Similar to "exclamation" mark that others have seen in the wifi icon in the toolbar, I am getting an "X" within wifi icon and cannot add wifi in settings.

New to Macs and struggling a bit with the high res/ average eye sight combo.
I've managed to get most of my apps text sizes ok for me to see (though FF skews things up a bit), but I find my toolbar icons and text size to be a bit small for me.
Two main apps cause me grief. Mail and Office. I can't seem ti find anywhere where I can increase the size of the toolbar icons. In mail i can use Large icons, but that doesn't affect the toolbar. In Office (mainly Word/Excel) I can't seem to find anything at all.

Can anyone identify this toolbar icon that has suddenly appeared on my Mac? Clicking/Right clicking does nothing and it doesn't seem to be one of my Login Items. If anyone can identify what it is so I can uninstall it?

I have 12 different icons in my toolbar. 11 of them are useful. Of course the one I don't want, is the only one I don't know how to turn off. Why must apple scatter the option for "show in toolbar" across the system prefrences labrynth? How do I get rid of the device sync icon?

I purposely deleted the Mail application from my Macbook. Went into Finder and moved the app icon to trash can. I thought this would do the trick, but now it randomly shows up on the toolbar but won't open. How do I get rid of this thing?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWith the last few versions of Safari, including 5.1.7, the toolbar has not been customizable. When right clikcing or using menu the toolbar window does not appear. Clicking any icon on toolbar removes that element. This suggests the toolbar is in an edit mode. Only a restart will reset toolbar. Running snow leopard. All updates added To OS.

Last night I downloaded Skype on my MacBook Air that I bought a few weeks ago.
I downloaded it from Skype.com, and everything seemed normal. I can now call and talk to friends and family on Skype from my laptop. However, once Skype downloaded, an icon that looks very similar to a USB icon (except blue with the Skype logo) appeared on my desktop. I tried to eject it like a normal USB, and it worked, but the next time I opened up Skype, the icon appeared again. If I try to eject the icon while I am using Skype, a thing comes up saying that it can't be ejected because Skype is in use.

I use the Overdrive app to borrow books from Maryland library systems. How do I put the Overdrive icon on my dock at the bottom of my home screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a macbook pro. I installed some apps. I opened the applications folder from the dock and I attempted to drag the icon to the dock to create a shortcut there. My finger came off the track pad and the icon snapped over to the far upper left corner of the desktop. It's in the corner under the apple symbol on the menu bar. It's a transparent white square with a question mark in it. If I clicked on it it would open the app it's linked to. But I can't move it or delete it. If I right click a small window comes up showing the path to the app momentarily. I tried uninstalling the app and rebooting no luck. Looking in the desktop folder shows nothing. It looks stupid and it blocks the x-out of any app that is open full size.

I have my Macintosh HD (which I access often) and then the Untitled BootCamp HD (which I never access when I'm using the Mac OS... there's not point).
Would it be possible to move the Untitled BootCamp HD icon so it's off my desktop? Can I just put it in some other folder or put it in my Macintosh HD folder?
Mainly for the idea to use the monitor as a external monitor. This is what I need. I basically want the magic mouse to automatically connect to the macbook pro when I plug the MacBook into the iMac as an external display. Obviously then I need it to disconnect from the iMac (because apparently you can only pair with one thing w/ bluetooth). I realize you can go thru the tedious steps of disconnecting from the iMac and then reconnecting to the MacBook every time, but its a pain, and honestly I can't figure out how to reconnect to the iMac if the mouse is disconnected (ie I can't move the mouse to the bluetooth icon on the iMac if it's disconnected, I hope that makes sense).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook pro operating on OS X software, version 10.6.8. I am trying to upgrade to the newest version (I'm clearly behind, I know) and when I click "get" in the app store the download drops into the dock and reads "OS X Yosemite--waiting" and the only option is to click "cancel download". I've restarted the download twice and restarted the computer once.

I really need your help with this one. I was changing all of my folder icons and for some strange reason the Downloads icon will not change and now wont even appear. Please see attached screenshot.I have done the following to try and fix this problem:
1. Used LiteIcon and Candybar but both weren't able to fix the problem.
2. I went to /system/Library/coresevices/coretypes.bundle/contents/resources and the correct downloads icon does appear. It just wont appear in the Finder Window.
3. I have rebooted, logged in and even did a system cache clear and still nothing.
4. Tried to change it manually with the Command I and copy and paste with changing permissions. Nothing worked.
Sometimes, after downloading an app from the Mac App Store, the progress bar keeps saying it's almost downloaded but not finished. The only workaround I know is restarting the computer. The icon remains this way:
