Ive looked at the support pages from apple for pages [URL] to find out what the shortcuts are and found out its Control-Command-plus sign (+). This however doesnt seam to work i can get the subscript to work which is Control-Command-minus sign (-)!

Can't figure out the Spelling function -
Words that are clearly misspelled don't get a little red squiggle under them. And when I click "check spelling" some of these mistooks are ignored.
I have selected "check spelling as you type" but I have my doubts that it is working as I'm a horrible speller and it's not catching my goofs.
Can't find a place to set the dictionary.
I see Pogue has a Missing Manual for '08 coming in January, but I don't want to wait that long.
I was wondering if when in Full screen mode in pages 09, we can still change tracks in Itunes. Is there a lil Itunes player in the full screen mode, so that we can skip songs and control volumes.

Example: current cell contains the text "new client" -- I decide I want it to read "new clients" without typing it all over again. I use iWork, and this function is under "format-font-baseline-superscript", I try to use the shortcut "control+command+plus", while it doesn't work.
The shortcut works properly for a subscript symbol.
When copying a table from say a webpage or even a RTF file, Pages does not retain its table formatting. Instead it separates the rows and columns and puts them on separate lines.
See it for yourself, try copying one of the tables on this page into Pages [URL]
The only way I can get the table into Pages is to paste into NeoOffice (which retains the correct formating), save the file with the .doc extension then open in Pages.
I'm using the first release of Pages and I copied and pasted over some original documents and then saved them. I then exited out of Pages and did some other stuff. I realized my mistake a couple hours latter. Is there anyway to recover the original documents without the new saved over pasting?
There are no backups to these files.
I need to open a few Pages files but I don't have Pages installed on this computer. I understand you can convert Pages files to .doc or .pdf within the application, but unfortunately I won't have access to the computer with the program installed for a while.
Is there some sort of (free) converter that can convert .pages files to .doc or .pdf or even .rtf?
Or even better, a document creator/viewer than can open .pages files?
I'm wondering if there's a way to eliminate the visual break in-between pages in Pages '09 (see screenshot). I'd prefer maybe a subtle dotted line indicating a different page, not a 5-inch gap.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create pages that have all black backgrounds. I've been doing this by using the Shapes tool, choosing a rectangle, filling in the entire white space for the page, which is 8x11, and then filling in with black.
The problem is that when I do this, Pages seems to think that I want this page and the following page to be connected, in some way. When I look at the two pages in the thumnail view, the yellow outline is around both pages, rather than each individually.
Anybody know how to keep this from happening. Or the right way to create full black backgrounds for pages in Pages?
However, there is one site that i visit almost daily [URL] and yet safari never includes it in the Top Sites. Its never once been in there since I've had it...
But before anyone suggests so, have already reset the Top Sites by deleting the various plists from the safari folder in my library - didn't work, obviously.

I normally use 4 different languages in a day and a spell checker keeps you alert.

I know that you can show facing pages using View>inspector>documents. But, this does not place the pages side by side, Is there any way that say page 1 and page 2 can be shown and worked on side by side so you do not have to scroll up and down to view them?

I have been using NeoOffice for the past few years and I've been considering buying Pages. Just wonder if any of you have used both NeoOffice for word processing and Pages so that you can make a comparison. I have a few gripes about NeoOffice. It takes a long time to load and I have had some formatting issues when sharing docs with those using MS Word.
I have a two page pages document that, when I print to save as PDF, saves as 2.2mb file. The Pages file is 8.7mb! This is my first foray into Pages. Is there anything I can do to make the PDF smaller? ...or the Pages file smaller?

Since it's no hassle at all for me to stop by for 5 minutes on my way into work, I gladly accepted.
This poster was made using Apple Pages. However, he didn't think enough to export it to PDF, and I've now come to find that the printing shop can't open .pages files. Since I can't reach my friend right now
I'm using Pages 08 and for some reason its just started no showing any text. I've started a new blank document from template chooser and everytime I type anything in a text box I have to highlight it so I can see it. It then comes up in purple but only when highlighted. The same happens with images. I'm running 10.6.2 on a brand new LED iMac 21.5".
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have a early 2008 octo mac pro, with it im using a philips 220ws, the problem i'm having is that scrolling a page be it safari, firefox or a pages doc. it seems to jutter along and doesnt move as smooth as my mac book,and when typing into either msn messenger, pages or even text edit letters seem to lag behind what im typing, ok it may only be for a secon and about 2 letters behind burt it gets annoying worse when back spacing. does anyone else have the problem or possible fix? im not using anything more than than the word processor, safari and msn at a time
