I'm struggling with finding a pages file I saved. It is very important! I have been looking and have checked my downloads, trash, recent pages documents, desktop, and on flash drives but can't find it. Where else to search?

I'm using the first release of Pages and I copied and pasted over some original documents and then saved them. I then exited out of Pages and did some other stuff. I realized my mistake a couple hours latter. Is there anyway to recover the original documents without the new saved over pasting?
There are no backups to these files.
Need to open Pages documents. I created a document on an older version of pages and now my new MacBook Air won't open it and says I need to save it on Pages 09 first. How do I do that? I really need to be able to open my old (old as in only a year old) Pages documents.

I am having trouble finding a folder on my macbook that I am 100% positive that it is on my computer but when I enter the folder name in the finder it will not come up. It was a folder that was buried in one folder and then you had to open another folder and then another one and so on. It is buried but like I said I know for a fact it is there, somewhere.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to open a few Pages files but I don't have Pages installed on this computer. I understand you can convert Pages files to .doc or .pdf within the application, but unfortunately I won't have access to the computer with the program installed for a while.
Is there some sort of (free) converter that can convert .pages files to .doc or .pdf or even .rtf?
Or even better, a document creator/viewer than can open .pages files?
When I download and save files on my desktop that are made for MAC these are saved as .exe making it impossible to install (.dmg files become .exe!).
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently discovered that files saved onto desktop would not be visible. Whenever I save a photoshop document, recieve an adium file transfer, or take a screenshot with command shift 3, etc., it does not show on the desktop. However, if I drag and drop files from other folders onto the desktop or drag a picture in firefox onto the desktop, it shows.
I've tried these but the files wouldn't show:
-Sorting files by filename in the view options.
-Opening the desktop folder in finder.
-Renaming the files in terminal.
When I do these, the files would show:
-Restart the computer.
-If I list the desktop directory in terminal with the ls command, the files are visible.
-Move the file in terminal to another directory, the file is visible with finder.
-Dragging the above file onto desktop, the file shows.
I recently installed WinXP with bootcamp, wonder if that caused the problem.
I have saved about 300 photos on CD from a Windows Vista PC in PSD and JPEG formats. When I tried to insert the CD to my Macbook it says that it is not readable. Is there any way I can get the files to work on my Mac Photoshop or any other programme on Mac?

i opened up my video in quicktime pro and trimmed it down to around 15 seconds of video that i need, and it plays fine. but the problem is, when i save it as an .mov file and open it, there's only audio on it, with a grey screen.

Running XPress7.2 on a Mac OSX 4.11, which is running out of RAM sometimes, and my colleagues are finding edits our lead designer enters and saves disappearing from permanent file. It seems the editing rounds are missing only a fraction of the edits, too many to be explained by operator error, and distributed throughout a project stage. For example, if they save 60 text changes in a day, they might find 10 undone the next day. Now, while I can't think of anything more entertaining than poring over print docs to track old edits, my colleagues are wimping out! We are running out of RAM but the hard drive still has lots of free space. Files are in the 20-30 MB range.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't work out how to combine files in Pages, so please advise! If I go to Insert->Choose it looks like I can add other files, but not pages files. I have about 10 pages documents that need to be merged into one single document. I know I could copy and paste but I am concerned about a number of formatting issues. Some documents have fairly complicated section breaks or are fairly image-heavy, for example. One document seems to choke everything up when I copy from it (the one with lots of images etc - it's around 10MB large).
View 2 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden my computer (imac, 10.4.11) won't let me open images downloaded from digital cameras (I've tried several - so it's not the cameras). I get the following error - "Couldn't open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that Preview doesn't recognize." Also the same basic error when using Photoshop and Fireworks. I can open files still on the camera, or saved to a CD - just not anything dragged to the desktop. I can still open pictures which had been previously saved - but nothing new. I ran the Repair Disk utility, which found and apparently fixed an Illegal Name error on the hard drive, but the problem still persists.

I had used FileVault 2 on the entire drive and had later deleted all contents. After changing my mind, I used SoftTote Data recovery for mac to retrieve the deleted files. Can't figure out the Spelling function -
Words that are clearly misspelled don't get a little red squiggle under them. And when I click "check spelling" some of these mistooks are ignored.
I have selected "check spelling as you type" but I have my doubts that it is working as I'm a horrible speller and it's not catching my goofs.
Can't find a place to set the dictionary.
I see Pogue has a Missing Manual for '08 coming in January, but I don't want to wait that long.
