when i use expose or open dashboard or any other screen for that matter that opens up, i always get a high pitched "grinding" noise coming from my display. It wasnt there before and all of a sudden it starts doing this? im very confused about this as i have no idea what it could be
View 16 Repliesfirst time i have ever come across. I have a Intel 2 MacBook Pro. There is no sound coming from the speakers even though it is not muted and the vol is turned to the max. There is sound coming if i plug headphones in the jack. Just noticed that there is a red light coming from where the headphone jack is...anyone have any idea how i can get my speakers to work again?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI noticed in the past week that when I scroll through a webpage I can hear a clicking sound (similar to the one from the MM) coming out of my speakers? This also seems to happen when I scroll through my iTunes library but in this case it's a humming sound, when the scrolling stops so does the noise. I've tried muting the speakers but the sound is still there, has anyone else experience this before?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI don't know how to describe it. It's almost like the pop sound you get when you raise/lower the volume, but it happens when you're doing nothing. Like the MBP is hiccuping. A very slight quiet noise, but it's strange and disturbing nonetheless. It's not a mechanical clink, like the HD or something, but a little 'pop'.
View 24 Replies View RelatedWhen I pick it up, or when I move is suddenly (even just slightly), I get a horrible sound from the back right hand side. It sounds like a someone is putting a piece of plastic into a spinning fan. It also kinda sounds like the hard drive head hitting the disk (scratching sound). I know that these things are meant to have a movement sensor which actually takes the head OFF the disk, but this sounds like its doing the opposite (scratching the moving disk). If I do it while watching a movie, the film freezes for a second at the same time the sound can be heard - so it's definately something to do with the hard drive.
I have done some research but everyone talking about the sudden movement sensor has described the sound as a "click", not a scratch. Can someone confirm this is normal, or abnormal? It's happening quite a lot - e.g. if I just pick it up it occurs. I've had loads of laptops and this is the first that seems to make a sound whenever I move it...
Ok, this is kind of hard to describe without a recording of it but my MacBook has this frustrating fault where it beachball's without warning and produces a really hard to describe sound every few seconds. The best I can come with to describe it is an "uh-oh" sound from around the keyboard area. It hangs like this for anything from 2-10 mins and will be pretty much unusable in that time.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor the past few days my MBP has been slow. Ridiculously slow. Beachballing to open safari etc. I have just noticed that as it tries to load things it makes a weird sound. A short burring sounds followed by a long one then a short one. Don't know if that is relevant. Earlier today it froze so i had to do a hard shutdown (hold down the power button) and then it wouldn't boot. I ended up booting it off the snow leopard disc. This problem seemed to start when i started playing wow again but i had it installed for a long time. Could this be heat related?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an iMac 24" 2.8Ghz Dual Core, 2Gb RAM, 320 HDD. This nice iMac has been with me only 2 days and the problems already started. I don't know why when I play a song either in iTunes or in web(audio streaming) the audio suddenly changes. It's as if you applied an EQ and removed all the low frecuencies and after a few seconds the sounds returned just as normal. When this "auto EQ" happens, the sound becomes "brighter" (I hope you understand what I am trying to say) but just as I said, after a few seconds, the sound is played normaly. I am running Mac OS X v 10.5.2.
I just bought a MacBook Pro and a Weird sound such as a disc scratching is coming from it seems my Disc drive. This only happens when I start the computer up or wake it after the HD goes to sleep. The notebook is brand new and not sure if this is normal.
View 10 Replies View Relatedive had the unibody macbook 13" since dec and its been running smoothly. the other night i shut the lid and put the comp to sleep just like every other night, i put the computer on the floor gently and woke up about 6/7 hours later. when i turned it on, i hear this weird buzzing...purring....ticking? i guess i dont know how to describe it. im sure its not the fan cuz i have istat and it would tlel me if the fans going crazy fast...which it isnt, so yea what do i do...is this a serious problem? can i get this fixed?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI didn't play any music. Not beep sound or something similar. The sound comes from one side of the speaker. I closed all application but the sound is still there. Sounds like fan or something blowing inside. I ain't sure. It stops only when I completely shut down my computer. When I switched it on, it's gone. My battery level is low (22%). Does this affect?

