I'm having trouble with my MacBook Pro. When I plug in headphones, the sound still comes out of the internal speakers instead of my headphones.

first time i have ever come across. I have a Intel 2 MacBook Pro. There is no sound coming from the speakers even though it is not muted and the vol is turned to the max. There is sound coming if i plug headphones in the jack. Just noticed that there is a red light coming from where the headphone jack is...anyone have any idea how i can get my speakers to work again?
View 5 Replies View Relatedok the other day i opened my mac book and i couldnt listen to my music through my speaks and i tried to turn up the music cuz maybe it was on mute but i got a pic like this (If u cant see it but its the speaker up full volume and the not allowed symbol the circle w/ the line through it) and then i discovered that there is a red light coming out from speaker jack and i could only use my sound through headphones or a jack through other speakers (like a sound system) but no only that i can only hear through the right side of the headphones unless i hold the cord a certain way
View 6 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I began hearing some strange high frequency noises coming from my internal speakers, and even higher noises when headphones or my external speakers were plugged in. A day later, the noise was only coming from the internal speakers and the headphone jack no longer works. I have the speakers plugged in and the sound still comes from the internal speakers with intermittent high frequency noises and whistling. I'm trying to get back my speakers or headphones in working order.

I have my stereo plugged into the headphone jack but would like the sound to also come from the internal speakers when the stereo is off without unplugging the jack in back.I tried going to the sound control panel but it only lists the headphone jack. Is there a way to do this?

When this is plugged in it sends everything playing on my MBP to the speaker. This is great but I would also like the music to play from my laptop speakers at the same time.

where the external speakers i am running through my Focusrite Saffire 6 USB interface have ceased producing any sound at all when linked in to the Macbook Pro . I have plugged them in elsewhere and they are working fine , so that is not the issue .
i had performed the software update on my Macbook pro to get OSX 10.9.3 . I have gone in to sound settings and made certain that both input and output are set to the Saffire interface . A signal is certainly coming through and sound can be recorded , so input is fine . I have also done this in both Garageband and Logic , to no avail . However this issue is effecting ALL sound in the sense that nothing is coming out at all from any source . No sound is coming out headphones when plugged in to the interface.
Thought it might be the interface but this literally happened as soon as i tried using my set up with the new OSX 10.9.3 software installed . Oh and i also get an error message whilst playing a track on garageband : "Error while trying to synchronize audio and midi...Sample rate 42212 recognized , check conflict between garage band and external device". Here's a reminder of gear used :
-Macbook Pro OSX 10.9.3
-Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Interface

There seems to be something wrong with my speakers. Every time I play a short sound like the "Funk" alert sound there this sound that comes from the speakers that sounds like a crunchy, crispy, muffled sound. Funny enough when I try to record the issue with GarageBand the issue goes away. To reproduce this issue I go to "System Preferences" and to "Sound" and play the alert sounds.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI have plugged a toslink cable between my 5.1 amplifier and my iMac, but I would like to be able to find a software that would let me switch between digital out and the internal iMac speakers (which are quite good actually!)
I know it is a Mac OS driver limitation since Windows 7 (via Bootcamp) let me choose the output. In Mac OS once I plugg something, "Internal speakers" output option disappear from sound preferences, audio midi setup, HalLAB, .... This causes unnecessary wear and tear on the audio port from constantly inserting and removing the cable to switch from built in speakers to external audio system.
So I just received a used macbook that has something stuck in the headphone port. What this means is that os x wants to use the optical out (digital) and once it does that there is no way to use the internal speakers. And, because it is stuck, I can't use headphones either. Temporarily, I am trying to use an old USB external Creative sound card for my audio, but when I plug it in all it does is recognize it. I tried plugging into every port but nothing.

Currently I have my heaphones jack Line-In routed to my AV Receiver for iTunes music in my room, but whenever I am YouTubing or other stuff while listening to music the System Sounds come out of my Loudspeakers too. I am interested in routing only the iTunes audio through the headphone jack, and everything else to run through my iMac's internal speakers (2007 iMac AL).I saw the SoundFlower thing out there but didn't think that was the ticket
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor reasons unknown the internal sound option has disappeared from my MBA. The little speaker icon on the menu bar is grayed out and nothing comes from the jack. Internal speakers don't even show up as an option under sound output. I do use an Airport Express for external speakers but it's been playing happily with the internal speakers for months.

I have logitech speakers set up with my MacPro, and there is a steady stream of static noise coming from the computer. It's not the speakers because I have tested them with another device. It's definitely coming from my desktop. The strange thing is that if I restart my machine it goes away for a bit. But it starts back up as I open programs, browse the web, etc.

Just this past weekend after watching a DVD (used the headphone jack to listen) I am no longer able to hear anything out of the speakers. I also now have a red LED light shining through the headphone jack. Under the 'Sound' option in System Preferences, it says "Digital Out" instead of "Internal Speakers". I've called Tech Support and they haven't been able to help me. My next option is sending my laptop back in to them for service. I'd like to see if there if there is somebody out there that has had this same issue before I lose the laptop for atleast a week.

I tried all the solutions mentioned ; take off all external sources, tried plugging in and out the headphones 50 times, restarted OS, installed the latest software and still nothing. 1. Reset SMC - No change.
2. Reset NVRAM - No change.
3. Apple Hardware Test - No problems found.
4. The same machine when booted in Windows (via Bootcamp/CSM-BIOS) plays perfectly and shows Cirrus Logic devices and the HDA devices. This should eliminate hardware issues.
5. I have checked for the Optical Audio microswitch being stuck, but that does not seem to be the case.
6. This was used with Apple Headphones which also have the microphone built-in [URL] ....

I just purchased some logitech 2.1 speakers for my Macbook Pro, and unfortanetly, there is a pretty noticeable hum or buzz coming from the speakers. When I have the volume for the speakers turned all the way up, and the volume on my computer on mute, it's most loud. It's quite annoying.
I feel like I had this problem with my previous speakers (without a subwoofer) but I resolved it somehow...What to do, what to do...

I don't know what turned the Internal Speakers OFF But I would like to turn them back on. I can't find any thing any where in the OS that would do that. Any one has ANY Clue to why this would happen?
