I just discovered the Remote app which controls iTunes and I was wondering if there were any more apps with similar functionality that control other things on the MacBook Pro, and if you happen to know, also what is the cost? I'm really loving this new MacBook Pro of mine and discovering all of the cool things it can do.
View 1 RepliesI've been experiencing some weird problems on my Mac Pro for the last few days. It's a Xeon quad 2.8, 6GB memory and running 10.5.6, never had any problems with it before. So the problems I'm having is that some system applications becomes unresponsive (freeze and fun beach ball spinning). In most cases I'm not able to force quit the frozen apps either. Also, in the dock it says "Application Not Responding" when I right click on them (like it should), but when I check the "Force Quit Applications" window there is no such text (there should be some red text after the application name if I'm not mistaken).
These are the apps that has frozen the last few days: System preferences, Disk Utility, System Profiler, Software Update, the main menu has also frozen at times.
When I try to shut down the Mac Pro it quits all the applications as usual, but then just stops and shows the wallpaper and nothing else (so I have to use the power button on Mac Pro itself to completely shut it down. When I want to put my Mac to sleep it takes way longer than usual as well. Today after I had been away for a while I came back to see the screen saver active, but in my Energy settings I've set it to shut down the displays before the screen saver would activate � so I have no idea why the screen saver was on...
I have locked my System Preferences (with the little lock in the lower left) but when I click on the lock it just says "Authorizing..." next to it and System Preferences freezes (no password window pops up).
I'm lost. I can't for the life of me figure out what could be wrong. I've used Repaired Permissions without any luck. (There was some error messages, but now I can't even open up Disk Utility again without it freezing directly at start up.)
All I can think about is that something I've installed would have messed something up, not sure. The last days I've installed: Grammarian Pro X (trial), iWork '09 (retail) and Handbreak. (and I've updated other software like Adium, but I doubt that's the problem)
I open two apps in my macbook, how can i select the app without clicking on it?.I know that f3 > mission control and then click, but i want to switch between apps with keyboard shortcut.

Will my apps and stuff and things I've downloaded disappear when I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks? I am afraid everything will go away Do I need a USB to put my stuff in and then put it back when Mavericks has been applied? Because i'm downloading Mavericks right now and my iMac is so old it doesn't support half the stuff the new ones do. It was made in early 2009. And also, if it will stay, would it go away if I entered a different apple ID when it will reboot and say "Enter APPLE ID"

How can I stop the control button from moving the open applications up and exposing the desktop? It is getting very annoying when I want to use the control button for other functions. I tried looking in settings under keyboard, but found nothing.

I'm looking for an app or something on the Mac already that can control what's playing on my iPhone which would be docked on my Boss Dock.
Esentially it's the Remote app for the iPhone that controls iTunes in reverse...
When you sync your iPhone you sometimes get the following message:Â
Itunes has found purchased items on the iphone thats arenot present in your itunes library.Â
There are two reasons for this:
1. I have deleted apps in iTunes that I don't want, but not on the iPhone. I don't want to transfer the apps back to iTunes because I want them gone.
2. I have bought apps on the iPhone that I do want to keep. I want these transferred to iTunes.Â
So if I have both types 1 and 2 then there is no good answer. Preferably iTunes should offer to sync and choose which apps to transfer and what not to transfer. Is there a way to change this behaviour? By the time I sync I don't know what I've done so I'm usually not sure how to answer the question. Sometimes I like to bulk delete apps in iTunes--it is easier than doing it on the iPhone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do I get an app to stick in a desktop. I have the mission control desktop and then desktops 1 through 7. I have them all opening up various applicaitons, but even though I move the app to the desktop I want, and I shut down with the app open in that desktop, on restart it opens up in the wrong desktop...always the same one, but always the wrong one. iTunes - I put it in Desktop 7, its there when I shut down. It always opens up in Desktop 1. I don't have trouble with calendar, mail, addressbook. Also, sometimes 'finder' folders that I have left open in a specific window when I shut down do not open up on restart. They do sometimes, but most of the time not.Â

Until recently, when I downloaded an app update on my iPhone, it would automatically - without syncing - remove that same app update on iTunes and vice versa. Now it does this only when I download the update to my iTunes and then sync using USB. When I do a wired sync. I can't figure out how to make it do it again automatically.

I noticed that my IP address is different on my devices, and I'm unable to use some apps on my iPhone, such as Apple Remote for iTunes and Airmouse, and AirVideo. It seems the last digit in my IP address is different, here's the example: 192.168.1.X, where X is different on my Macbook, iPhone, and Airport Extreme.

I think I used to be able to plug my iPhone into my iMac and, via iTunes, be able to click on the icon for my phone, then choose Apps across the top and when the screen opened showing my apps on the various desktops I had built, I could click on the apps and move them from one desktop to the other, and rearrange their order. Now, in iTunes 11.3.1, when I click on the app and try and drag it, the whole desktop moves. It is easier to rearrange them via iTunes on the iMac vs doing it on the iPhone as you can make the app icons bigger, which makes it easier to see them.Â

I'm convinced that the next version of OSX will allow you to install and run natively all iPhone and iPad apps, with future screens being touch enabled, and those that aren't let you use the mouse instead of your finger when gesturing. I can't wait till I can install and run the facebook app on a MBP, for no reason in particular, just because I can.
