MacBook Pro :: How To Remove Software Update 1.3

Apr 26, 2010

Bought a new i7 MBP, moved the HD from my previous gen MBP to it, installed MBP Software Update 1.3, decided I didn't like/need the new MBP, got refund, put HD back in old MBP.

The problem: MBP Software Update 1.3 is only meant for the 2010 models, so I'm wondering if there's any way to uninstall it, now that the HD is back in my 2009 MBP.

I'm getting a few 'can't repair permission X' messages on Disk Utility and although I've not had any actual problems, for peace of mind I'd like to roll back. I can nuke the problem with Time Machine, I guess, but I'd rather avoid that if at all possible, just cos of Time Machine's potential to fail.

MacBook Pro :: Remove Latest IPhoto Update From It?

Jul 1, 2012

An update for iPhoto '11 was available recently, and I installed it on my computer without thinking twice about it. I use the application for my business and it has worked very well up until I installed the update. Now, however, several of the features that I need are much less responsive due to the update. Is there any way that I can remove the update and restore the application to the way it was before the update?

OS X :: Remove Software Update Reminders

Apr 21, 2010

I was wondering if there is any way to get rid of the update reminders that show up when my mac runs the software updates. Like the list that is displayed and it will say like itunes, iphoto, security update etc. I have like ten updates for different programs that I dont want to update but everytime I run a check for updates those are still on the list. For example there is an Garage band update that I dont want but it still is on the list. How can I remove these? I dont want to uninstall any updates or anything like that. Ive seen posts on that topic before.

I just bought a MacBook Pro and for some reason there is an update available for angry birds. When i try to update it tells me i have to log on to an account that is not mine. Even crazier, I've never in my life saw that Apple ID before and i only logged on with my own ID on my brand new Mac. I know it's a small thing but it is annoying.

OS X :: Remove Unwanted Connected Guest / Remove From System With Disable Sharing

Jun 9, 2008

I've just noticed that in my Finder window sidebar, under "Shared", I have a character called Thomson listed. I don't know any Thomson and I bought the machine, an MBA, brand new. However, I did have an engineer instal the machine in my apartment and can only assume he's the mysterious Thomson. Anyway, whoever he/she is, I don't want him/her on my machine as Shared & "connected as guest". The point is, I cannot find a way to delete Thomson!! Can anyone help? I've tried System Preferences>Security and Accounts and there's no trace of Thomson there. Right clicking on Thomson in the sidebar of Finder only gives me the option to Open and Get Info. Most annoying, this. There MUST be a way to delete a Sharing but totally unwanted guest....

MacBook :: Software Update Can't Connect To Update Server

Apr 4, 2012

I am trying to update my Mac book because it is saying that software updates are available (Mac OS X Lion version 10.7.3). But I keep getting a message saying "Some of the selected updates could not be installed. Software updates can't connect to the update server. Make sure you are connected to the internet and then try again"I am using a DLINK wireless router and have had problems with the internet connection dropping in and out on my Macbook, Ipad and iphone but it now seems to be working on all devices so given I am connected to the internet I don't know why the software updates won't install on my Macbook.

MacBook Pro :: Software Update Quit Unexpectedly After 10.7.4 Update?

May 29, 2012

After doing the update to OS X 10.7.4 on my MacBook Pro, I am experiencing a few problems.  First all my applications would not open any more - almost none of them - so now I am running them all in 32-bit mode.  This also happened with Safari after the last update.  The second problem, my sofware update is not responding anymore?  When I do a software update, it fails, giving me a problem report.  The report is pasted below below.

MacBook Pro :: How To Update OS X Without Using Software Update Or App Store

Jun 2, 2014

My Softward Update and App Store repeatedly "crash unexpectedly" (along with Dashboard, Finder and a whole host of other applications).

I have tried everything but it seems there is no way I can use either of them.

As a result, I haven't been able to update anything for months and my OSX is now thoroughly screwed up.

Is there any way I can update OSX without using Softward Update or App Store? Is there an update file I can download without having to go through them?

I'd prefer not to resort to OSX Restore as I don't want have my Microsoft Office product key.

MacBook :: Cannot Update Anything In Software Update

Apr 20, 2012

I am trying to update all of my software through the Software Update but i keep getting an error. I have tried repairing permissions in disk utility, making an alternate admin account, and much more. Nothing seems to work. I wanted to reformat the disk but i have lost my OS X discs so i cant do that, and sadly i never made a restore point. I just bought an ipad and i cant sync anything in itunes because it requires the update.  Heres my error message when using software update:"The digital signature on the update is missing or invalid. The update may have been tampered with since being signed by Apple. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs." Heres my error message when using stand alone itunes update:"An unknown installation error occurred. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

OS X :: Software Update Doesn't Show The Latest Multi-Touch Trackpad Update?

Jul 29, 2010

Yesterday Apple released Safari 5.0.1 and Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0, but Software Update on my Mac makes me able to download only the first one (Safari 5.0.1) - which I did. Why can't it find the Multi-Touch Trackpad Update?

- My MacBook is fine (it's 13-inch, Mid 2009).

- My OS is fine (Mac OS X v10.6.4).

Sure, I can download it manually, BUT it makes me really annoyed if something on my Mac works not as good as it should.

OS X :: Unable To Updating Latest Security Update 2009-001 And Java 10.5 Update 3?

Feb 14, 2009

I have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.

I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.

This one was perfect untill I applied the update.

The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.

Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.

ITunes :: Update Smart Playlists With Live Update Turned Off?

May 7, 2012

If I create a smart playlist in itunes and deselect live updating then how exactly does the smart playlist load up?

The reason I ask is that started setting up Smart Playlists for all of the artists on my computer and they're all set to live update which is consequently slowing down my itunes.  I realize that I may not necessarily need that. My question is though...how exactly would I go about manually updating a smart playlist that has live updating turned off?
