I was wondering if anyone knows of other ways to control the computer to preserve battery life. I'm thinking mostly about underclocking the cpu. Does anyone know if this is possible and also if this would benefit the battery life? I'm on Aluminum Macbook OS X 10.5.8.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am thinking of buying a MBP, and I want to do my research correctly .
I want to get the base model (the 2.66ghz seems like a ripoff...), but upgrade the harddrive space. If I increased it from the 240gb to the 500gb, would that make my computer faster? Or what would the effects of it be? I am just wondering to see whether I should go for he 500gb or the 320gb...I do not want to get the SSD since they are pretty expensive at this point.
I began to upgrade the operating system over the last year and now have Lion OS 10.7.3.The overall speed is very slow now - even just OfficeMac programs like Excel - opening programs/apps and delays when typing emails or Word docs [even this message....].Any basic changes I can make [more RAM, etc] without buying a new computer?

I want to use a macbook air as my primary computer [URL:...] and as it seems like mac codecs suck, I'm thinking about installingWindows 7/XP on it. Is that a good idea?(Especially if I want to link it to an APPLE LED?) Are there going to be any hardware issues/problems?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just logged into iChat and noticed the green icon is only a telephone symbol, not the usual video.
So I go into Preferences > Audio/Video and the video preview is now a white box with the text, 'This computer does not support video chat'.
It's a brand new MacBook Pro, iChat has been working fine up to this point. I re-started and still the same message.
My Messages preferences on my MacBook Air says "This computer does not support video chats". The camera works in Skype and my bandwith is over 30Mbps down ad 4 up.

I just switched to Mac OS X Lion yesterday and I feel like I just wasted a ton of money on something that now doesn't support all my school cd's and apps. How can I get software back on my computer to help get rid of the "Can't Open Because this isn't supported... Blah blah blah."

These old eyes really need bigger fonts on my beautiful MacBook Pro. It is so easy to do in Windows. Why would it not be possible with my MacBook Pro? All the menus, tabs, icon titles, etc. fonts need to be bigger. It is not ergonomically correct to have to sit so close to my MacBook Pro.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had problems with my Apple Mail crashing and the only fix we could try after spending quite a long time on searching for the proble was to delete all my accounts and re-introduce them one at a time. But I didn't realise that would delete all my preferences and signatures
So I am having to start from fresh. I can get my text for message subject lines and the mailboxes to the size I want BUT if i have digests from groups the text is still tiny. I know I can enlarge using cmd+ but I have to do that for each message. But I can;t find the preferences

I like my MacBook Air, but the font size when drafting email is a bit too small. For viewing regular email, I know I can use the Command and "=" to increase the size, but that does not work on the drafting window. how to increase the font size I view when drafting. (Just to be clear, this is just for my viewing -- I am not interested in changing the font in the email that is sent (I know how to do that).)
View 5 Replies View Related1 - I have an early 2008 iMac 24" and ordered Snow Leopard disc from Apple
2 - After installation of Win7 64 bit and problems with boot camp 3.1 drivers support then tells me my computer will not run windows 7 64 bit and sends me a list of non-compatibles. Sure enough mine is one.
3 - Several respondents help me and it appears that 64 bit will run but still trouble with keyboard/mouse.4 - uninstall 64 bit and install 32 bit and related boot camp drivers5 - numeric keypad on apple keyboard still does not work with office 20106 - just tried to update drivers for win 32 but it says more current ones are installed??? I guess that is from the attempt to install 3.1 for win 64 unsuccessfully?7 - Now support lists computers that will not run windows 7 and mine is not on that list.
right now i'd be a happy camper if someone could just tell me how to get the Apple keyboard that came with my iMac and the numeric keypad working when in Windows or Office.
it doesn't let me video chat on iMessages it says" this computer does not support video chats".

I've had my MobileMe account since 2003. Had my three Macs since my first G4 and added to them as I could afford.I also have an iPhone 3G. All have access to my MobileMe.
I also have my website on MobileMe. Can I ask, what happens, as I got a warning to switch, as my MobileMe will end soon, if I can't have Lion on my computers? My 11 years of connection to MobileMe will all be lost?
I live in Greece and Mac prices are through the roof here. This is a forced upgrade tactic, I feel. Will there be no alternative to online mail for the lesser mortals without Lion?
Could I have an answer, and not get deleted again, as, as the email states, time is running out.

I am contemplating upgrading my MacBook Pro (2011 model) from Snow Leopard to Lion.
