MacBook Pro :: Why Are Links Opening Slowly On It

Dec 2, 2014

I use a MacBook Pro 17" Early 2011. Safari 8.0 (10600.1.25.1) I have had several different difficulties since upgrading to Yosemite.

Processor: 2.2 GHZ Intel Core l7,

Memory: 10GB 1333 MHz DDR3, (recently removed one of the 2GB modules and replaced it with an 8GB module which bumped me u to 10GB.)

Startup disk: Macintosh HD, Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 670M 1024 MB.

Lately when clicking on a link in email or while web browsing the link either acts dead and won't open at all or will open very slowly. Is this my MacBook Pro or internet ? Or OS X Yosemit

Info:
MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), Recently increased Memory to 10GB

OS X :: Opening URL Links From Mail 4.3 & Finder?

Nov 4, 2010

For the past few days, when I try to click on a URL link from an email, Firefox will open up but not to the link. I have to right click and copy link and then paste it into the location bar. Very frustrating.

I have also noticed that when I double click on a .html file from Finder, I get a pop up window asking me if I want to open it up and I click "yes" (this is normal), however, once I do that, nothing happens, but if I double click it again, it will open up in Firefox. And each time I do that for each file, the file is not opening up in a new tab, but in a new session of Firefox (my preference for this is set to new tab instead of new window).

I have checked both Firefox and Mail preferences but can't find anything about links to assist/guide me. Any and all advice is welcomed because I am stumped.

Applications :: Safari Not Opening Links In New Tab?

Oct 27, 2007

I can't seem to find the right preference order to make it so when I click on a link that should open a new tab, it instead keeps opening up a new window. I have the first and third option checked in the tabs preference but it doesn't seem to matter. I might be delirious from playing with leopard all day/night, but I just want to figure this one last option out before bed. I Would like to open links in new tab WITHOUT having to hold down the command key.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Web Links Not Opening On Any Browser?

Apr 13, 2012

I'm having trouble opening links on some websites recently. It acts the same on different browsers, click on a link and nothing... I can open the link in a new tab no problem, but don't want to have to do this all the time. I can open the very same pages no problem on my macbook pro, which is running osx lion also and the same browser versions.

OS X :: Opening MacRumors Links In New Tabs Instead Of New Windows?

Jul 17, 2009

I've just switched to Safari instead of Firefox (I don't exactly know why, just giving it a go) and I have noticed that when I open links in Forum Spy, they open in a new window in Safari, not in a new tab like in FireFox.

Applications :: Batch Opening Of Links In Word Document

Oct 4, 2010

I have a document with lot of text inside it. There are also several links. I want to be able to open all links of the document to safari tabs. The only way I have to do it 'till now is to manually copy paste each link from word pages to safari tabs. Is there any way to automate this repetitive task? Either by selecting all links of word and somehow opening them, or using osx automator? I 've not used automator before, I do not know if this task can be automated. Can you please help me to make the whole task faster and simpler?

OS X :: Email Links From Websites Opening Old Fashioned Gmail Pages?

Oct 19, 2010

I am running SL and the Gmail Notifier for Mac, and Firefox. Every time I click an email link in Firefox, instead of opening up a "compose mail" page in Gmail like it used to, recently I just get sent to an old-style HTML only Gmail page, as pictured below.

Anyone else experiencing this? it's getting pretty annoying that any time I click an email, I get sent to a useless Gmail page. I've tried googling the problem, but it never turns up results that are relevant.

MacBook :: Its Running So Slowly

Feb 12, 2012

My macbook is only a year old, and out of nowhere has started to run really slowly and the rainbow wheel of death is appearing more and more. I have 62gb available (when I opened finder this was at the bottom of the folder), and 2GB of memory when I checked 'about this mac'. I dont understand why this is happening, I have Sophos Anti Virus and Iantivirus they say their are no threats, I update my software regularly. Am I missing something? Currently I have openoffice running with one document open and I am using google chrome.

MacBook Pro :: Battery Slowly Discharging While Off?

Oct 5, 2010

Funny thing happened today while I took out my MBP and tapped it to the charger. The battery indicator shows one dot not being light up while my MBP was fully charged while the computer was turned off by the way. So I was wondering if over time, like say a week or two that even though your MBP is turned off can it still discharge at a slow rate.

MacBook Pro :: It Is Running So Slowly All Of A Sudden

May 13, 2012

Just recently my 13" Macbook Pro started to run very slowly. When I search something on google, the spinning wheel will pop up as my cursor and remain for about 30 seconds while I am unable to do or click on anything and if itunes is playing in the background then the song will stop abruptly. Everything eventually loads but its just a pain in the butt. Before this i was doing the exact same type of things with my computer and it handled them fine so i do not believe its an issue of RAM. THis happened to me once before and when I turned my computer back on it just got to the gray apple logo and would go no further, somehow my harddrive failed.

MacBook Pro :: Operating OS X Version 10.7.4 Startup So Slowly?

May 25, 2012

My Mac Book is less than one year old and it is already bogging down considerably and operating slowly.  The problem began after I inadvertently filled the hard drive to capacity.  After noticing that the hard drive was full, I cleaned out half of the space.  I cleaned out the downloads, trash, archived large files, and moved misc. information to an external storage device.  However, since filling the hard drive my computer takes much longer to reach the login page--usually a minute or more.  After logging in the computer takes another minute or longer to fully start up.  I have also noticed that the overall performance is more sluggish now. I look forward to your help and comments.

MacBook Pro :: Battery Slowly Loses Charge While Plugged In

Sep 2, 2010

just curious, does anyone else's MBP's battery slowly lose charge over time even though it's plugged in? I've got a 2010 MBP 13". Mine only is ever at 100% right after I have used the battery and just recharged it. then it will slowly lose that charge over time until I unplug it, use the battery enough for it to actually charge the battery when I plug it in. (Oh, and coconut battery has never said it ever had 100% full original battery capacity, best it ever said was 97%).

I have a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.7.3. It is running very slowly. I have tried various cleaning apps such as CleanMyMac, Spring Cleaning and Lion Cache Cleaner, but they don't make any difference. The drive has plenty of free space. How I can speed it up, or at least bring it back to normal?

MacBook Pro :: Available Space On Hard Drive Is Slowly Disappearing

Apr 1, 2012

Today when I tried to use my computer, I got an error message saying that my startup disk was almost full. This was weird because just a week before when I checked it, I had almost half of my 500 GB hard drive available. I went and deleted a bunch of stuff I didn't need, and restarted the computer, and I got my hard drive space back up to 221 GB of free space. Only a few minutes later, I looked at it again and I only had 211 GB. Throughout the day, my available space has slowly been going away. The nights almost over and now I only have 186 GB left.

MacBook :: MacBook Battery Problem (charging Very Slowly)?

Feb 22, 2010

I picked up a black MacBook on eBay recently and it seems it came with a new battery. The battery is not an Apple one and oddly the exposed surface of it is more rubbery than the rest of the MacBook. I didn't expect much and my initial impression was that it lasted a pretty good while, but seemed to discharge while sleeping a little faster than expected.

Anyway, the problem has become that while it's plugged in the menubar battery info flashes (Not Charging) every once and awhile as if it loses its connection. At first this was infrequent and didn't seem to matter. Now it happens every 7 or 8 seconds and leads to the battery charging fantastically slow. It's at 72% and iStat says it needs another 23 hours to be fully charged (it said 10 hours about 15 minutes ago).

Any idea what's going on or how to fix it?
