with powerpoint, I think its a horrible application, dont have the money or any other use for a MAC right now although I can forsee buying one as my next laptop.
My question is
Is there a keynote or similar application that I can use on my pc/windows vista instead of horrible powerpoint?
I have been trying to set up ITunes to share the library with another user on the same IMac. I have followed the details shown on Apple website but nothing is happening. Does any one have any ideas. I have copied the ITunes media file the public folder changed this in ITunes with preferences and advanced then done the same with the other user but it does not work.
we have recently purchased Microsoft Office for the Mac and installed it on my wife's macbook, replacing an old version. The reason was that the old copy used to block her use of it in university due to it saying that their were other users using it at the same time. So we installed it, waiting for it to ask for a product key but it didn't at any time...? Consequently now when my wife tries to use it in uni the same problem occurs.
We have product keys coming out of our butt from the original box but no way of entering them. I have tried to 'register online' with windows but the website simply isn't working.
My Mac has 2 user, me and my wife and each one has own iTunes library. How can I get some musics from her iTunes library e put into my iTunes library? Is there a way to share the musics?
I'm a Windows user, recently forced to use the Mac because of work. I bought a Mac mini.
Anywhoo, very basic question - do Mac users generally use anti-virus software?
I used Mac through most of the 90s (again, because of my job) and my workplace didn't use it then. I've also been using Linux for the past 10 years and have never used anti-virus software on it either, and never had any problems.
I have a proposal due for an english class, and I have to email it to my professor. I know he does not have a Mac, much less Pages, so will he be able to read my document that I created in Pages '09 on his PC? I know he has Office 2007, if that helps. Or do I have to save the file in some special format from within Pages?
