I'm not really sure why, but for the past few days I have been unable to access Youtube through either Safari or Chrome on my computer...I have emptied history/cache, and tried to restart, but this does not seem to be working. Other video sites like Dailymotion still run, but take longer to load than they used to.

I cannot get youtube to play on my iMac with OS 10.7.4 on safari or chrome additionally it will not play on any of my notebooks(MBP 15 2008w/ SL and a MBP 13 with Lion 10.7.4)removing and reinstalling chrome, flash. I've tried the switch from 32 to 64 to 32 bit and back.

1) I have a Macbook 2.2ghz (early 2008) running Leopard 10.5.8 which wont auto update (says it cant connect to internet even though it is - error says A networking error has occurred: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again.) Network diagnostcs says that im connected to the intermet.
2) Also safari and chrome take ages to load pages when every time I open them (around 45 seconds) and then when they are running safari will randomly close and chrome will come up with the aw snap message for random pages (doesnt matter if its trying to loas flash or not).
Iv got Sophos anti virus which is saying theres no malware or viruses, also tried restartiing, re downloading chrome, deleteing my profile from chrome, exporting, deleting and then importing bookmarks and hardwiring the latop to the router.

For some unknown reason no YouTube videos will play in Chrome anymore. I have not installed any new extensions or anything since it was last working. YouTube is working fine in every other browser... Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling and restarting my iMac of course, a no go.
View 3 Replies View Relatedabout 3 or 4 days ago while surfing on YouTube I suddenly noticed that I can no longer press anything on the player anymore, no matter where on the flash application I press, it always just pauses the video. Even when I go over the volume control or the play button, they don't highlight in red anymore.
This is very annoying since I can't control the volume, fast forward, rewind, set higher resolution, click the google ads away... nothing works It just pauses the video when I click.
I emptied the cash of Chrome and restarted my Mac but nothing works.
I tried Safari and YouTube still works properly there.
I am using the latest version of Chrome (Beta 5.0.342.9).
Does anyone have a similar problem?
For some odd reason, my Google Chrome browser will not show the videos from YouTube, but I can hear the sound in the background.
This problem happened during either after I downloaded all of my OSX updates (this is a new macbook), or after I installed SilverLight to watch some videos on Netflix.
In the past, neither of these had that effect on Google Chrome.
Safari shows videos just fine, so I'm not sure why Google Chrome is all of a sudden having this issue.
My (relatively) new Macbook Pro has developed some sort of bug, and I'll do my best to explain. The cursor acts as if the left-click button is being held down, i.e. it highlights or drags a selected object. The only way to stop highlighting is to click another part of the desktop, but then it starts highlighting from that point. The only way to get out of this mode is to restart the computer (I've had to do that 3 times today). I've been assuming that it was a bug in Google Chrome since it was always open when the bug started, but this last time Chrome wasn't open.

Before I got my Macbook and used a Windows 7 laptop, Google Chrome was my default browser. A couple of weeks ago, I suddenly started seeing pop ups in both my Chrome and Safari browsers. I have pop up ads turned off in both, went so far as to uninstall Chrome and the .dmg for it several times, cleared all histories, cookies, extensions, etc, etc. What's even more maddening is that it happens while just using plain old Google to do a search. I have cleaned out all old pics and documents via Finder that I no longer needed. I have nothing new that has caused this change. So what the heck is happening here??? I have been trying to track this isue down and can't find a solution. Firefox seems to be the only thing unaffected at this point, but I migrated away from Mozilla a long time ago. I've tried searching Google's forums, but the fact it's happening in Safari suggests it's something within my Mac. I've run a virus scan (semi-redundant, I'm aware, but I'm grasping) and all is clear. Do I try a malware search now?

I saw a thread the other day that alluded that Chrome or FF were memory hogs vs Safari. I have FF on my iMac and like it fairly well, my wife really prefers it. I have not installed it on my MBA because of the comments that I read the other day. It seemed like someone also posted Chrome was almost or as bad. There have been some spirited threads on how to keep our Airs running at top efficiency, going both easy on the RAM and on the battery life. The general consensus amongst members is Flash with a Flash filter plugin such as ClickToFlash battery life. If a browser is a memory hog will it also hasten the battery's discharge or just sap your RAM? Or would the user never really notice the difference unless they were tunnel visioned on their system monitor whilst surfing the web?

This happens on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and even Google. The second is an SSL error again, BUT I can proceed anyway, which brings me to the third issue. I get onto the website but all the graphics on the website are gone and I get something looking like the image below. Time and date are correct.

I just installed Parallels 6 and virtualised a brand new Win 7 OS. I then installed some basic sw (e.g. antivirus, firewall, Chrome etc) and am ready to test Win 7 and Chrome. First comment: browsing in Chrome, even if it's virtualised, is faster (!) and snappier, than Safari 5 on my i5 MBP. How on earth can that be. Scrolling up and down a page, of course, is smoother on the MBP, in fact scrolling in the virtualised environment is choppy, but everything else (e.g. downloading, accessing pages etc) is definitely faster in the virtualised Chrome. The MBP is the base i5. Safari is 5.0.2. Chrome is the latest as of today.

I currently own a late 2008 15 inch macbook pro. It's my first Mac, and I'm very satisfied with it.
I recently downloaded Safari 5 and have been less than impressed. I find the performance extremely sporadic: sometimes very fast, sometimes painfully slow. I have also lost Youtube and Justintv functionality, and since I take online courses the video sites are imperative for me.
I've re-loaded Firefox and also Chrome, and over the last three days seem to be leaning towards Chrome for its balance of speed and overall functionality.
I tried lot of things and i still having the problem, the page doesnt get open, just loading, and if i want to see one youtube video in other page i still cant, the video is black.I can saw all other videos in other format or in other site, but simply i cant open YOUTUBE!

I just got to college and discovered that wifi didnt work (now I've learned that it only works with Firefox for whatever reason) so I just plugged into the ethernet port at my desk and it worked for a week or so and then it wouldn't work and I checked Network settings and it couldn't detect an ethernet cable. So I reset the PRAM and it worked... for a few hours, and now it doesn't. I don't want to have to do that every time I come back to my desk. What should I do about this? (and any suggestions on safari/chrome not working? I posted it in another subforum on here but I got nowhere)

View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I downloaded around 1000 new fonts and installed them, all fine yesterday, but today, Safari, Firefox and Chrome are all using really whacky fonts from those that I downloaded. It happens in google and some webpages, but it's really annoying. I've been through all the preferences, defaults, fontbook (and deleted all the ones with major errors) and I deleted the font that it was using, until it chose another one, trying to fix it but with no luck
View 1 Replies View RelatedI really don't have a feeling that Chrome is as fast as people claim it to be. For example, each time I try to open Macrumors forum website it takes like 8-10 secs for Chrome to load the page!! (In Safari it takes 2-3 secs.) I've noticed Chrome will often display "Resolving host..." msg first, then it will take you to the site of your choice. Something must be wrong with my browser, but I really don't know why - I just installed it anew, but no change. (Btw, I've read somewhere that turning off the DNS setting in Chrome will help speed things up, but it didn't seem to help when I tried it...)