I've read in several posts in this website's forum that there's a CPU noise problem with the MBPs, i even got to this site: o-noise-update...The thing is, that my computer is experimenting completely different symptoms, and that's quite annoying. I feel I'm alone in this The thing started like this, I sent my 13" Mid 2009's 2GHZ MBP to AppleCare to be repaired after the audio jack stopped working, they told me the audio card was to be replaced, and they did fix that problem, little did I not notice in the Apple Store (due to the store's natural noisy environment) that after this repair they gave me the computer back with the infamous hissing sound.

It started buzzing and I wasn't sure what it was, until a week later I got a folder with a question mark at log-in, from what I understand my hard-drive died. I replaced the hard-drive myself within a few minutes, very easy and no problems, and it runs perfectly.
It's been two weeks and it's already buzzing again. I take very good care of my Macbook but I do transport it from class and back everyday.
i feel like i hear more from the left side of my mbp then the right. either that or my right ear is clogged with tons of nasty stuff......ive picked my ear (sorry for TMI) but its not working, so im pretty sure i hear more out of the left speaker. is this normal? i read something before saying theirs a "left speaker biased" or w/e
View 9 Replies View Relatedwhere the external speakers i am running through my Focusrite Saffire 6 USB interface have ceased producing any sound at all when linked in to the Macbook Pro . I have plugged them in elsewhere and they are working fine , so that is not the issue . Â
i had performed the software update on my Macbook pro to get OSX 10.9.3 . I have gone in to sound settings and made certain that both input and output are set to the Saffire interface . A signal is certainly coming through and sound can be recorded , so input is fine . I have also done this in both Garageband and Logic , to no avail . However this issue is effecting ALL sound in the sense that nothing is coming out at all from any source . No sound is coming out headphones when plugged in to the interface.Â
Thought it might be the interface but this literally happened as soon as i tried using my set up with the new OSX 10.9.3 software installed . Oh and i also get an error message whilst playing a track on garageband : "Error while trying to synchronize audio and midi...Sample rate 42212 recognized , check conflict between garage band and external device". There seems to be something wrong with my speakers. Every time I play a short sound like the "Funk" alert sound there this sound that comes from the speakers that sounds like a crunchy, crispy, muffled sound. Funny enough when I try to record the issue with GarageBand the issue goes away. To reproduce this issue I go to "System Preferences" and to "Sound" and play the alert sounds.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook pro and iphone4, so I bought a Denon Ceol RCD N-7 that supports airplay. The system requires, that I upgrade the software on the receiver, which I have done. And I can confirm on the receiver, that I have installed the airplay on the unit. When I go to iTunes on the macbook pro, then I get the option to use the Denon Ceol as speakers for iTunes, so the airplay should work. However neither the macbook or the iphone can connect to the unit, meaning there is not any sound coming out of the receiver or any indication on the receiver, that it is connecting to the airplay.I have also checked for the receiver to be able to connect to the same wireless network as the iphone and macbook - which it does. And the internet radio is working on the receiver, so the internet connection is fine.iTunes is 10.5.1, so that is also fine. How can I indentify the problem or do any of you know how to fix the problem?

I'm on a 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro, just updated to version 10.5.5. Today, it seems some strange sound output issue has cropped up. Using either the laptop's built-in speakers, or the headphone jack connected to an external pair of creatures, the sound turns on and off intermittently. When I go to System Preferences -> Sound, and select output, the "Choose a device for sound output", I have: Name: External Speakers, Type: Built-in Output. Then occasionally switches to something else, a little too fast to read. Looks like "Something Output (ispk)". Every time the sound goes out, the Balance goes to "The selected device has no output controls". Weirdly, right now, I've got nothing plugged in, and its switching between Headphones, Internal Speakers, and Built-In whatever. Basically, it looks like the sound output stuff is wigging out. Sound works fine through a USB headset.

ok the other day i opened my mac book and i couldnt listen to my music through my speaks and i tried to turn up the music cuz maybe it was on mute but i got a pic like this (If u cant see it but its the speaker up full volume and the not allowed symbol the circle w/ the line through it) and then i discovered that there is a red light coming out from speaker jack and i could only use my sound through headphones or a jack through other speakers (like a sound system) but no only that i can only hear through the right side of the headphones unless i hold the cord a certain way

Last night I turned it off and the weird fan continued running. I tried to unplug my mac and plug it back in, but the fan just starts right back up. Just bought today, brand new mac pro 8 core 2.8ghz. I get a weird click on both boot and start up or when I put the computer to sleep or wake it. It's a single click, imagine the sound of someone lightly flicking the side of an empty Pepsi can. It's not random, I can make it do the sound simply by unplugging or re-plugging the power cord in the back. Is this normal?
