How can I find out if someone else is using my stolen Ipad2. I've had the find my ipad, but it must be disconected and I used the option to wipe everything off of it. But I thought there was a way to see if it is being used because of the serial number.

so i just recently updated my ipad to the newest version a while ago and it turns out to be a bad idea since i've lost all my files on my ipad ! so i connected it to my mac (which i don't sync it with), update it, and then at the end everything's gone and i had photos and files there that i never saved elsewhere.Â
now i know it's supposed to be in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ but all i see in there are files of which i can make no sense of (the filenames are just random letters and numbers and they don't have any file extensions; they just open up on TextEdit)Â
so if it's not there, should i just resign myself to my fate ? this is extremely disappointing as i've had extremely important photos in my ipad

I had to reset my iPad due to the home button issue (this by the way seems to be a hardware issue since it did not dissapear after the reset :-( )
Unfortunately iTunes created a new back-up of my iPad at the end of this reset procedure (i.e. it is a back-up of an empty ipad).
Now I would like to re-install and configure my iPad based on a back-up couple weeks ago.
If I open Time Machine, what do I need to do find and use this particular older iPad-back-up for reinstalling my ipad?Â

Alright, here goes my last two weeks. Two Sundays ago I was playing football with a couple friends. The game ended abruptly when I broke my leg and went to the hospital, but thats not the bad part. I was in the hospital for 6 hours and when I got home I found that someone had broken in and stolen my 32" Vizio flatscreen TV, xbox 360 elite, DVD player, and most importantly my 15" Macbook Pro. I called the police immediately and they came out and did the standard police thing, but as I've been in contact with them lately, they say they have no leads and I'm not going to get my stuff back, bottom line. Now I'm left with no computer to work with and worst of all, I know I'll never get the things back that were important to me on that computer. I had pictures on it from when I was 10 years old and I'll never see them again. I worked really hard to save the money to buy those things and they are all gone in an instant. I just can't believe it. I have no one else to turn to and I just don't know what else I can do. I'm getting married soon and I can't afford to go buy a new laptop, to be honest at this point that's all I care about as far as what was stolen. If anyone knows any way to track a laptop or xbox 360 it would be appreciated. I know its a long shot.

I am looking in to getting some protection to recover and make life hard for a thief, if my MBP should get stolen. I found several products doing a search. They are for example: GadgetTrak Laptop Security, Hidden, LoJack for Laptops, Rest safe.with any of these products, or other ones, that you would say is a good investment and worth it. Or possible other ways of doing so that I did not think of. I had my macbook Pro stolen a couple weeks ago.I have replacement converage with my insurance company, however they are trying to get me to sign this authorization form to replace it with a computer with the Model # as ZONM-0003. From searching google all I can find is that these computers appear to have been built with (Spare, Repair or replacement parts). Does anyone have any information on any MacBook Pro's with this model # They tell me that they are brand new computers from Apple, but from what I can see these are not the correct model numbers.I don't want to get a computer that has refurbished parts and end up having to bring it in for repairs constantly or have problems with even having it fixed because the parts are not new.
