Jan 30, 2010In excel, whenever I try to type in a cell, I must press the first key 10-20 times before it shows up. It doesn't show up delayed, as in it shows up with 20 a's, it just shows one. Once the first key shows I can type anything else in that cell, but when i hit an arrow key or click to go to another cell, I have to hit the first letter 10-20 times again. I have to click 10-20 times to click into a new cell as well. This just started today. I've tried restarting excel a few times, but It didn't help.

Jun 16, 2009Recently my macbook slowed down during it's initial boot process. It now takes 42 seconds just for the apple logo to appear. Finally after 1:20 I'm at the desktop. I can certainly live with this but am just curious as to why all of a sudden the initial process has basically doubled (getting to the apple logo).

Feb 6, 2009I am searching for a plugin, software or a solution for a situation I have with an Excel/Word Mail Merge.
It's a law firm we specialize in DUI/DWI and Reckless Driving defense. We subscribe to a data collection service that pulls data from various court systems around the state. We are then given this data by jurisdiction. The Excel files we receive come with 2 workbooks in one file for Traffic and Criminal arrests data with name, address, reason for arrest, etc, etc.
What I have been doing is opening each Excel file and copying and pasting into a new worksheet only grabbing the DUI and Reckless driving arrests because tis is all I am needing from the various files. I then save the new workbook and do a mail merge with Word from this newly created workbook.
Now my question is there such a plugin or software that will combine all the Excel files I receive from the Data collection house and then be able to filter out only the DUI and Reckless Driving arrests to a single Excel Workbook?

Oct 21, 2010I have been asked to do a project at work in Excel. I am keeping track of around 7,000 properties all over the United States. My boss wants to know a lot about each one. I am really struggling with the weather part!! I need to somehow pull the temp and if its snowing or raining from the internet into excel. I have all the addresses and zip codes for each property. I was thinking i could write a formula that looks at an RSS feed or website (like yahoo or Google weather) based on the zip code of the address. I could also write the formula that pulls the weather to excel then VLOOKUP the zip. Does anyone have any ideas about this?? I am not sure what to do!!

May 22, 2010I recently purchased my first MAC with Excel for Mac 2008. I am unable to open any files created in it on my PC which has Excel 2003. Apple is of no help. They had assured me of compatibility at purchase citing the new open format. The MAC Excel 08 file won't open on the MAC on which is was created with their Numbers program either.

Mar 23, 2010I am just surfing the Internet and up shows up on the screen a white chain symbol on the screen. It looks almost like a infinity symbol. It shows up for a few seconds then it disappears.
My wife was typing up a document for her University and it showed to her first. This was two days ago. I think this is the first time that this has ever happened to us.

Jun 26, 2014So last Sunday morning I was playing Xbox while having my MacBook playing music from iTunes. I unplugged the charger at about 30% battery life left and let it run pretty low (%3) when I grabbed my charger to plug it in and the light wouldn't come on. I tried numerous plug ins throughout the house that all worked and still no light. (Keep in mind that I live nowhere close to a Mac store, or even a computer shop that sells or knows anything about Macs) So later Sunday night I purchased an Apple charger which I received today (Thursday). So I plugged it in and it only shows a green light and I thought that was weird because the battery is dead.Â
I turn the computer on and I saw an "x" over the battery usually where it shows the charge or if it's charging. When I click on it it reads "No Battery Available" and then says under that "Power Source: Power Adapter". So I did a little research on the forums, google, and YouTube where it seemed the only response was doing an SMC reset. So I did that and held down for 20 seconds, started computer and it was the same. I also had it turned off and let it sit on the charger because I read that could possibly work, and it didn't. If I unplug the power adapter it just shuts the computer off. I just got this battery replaced 2-3 weeks ago from Apple and everything was fine. Â

Apr 3, 2012My computer froze while I was doing homework so I tried to restart it and when I did, It doesn't show the apple logo but rather a File Folder with a ? Symbol! I tried reselecting the hard drive but it didn't show! I CANNOT lose my information on my harddrive cause I have very IMPORTANT work on there! I have mac OS X Lion! Jun 23, 2014I bought a brand new Dell U2713H monitor (resolution is 2560px wide) so I had to get a dual link adaptor. I plug it into my Macbook pro 17-inch, Late 2011 and it works beautifully for about 10 minutes and suddenly the screen turns to static and i get a dvi symbol on top left. i then turn off and on the monitor and i get another 10 minutes. I was sure it was a faulty dual link cable - but i am trying the monitor on a macbook air and it is working perfectly.
perhaps the AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB card is not good enough? but i was told by apple support before i bought the monitor it is fine as long as i use the dual link cable.

Nov 10, 2009When I send my .xls files from my Mac (Office 2008) to my boss's Windows machine (Office 2003), he gets an error message when he attempts to open the excel spreadsheet: Excel has encountered an error and must shut down. I've sent files to other computers and not had a problem, and my boss has received other excel files and been able to open them. So it must be something between these two machines/softwares that is affecting it. Any suggestions or ideas? I can add any additional info you need.

MacBook Pro :: Running Really Slow And Loading Symbol Over Cursor Appears A Lot
Jun 27, 2014I noticed ever since I downloaded "carbonite" It's been acting like this. It's slow and that little loading symbol over the cursor appears a lot. Could my hard drive
be failing or is it just something like I have too much stuff on my memory? I downloaded carbonite for crap just like this in case my hard drive crashes or something that I don't need. But the program seems like pretty much garbage anyway since it didn't even backup anything important and it seems like it doesn't even have enough storage or memory. It also doesn't even backup external files so it's kinda useless. Especially if this is the reason my Macbook Pro has been running slow.
Well anyway, this is all of the information I have. I'm going to back up everything on a floppy disk or something of that nature ASAP because my lively hood is on this laptop. I need to protect all my files and external files anyway I can. Is Timemachine any good

Sep 5, 2014My mbp retina is having wifi issues. It says there is no ip address and has an exclamation mark over the wifi signal symbol. I know it is not my router because everything else is working fine. I have tried adding a new location, clearing out system config, restarting the SMC and many other things. I cannot connect to the wifi but sometimes I will be able to randomly connect. If I were to sleep or restart the laptop, the wifi will not connect and its back to square one.

Apr 11, 2012Just came back from the Genius Bar at Apple Amsterdam. Both iTunes and iPhoto had problems launching and libraries were not loading. Ruled out hardware problems so they tried installing OS Snow Leopard over my 10.5.8 in a way to keep my documents safe. All went well until halfway it said it couldn't install succesfully. Made a new appointment for in 3 days from now. They would then overwrite the current OS with the new one so i should go home and make sure to back up all my files in the meantime. Problem is that when i came home and started my laptop i got a blank/white screen with a blinking documents folder symbol with a question mark in it! Does anybody know what it means and will i be able to ever make a back up of my documents?

I turn it off and turn it back on and I get a black screen and 3 short beeps and it keeps going. Well I called apple and they said it is a hardware issue. I goggled it and found it is a memory issue (maybe).
